Always Buying Victron

Easy to use, many charging profiles, love the Bluetooth app with all my other Victron devices. Low amps, so not super-fast, good for overnight charging. Plays well with our LiFePO4 batteries.

Great Charger

I have used the charger twice. once on a lithium and once on a AGM Battery. The AP showed what was happening through both charging cycles. The connectors for the charger are good and make it easy to switch between them. Having only used it twice, i reserve any more of a review until i have used it more time.

It is now used to ensure that a pair of 115AH deep cycle solar system batteries are adequately charged on cloudy (or for those on the West Coast in 2020, very SMOKE filled) days. So far it's doing its job well and thus extending the life of my two AGM batteries! Nice to get the battery charge data as a visual display on my iPhone or iPad. A note on this review's online structure; I.e., the "Rate Features" that were requested by Home Essentials Direct for this product: why would one rate this this type of electrical device for "Warmth" or "Thickness"? I'm a big fan of these chargers. Coupled with the right size load on a right sized (Victron) inverter, and the right battery capacity, you can pretty much make your own long life UPS. For example, the 7 or 10 Amp version, coupled to a 50 or 100 Amp Hour LiFePo4 12.8V battery driving a 40 Liter Dometic fridge/Freezer (55-85Watts, intermittent.) through a 250 or 375 watt Pure Sine Wave inverter leaves the fridge running on a full battery when the power fails. (For you folks looking for something to do with the 110 volt outlet in the back of your Honda Odyssey... Ice Cream bars!) Though the Lithium Ion Mode setting is not perfect for Battle Born batteries, which prefer 14.4 to 14.6 volts for Absorption, the 13.5 volt Lithium Ion Float/Storage voltage is right on spec. ... MoreI'm a big fan of these chargers. STORAGE MODE Keeps the battery at reduced constant voltage to limit gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Slow self-discharge is prevented by an automatic weekly refresh of the battery with a short absorption charge. Triggering a new charge cycle: A new charge cycle will start when: a) The charger has reached float or storage, and, due to a load, current increases up to maximum current during more than four seconds. b) The MODE button is pressed during charging. c) The AC supply has been disconnected and reconnected. When a load is connected to the battery: A load can be applied to the battery while charging, as long as the current draw is much lower than the rated output of the battery charger. It can still be used with a button to select the default charge profiles (14.4 or 14.7 AGM or Flooded lead-acid w/ optional reconditioning phase, and 14.2 Lithium), but with the app charge algorithms can be modified and saved as custom files. There is an adjustable power supply mode too. The app also shows voltage and amperage, logs the amp-hours, and it can be monitored remotely as long as it within range, for example from living room to garage. It doesn't require any voltage on the battery, it can be at zero volts. A side effect is that it appears to try charging even open wires, and then read the open circuit voltage. It's unconventional, but it works fine. 15 amps is very high for it's size and weight, very close to the CTEK 7002 which is a 7 amp charger. And accuracy was good; the displayed voltage was within 0.01 volts of a Fluke DMM. Bottom line is that with this charger there is no need to check charging of a suspect battery using separate volt or amp meters because the app has all that and more. I resurrected an AGM starting battery that was left dead for a couple months; the readings and adjustments via the app worked well. I have a lot of chargers, and this is my new favorite for getting a dead battery working -- no meters to take with me, just a phone with the app.

Time Saver!

I got this charger to get my Enduro Power 12v 100ah charged up after some long days on the water in the kayak. This charger was charging the battery much faster than the others anglers chargers I was staying with. While they were unsure if theirs would be done by the morning mine was charged before I went to bed. Knowing exactly how much battery I used was critical on how far I could go the following day and this charger tells you!

Update 2/20/21 Recent iPhone app Victron Connect update and can't connect to devices. The pair number doesn't work. After an hour or so I got the monitor to work after a reset but the app doesn't allow to enter the PUK for the charger. Of course I went through all the steps they suggest. What could be great products are so full of bugs and issues. ---------------------------------------------------------------- We are converting our van and setting up a separate power system and leaving the van's system for running it - no connection or overlap at all between the two. This works great right now to keep the Battery Born lithium battery charged while we install the solar panels. And it will be a backup if we can't get enough out of the panels.
