The only feature I wish I had with it is a ruler. Other than that, everything is excellent.I am planning to go camping and I will definitely take my Huntsman with me.If it's your first time buying a multitool, I strongly believe that Huntsman is a perfect place to start.

I've had a Huntsman for more than 25 years, and I've used every feature, except for the hook.The hook feels like a "filler feature", and a philips head screwdriver would have been more useful.All in all a very useful balanced tool with most of the commonly needed options, without being too big as to be impractical. Swiss Champ I'm looking at you!I've upgraded mine to also have a glasses screwdriver in the corkscrew.

I ordered a huntsman to give to my son for Christmas. This was going to be his first pocket knife and something he would have his entire life. I had his name engraved on one side and a small four word phrase that he and I use on the other side. Or so I thought. When the knife was delivered it only had his name on it. I called to see what could be done and was told that I ordered it with just his name, even though there is no confirmation that I received stating so. I voiced my dissatisfaction and was told that "since it wasn't their fault, I could buy another knife with a 10% discount". I will never buy another product from this company every again.

Back in those days, I didn't even know what model it was, but I was hooked. for the next 32 years, it was the only model I owned. High School, Business School, College, Army, Police Academy, wedding.....too many memories to list here. I was doing something and something struck a chord, so I retrieved it from my collection of Swiss Army Knives and it's in my pocket right now. The saw is phenomenal, the scissors (for a left handed lad like me!) cut more paper than the average mill can turn out today! Even though I haven't worked retail in many years, the habit of reserving the small blade has remained. I actually used the large blade to field dress after hunting with my son. The cap lifter and can opener have been used to do their designed tasks so many times. They were also used to tune up my first car, a '66 Volkswagen Beetle and later a '71 VW Campmobile. They fit perfectly the straight edge screws used in those cars. I'm sorry, I'm drifting off in too many memories. If you want the one knife that literally does it all, with a little creativity, this is your knife! I only wish mine had the awesome parcel hook!!
In my view, The Huntsman is ideal for anytime you're hiking or in a generally more outdoors setting. It's pretty lightweight considering all its features, and is well thought out overall. Also fits easily in a pocket and is fairly unobtrusive, especially with the addition of a pocket clip (I recommend Key Smart).The two knives are both pretty standard drop point SAK fare. I actually use the small knife for eating fruit and such. The larger blade I use for camp tasks typically. Both hold an edge well and are easy to sharpen. For some reason, the smaller blade is always just a little sharper than the big one.I've used the saw a few times. In my opinion, although crazy sharp, it's really built for durability rather than flexibility. What that basically means us it'll chew through wood, but it'll grab every so often as well. Something to be aware of. I'd spend a little tine getting comfortable with the saw before potentially finding yourself in a situation where you need it. The back of the blade can also be used with fire steels.The can/bottle opener duo is a classic. Can't go wrong with either, and you also get the wire stripper and drivers with them.The hook is useful for moving firewood IMO. I don't understand why this one doesn't come with the nail file on the back, and that's a minor knock. One more serious knock on this hook. The actual hook end is too close to the keyring hole, and that makes it very difficult to open up.The awl is really useful for it's intended purpise, and also as a straight up gimlet and can be used with a fire steel as well. Plus it's useful for camp sewing.The corkscrew I use to hold a tinder twist from Tortoise gear along with an eyeglass driver. There is a slot under the corkscrew that holds a pin to remove splinters, sim cards, etc...not included for some reason. I do recommend buying a pin to fill the slot. They can be useful.The toothpick I replaced with a Tortoise Gear fire steel. However, there is a quirk with the Huntsman that allows you to actually have both. Next to the scissors is a gap that is perfectly sized to hold the toothpick perfectly snug, and in my experience, the toothpick never comes loose in my pocket or what have you.The tweezers are great for what they are.I really like this blade for hiking and camping.

Even the parcel hook tool has many imaginative uses. Lifting hot pot and kettle bails from the fire, pulling out hot oven racks, carrying heavy items with thin handles, opening and lifting drawers, covers, and retail boxes with those annoying locking flaps. Unlimited uses! Even the corkscrew is great for pulling apart stubborn knots. This is a great tool for anyone who wants to be prepared for just about any situation.
I had a version of this knife since 2006. Unfortunately, it was confiscated by airport security. Just bought a new one - and the drop in quality is astonishing. No mini screwdriver, sections between tools are made either from tin or aluminum foil -- it used to be steel. You could see through the tool when you look from a side - it was not like this on an old version :(
I have been using my huntsman for over 10 years now and this is the one constant throughout all my ventures into the wild - be it the dense hot jungles of India, the Nordic woodlands and mountains or the unforgiving Himalayan hikes.The most useful tools for me personally have been the knife, saw, scissors, can opener and awl. Recently i have upgraded the fireant kit to this tool and augmented its functionality.The testament of my recommendation for this product is that i have gifted it to most of my hiking buddies and everyone loves it.Suggestions - bring back the blue colour version - though most of us have custom scales, blue would be a good colour for wilderness explorations as it is easier to find.Please never retire it!
A medium pocket knife from Victorinox that is a step up from urban everyday carry. It has an economic design in a compact outdoors SAK (camping/hunting/fishing). The Huntsman offers the main staples (large blade, saw, scissors and openers) and a host of smaller tools. With all this functionality, it still remains light enough to be carried in a pants pocket or thrown into a daypack. A bestseller for a reason, I bought this for my 18-year-old son so he will stop borrowing mine when he goes hiking. I highly recommend it.
