Awesome EDC that has everything I want

Even with it's 4 layers, this is surprisingly light weight, and with it's shorter 85 mm length it's quite comfortable in my pockets. Good for EDC. I like the Wenger style scissors. The auto locking feauture of the screw driver/bottle opener is great.A lot of people complain about the protruding locking mechanism release lever, but it doesn't bother my gripping of the knife at all in either direction. The placement of the lever does not bother me from accessing the scissors either. If I slide my thumb down from the very front edge of the scissors, it's easy to find the finger nail slot and lift up too. I would have preferred a 2nd small blade over the nail file, but all in all a brilliant package, love it.

Very good quality, and very usable. Definitely the pocket knife to carry daily for most small jobs you encounter while living your life. I have found it to be the perfect platform for on the farm and traveling. I have had swiss army knives before and they are amazing for the money. Would definitely encourage friends to buy and carry one. The swiss knives I had in the past I gave away and regretting it, which is why I bought this one, and this time got the champ, before I had one with much fewer functions, this one is not going anywhere, it is a keeper and everyone else will have to get their own. If I give one away it will be ordered for that purpose for now on.

Today I went into the bathroom at my coffee shop and closes the door and twisted the lock. I felt the lock go past its usual stopping position and keep turning. When I tried to unlock the door the lock knob just turned freely. I took out my Swiss Champ and removed the two screws holding it on with my Phillips driver and discovered a small metal piece that pushes the locking mechanism into place had broken off. I took out my Swiss Champ pliers and grabbed the broken stub and twisted it into position. The lock unlocked and I was able to open the door. That’s why I carry my Swiss Champ every day!

I've had a trusty Victorinox Recruit as an EDC for over 10 years since I received it as a gift from work. I recently treated myself to a new SwissChamp, and I have to say it is liberating with all the tools I have at the tip of my fingers!I love my Swiss Champ. It has almost every useful tool you will ever need in daily life and outdoors, in such a compact, well thought out, and quality package, it's absolutely brilliant! The only limitation is your imagination with the tasks you can accomplish with it. I actually like the size, as it gives you a substantial and comfortable grip when cutting with the main blade. For carry, it fits perfectly in the coin pocket of all my jeans, can't feel the knife in my jeans, and I forget it's even there. I especially find useful the magnifier, pressurized ball point, and scale in cm and inches. Use it all the time. It inspires confidence you will always have the tool you need for any circumstance that should arise. The only thing I wish for is a lockable main blade. I know a locking blade would prohibit the Swiss Champ in certain countries like the UK, but it would add to it's brilliance if Victorinox could offer the Swiss Champ in an optional S model (Swiss ChampS) with a locking main blade. That would be absolute perfection for me.

My go to hiking blade.
18 July 2022

In my view, The Huntsman is ideal for anytime you're hiking or in a generally more outdoors setting. It's pretty lightweight considering all its features, and is well thought out overall. Also fits easily in a pocket and is fairly unobtrusive, especially with the addition of a pocket clip (I recommend Key Smart). The two knives are both pretty standard drop point SAK fare. I actually use the small knife for eating fruit and such. The larger blade I use for camp tasks typically. Both hold an edge well and are easy to sharpen. For some reason, the smaller blade is always just a little sharper than the big one.I've used the saw a few times. For some reason, the smaller blade is always just a little sharper than the big one.I've used the saw a few times. Any woid which has a diameter roughly equal to the saw blades length is a good candidate for using this saw. In my opinion, although crazy sharp, it's really built for durability rather than flexibility. What that basically means us it'll chew through wood, but it'll grab every so often as well. Something to be aware of. I'd spend a little tine getting comfortable with the saw before potentially finding yourself in a situation where you need it. The back of the blade can also be used with fire steels. The can/bottle opener duo is a classic. Can't go wrong with either, and you also get the wire stripper and drivers with them. The hook is useful for moving firewood IMO. I don't understand why this one doesn't come with the nail file on the back, and that's a minor knock. One more serious knock on this hook. The actual hook end is too close to the keyring hole, and that makes it very difficult to open up.The awl is really useful for it's intended purpise, and also as a straight up gimlet and can be used with a fire steel as well. Plus it's useful for camp sewing. The corkscrew I use to hold a tinder twist from Tortoise gear along with an eyeglass driver. There is a slot under the corkscrew that holds a pin to remove splinters, sim cards, etc...not included for some reason. I do recommend buying a pin to fill the slot. They can be useful. The toothpick I replaced with a Tortoise Gear fire steel. However, there is a quirk with the Huntsman that allows you to actually have both. Next to the scissors is a gap that is perfectly sized to hold the toothpick perfectly snug, and in my experience, the toothpick never comes loose in my pocket or what have you.The tweezers are great for what they are.I really like this blade for hiking and camping.

No pen, and weirdly enough no pin either.
28 April 2023

So the silvertech model does not come with neither the pen which I don't really care for since I carry a pen wallet, and no pin, strangely enough though the slot is there for it, so you could always just get your own and store it there. I don't understand the choice of not including the pin, but regardless I still love this model. Looking at it in pictures it looks terrible, but I decided to see a video and it looks far, far better in real life. Other than those 3 things you can expect the same quality, craftsmanship, and reliability that Victorinox is known for, and I would highly recommend this product that I would buy again in a heartbeat if I had somehow misplaced it.

SWISS CHAMP, WOULD NEVER BE WITHOUT ONE!
20 July 2022

SWISS CHAMP, best pocket knife money can buy! Have them everywhere in fear of being without one when needed, etc. Have given many of them as gifts, theyre always highly appreciated!! Pen, tweezers, magnifying glass, scissors, pliers..thats what Im talking about!!! Also, wouldnt be without the essential companion Swiss Army Victorinox Zermatt XL Pouch w/sharpening seel, ( Swiss Army part number 4109918XL ) which the Swiss Champ fits into perfectly! The steel sharpener(honing only) stays put and never falls out. For some reason, these days theyre extremely difficult to find, and are rare, they cost around $20 . Included is a photo posted of my 1st Swiss Champ & Pouch which now is 41 yrs. old, use it all the time!

The best outdoors companion money can buy
19 October 2022

I have been using my huntsman for over 10 years now and this is the one constant throughout all my ventures into the wild - be it the dense hot jungles of India, the Nordic woodlands and mountains or the unforgiving Himalayan hikes. The most useful tools for me personally have been the knife, saw, scissors, can opener and awl. Recently i have upgraded the fireant kit to this tool and augmented its functionality. The testament of my recommendation for this product is that i have gifted it to most of my hiking buddies and everyone loves it.Suggestions - bring back the blue colour version - though most of us have custom scales, blue would be a good colour for wilderness explorations as it is easier to find. Please never retire it!

Victorinox Swiss Champ Swiss Army Knife - Black

The Victorinox SwissChamp is possibly the perfect pocket multi-tool - Period.Whether black, red or all colours of the rainbow is a minor detail - though the fact that there are so many after-market scale options is good for those that are fussy about such ephemera. What is important - above all - is the sheer quality of each component in this wonderfully compact toolkit. Mine sits in a Victorinox mult--pocketted pouch (#4.0567.03), with an AAA flashlight, spare (Lithium) battery, fire-steel & striker, sharpener and flat-folding Hex-key & small screwdriver set.All-in-all, with the Swisschamp, a total of 47 available tools available - in one compact belt pouch. Amazing. What's even better is that many of the Swisstool features are dual-purpose, particularly if you spend a little time on YouTube, where there are several Victorinox enthusiast's videos demonstrating uses for Swiss Army Knife tools that Carl Elsener never dreamed about..!In my case (pouch), I carry a full-size Fire-steel & striker, but if you don't pick your teeth, you can even buy (from Firefly), a miniature ferrocerium fire-steel that slides into the same toothpick slot. More versatility...My own favorite Swisschamp tool is/are the pliers, which, though small in size, include a crimper, wire cutter, nut gripper and serrated plier tips - all in a compact yet robust tool.To make the Swisschamp perfect, Victorinox could have included a Locking main blade (as on their Wenger-derived model), for safety (I'd rather not lose blood because some moronic politician says all locking knives are "deadly weapons", purely to gain votes). It would also be an improvement if both the large screwdriver/bottle opener And the Phillips #2 driver incorporated the Wenger "Push-Lock" mechanism, which makes each item safer in use. Finally, Mr. Elsener (the fourth), can we PLEASE get rid of hook & loop (Velcro), fastenings for ALL Victorinox belt pouches..? It's cheap, it's nasty, it gathers fluff and stuff - and ALL such fastenings should be replaced with proper Stud/Popper fasteners..That last paragraph is just to prove this is a real review, from one who has two Victorinox SwissChamps - and a whole host of other items from the same source. Not some "Paid-for" chinglish scribblings. In short, buy a SwissChamp and a Leatherman Free P2 and all your EDC needs are covered.

I thought I would not use the corkscrew but once I ordered a Victorinox eyeglass screwdriver that goes in the corkscrew it made the corkscrew very important. I dont use the toothpick for teeth, I use it for getting at little things I may have dropped into a crack or to maneuver a tiny object . I am a city guy, Dad and Grandpa so I use my Victorinox for cutting hockey tape, fixing glasses, opening packages, getting out slivers, snipping threads, turning screws and cutting rope. So for me its all about the scissors , screwdrivers , and tweezers. The Climber is all of that and it small enough to sit comfortably in my pant pocket. I also love that people dont get scared when I bust out a Swiss army knife. Its a great tool and an essential every day carry .
