So much better than a normal fan - the technology is great. If cool outside, I just put it in the doorway and it circulates the cool air from outside throughout the room that otherwise would stay hot. Love how quiet it is esp on low so you can have it going all night and no problem sleeping - in fact a friend left it on when we went out and she couldn't hear it and thought it was already off! Amazing how it can be pointed at my husband on the couch but I can feel the breeze in a different spot in the same room - amazing! I also love the dial speed - so you can adjust it to exactly the speed you want. Highly recommend and the super bonus is it is energy efficient, so very low cost to run! Got pretty tired of so-called quiet fans at my desk so gave this a try and I'm very happy with the amount of air movement it generates even at low speeds. The fan is so quiet my computers internal fans drown out any noise that it may be making. High speed takes air movement to a whole new level, not that I would have much need for it but if you needed your washing air dried in a hurry it would do the job.

I have a heat pump positioned badly between my living and dining rooms and the vornado really does a good job moving the warm air between rooms (which are open to each other by a large archway). When i have the fire on in the living room, Vornado moves the hot air off the ceiling and circulates it effectively. I would have given it 5 stars except that at the top end of the speed range, it is hardly whisper quiet.

I recently purchased the Vornado DC Floor Fan and have been more than pleased with its performance. On the low to medium speeds, it moves the air around the room without actually blowing on you and is exceptionally quiet - perfect for our bedroom. The higher speeds which are obviously noisier, are perfect for getting rid of the hot air when we first open the room up.
This is our second Vornado. We like them because they "churn up" the air for far better cooling effect than a direct flow of air. Most importantly to us, our first one has been running very frequently for several years, often for 24 hours a day. All that without overheating or showing any signs of wear.
Pushes a fair bit of air through the room. Helps during hot days. Can be loud after the half way point but there isnt a lot of fans that have this amount airflow. Highly recommend for small apartments and rooms
I put off purchasing a Vornado for years due to the price. Finally sucked it up and I don't regret spending the money. Cools my dining, lounge & kitchen area perfectly as a result I'm not turning the air con on as a much. I love that the fan speed is variable. Once I've cooled the room, I can reduce the fan speed to maintain a comfortable temperature. Very happy with my purchase.
This is my 2nd vornado, 1st bought elsewhere. It moves the air around and cools the room well. In extreme heat - 40 degrees - (I Iive in Perth) it would be better to have aircon I think but I still use it and often will have both on in same room at same time. However, couldn't find the screws you are supposed to take out to remove cover to clean. Not sure the manual applied to my model. Still glad I bought it. It's white and has a clean look. Came in good time.
A great fan for a large room and certainly worth the money. And you only need to have it running on low to medium to get good air movement. It combines nicely with your air conditioner if you have it (air conditioner) on low - but often you wont need your air conditioner. Slightly more noise than the Vornado Energy Smart 533DC but it has to be because this is a much larger fan. After using it for a few days I hardly noticed the extra noise. The smooth, speed control and swivel head (like the 533DC) is a real bonus. I now have this Floor Fan and two 533DC fans - mainly for our elderly dog who plonks herself right in front of them - she's a fan (get it!).
I have owned a lot of fans. Most were ok but obviously built to a price. And then there was that blade less fan that while unusual made as much noise as the vacuum cleaners they were known for. This fan moves a lot of air, is infinitely adjustable (a feature of DC technology) while remaining reasonably quiet. This fan is well built and in the QLD heat works well. I use it with or without my aircon and I find I can move the temp on the aircon up a few degrees and remain comfortable. Very pleased.
