I've had these for a week, and I'm impressed. They are light and responsive, and roll well. They're also grippier than I expected on wet mud and grass.They replaced Halo Twin Rails which were ok but unreliable, and Rubans that should have been good but always felt sluggish - the Mezcals feel much quicker in comparison.Also, and I cannot tell you enough how happy this makes me, they go on easily. Both my previous tyres were such an effort to get on and off - I had to use a vice on the Rubans! - I don't think I could have done a roadside repair.I'm riding old-school with tubes, and using the tyres for commuting over rough ground. So far they seem perfect.

Mounted nice & easy with sidewalls giving confidence before even riding & once on definitely Roll easy. Plenty quick enough on Hard Pack & surprisingly quiet on any Tarmac sections I've had to ride. As per other reviews do get a little loose on deep mud but only to be expected. Personally diggin the Grey sidewall something a bit different & already know I'll be getting another set once these are worn.Thx again Biketart for the great price & service. HPY DAYS :-)

I bought these in 2.6” width to replace the Maxiss 2.8" tyres that came on my hardtail. I wanted something faster rolling as many of my rides involve at least some road and hard packed tracks such as towpaths or similar at some point and wanted to try a faster tyre hoping to gain some pace on this ground without losing when properly off road. I also sometimes commute to work on my bike. I have only ridden them once but it was a very wet and muddy ride so a good test of grip and I was quite worried they wouldn't be that great but they were surprisingly good. This is one of my favorite tires to use on Idaho trails that aren't too chunky or technical when everything is nice and dry. Hardpan, loose over hard, even loose are no problem for this tire as rolling resistance is low and cornering is smooth and predictable.Just as important, the tire is surprisingly light and durable--I've worn out several in my day but never tore out treadblocks or ripped a sidewall. Also, the large-volume casing translates to lower PSIs and less bouncing through scree fields and root traps.However, I would advise against using these as a front tire and would instead opt for something a bit meatier and more aggressive. Also, please take care in or near mud as the small knobs and tight spacing mean they pack up almost immediately. Even early ... I bought the 2.60 as a rear tire while riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. For that purpose it gets five stars. Solid tires for how lightweight they are. Put them on to my Specialized Tero Hardtail eMTB. Perfect low rolling resistance on paved roads and surprisingly more grip than I expected on dusty and dry east bay fire road type trails. Needs about 2x the sealant for the tan sidewall version to seal up properly. But once sealed, no issues. About 300+ miles on it so far so can't tell how long they will last but am hoping to get about 1K miles from them.
This tire worked extremely well in muddy conditions, it's designed for dry terrain. These tires gave me the confidence to lean the bike way over and drift both tires around the corner. Although it has light sidewalls, I have had great luck not puncturing them while going over many rocky trails. Running lower pressure made light work of mud and rocks. The one area where these tires become useless going over tree roots on even the slightest uphill, especially when damp. Be careful with this terrain. I hurt myself pretty bad when they slid on a rood while I was standing while pedaling. Hitting roots on straights or downhill becomes harry as well. I still give it 5 stars because it does not claim to be for wet weather and these scary moments are on wet or damp roots. ... I admit I purchased these tires because I thought they were beautiful. Perfect sidewall color (better looking than the light or dark Maxxis tanwalls), nice graphics, Italian style (and I like Vittoria road tires). The price point was attractive as well as the low weight of these tires. As advertized, the Mezcals roll fast and are very efficient. They are absolutely perfect for racing or seeking Strava KOMs or PRs on hardpack dirt (I've gotten several with them). The almost solid center bead makes them incredibly efficient on pavement as well for a 2.2" mtb tire. But I have to say that unless one cares exclusively about the fine qualities mentioned above, these tires do not have great merit. Here's why:What surprised me most about the Mezcals is how hard they feel. The recommended lowest pressure is 29 psi. I ran them at 23 and still they were not very comfortable. I didn't dare go lower because of the worry of the lightweight/thin sidewall. Moreover, while they are efficient in perfect hardpack conditions, they are not very grippy in any other conditions.I've been rolling Maxxis 2.3 Ikon's on my hardtail carbon Niner Air 9 for years. They roll almost as fast as the Mezcals on pavement and hardpack but are much more comfortable and much grippier in a variety of terrains and weather conditions. I have a set of 2.0 Specialized Ground Controls on another hardtail that are more comfortable and more grippy then the Mezcals as well. My guess is that the rubber is just too hard. I got caught out in a crazy thunderstorm on the Mezcals and felt like I was wearing roller skates on an ice rink--all while my son riding Minions could stay on the trail just fine (he just might be a better rider than me too...).So I'll probably take these off and store them for some perfect race conditions. But I doubt I'll really ever put them back on. Time to go back to the Ikon, even if it doesn't look as cool and costs a little more.
The tire does not fit on the rim , The bead is so tied impossible to in stall . Broke 4 " Pedros "tire tools , never had a problem with any tire before . Do not buy this tire !!!Get in touch with the manufacturer and report a problem . Also it is very large in diameter , bigger then2.6 " . Warning faulty Product .
I really needed new tires the ones (other brand and model) were done. The statistics from the 2023 Tour DIvided made me curious about these tires. More than the half of the riders used these tires. While i d not ride the Tour Divide any time soonI I do ride my bike in various terrain. Some asphalt/tarmac, a lot of gravel and more singletrack than tarmac. And these Mezcals preform perfectly on the first few rides. They feel very secure, not to stiff sidewalls and supple enough. Just don't know yet how long they will last. But if the can survice 4300 km Tour Divide a can run them for at least a year.
