I needed a pair of binoculars alittle more powerful then my Nikon 10x42. I researched many manufacturers and models. I decided that 12 power would be the right choice as anything more powerful would be hard to keep steady. Vortex is a proven name and after reading many reviews on the Diamondback HD model I was convinced these were the right choice. The clarity is as good or better then some of the much higher priced binoculars I have. Crystal clear !! The size and weight are just right and the adjustments are spot on. I also like 50mm which brings in a lot of light. I tried these in very low light conditions and was extremely pleased. The Diamondback HD preform as good as a binocular I own that cost 6 times as much. The case that comes with these is a added bonus. ... MoreI needed a pair of binoculars alittle more powerful then my Nikon 10x42. I researched many manufacturers and models. After a lot of searching for affordable binoculars , I came across these 10x42 Vortex HD Diamondback binoculars. They are lightweight and have a great field of view. They are comfortable on the eyes. They work great in low light situations. They come with a harness, bag, glass cloth and all the caps to protect the glass. The HD is so much better than your grandpa's old style binoculars. And for around $200 bucks, it's a great deal. B&H shipped them fast and they were well packed. I would definitely buy these again.

Very happy with these binoculars. I've never owned a nice pair before. I wanted to get something for this bow hunting season. These are fantastic. The amount of light these let in during low-light situations is great. I'm still able to see things hunting in the woods up till dark. They are also just fun to have to look at random stuff while on the stand. Not sure what the benefit of going up to the Razor HDs would be, but I felt the price point on these was much more accessible and they still are a fantastic product.Had them around my neck a few nights ago when I arrowed a deer! I do plan to get the enclosed chest harness from Vortex eventually. I'd prefer for them to be in an enclosed case instead of exposed and hanging. Also, I hear great things about the ... MoreVery happy with these binoculars. I've never owned a nice pair before. We've been really pleased with our purchase. Excellent quality construction and optics. We originally purchased a Vortex Razor 11-33 X 50 spotting scope for bird watching, but later decided that a more powerful binoculars was more practical for that purpose. It also comes with a really nice case and shoulder/chest strap and a tripod mount attachment. One thing to note, with the wide 56mm lens ... you can't compress the pivot nearly as narrow as you can with a 42mm binoculars. As result, even when compressed down to the narrowest position, that was just barely enough to fit our eyes. Suggest you try them out before your purchase, to make sure that's not an issue. Other than that ... would highly recommend them.
I am shocked at how bad the CA is with these binoculars. It's not something you can see in the dim light inside the store. After I got them home, I was looking at a white horse in a field across the road from me and he was purple! A white fence post has purple fringe on the left that is as wide as the post and yellow fringe covers the post itself. Trees look like they have purple flowers on them. Called Vortex to ask them if they are defective and they basically said, you bought cheap binos so you pretty much got what you paid for. Be careful too about the IPD. I am an adult male and I can just barely close them together enough to make them usable. The eyepieces are as close together as they can be. If your eyes are close together, they may not work for you. I like ... MoreI am shocked at how bad the CA is with these binoculars. It's not something you can see in the dim light inside the store. Maybe another copy would be better, but I got the only pair they had in the store.
This is an excellent set of entry level binoculars. I have only used cheap binoculars in the past thinking there was not much difference between them and more expensive sets. I couldn't have been more wrong! I bought a set of the Vortex Diamondback HDs at a Cabela's in Buda, TX. The salesman, Marvin, was extremely knowledgeable and helped me decide on the set that was right for me. I just started bird watching and wanted something better than what I had, but not too expensive in case I lose interest like so many other hobbies. I felt these were a reasonable price, easy to use, and I was shocked at how much more crisp and clear the image was from my cheap set. I felt these were a reasonable price, easy to use, and I was shocked at how much more crisp and clear the image was from my cheap set. I also really like that they come with a chest mounted carrying bag that keeps the binoculars from swinging around or getting snagged on branches while walking. The shoulder straps also have attachments for the binoculars to keep them from falling when they are out of the case. If you don't want to use the chest bag, it also comes with a separate padded neck strap for more casual use. I liked them so much I bought a second set as a gift for my girlfriend. I'm sure there are much better binoculars available, but for someone like me who is new to the hobby and a smaller budget, I highly recommend these binoculars.
Easy to adjust, very good optics, decent case, at a price point that can't be matched. I can't comment on the durability of this specific pair of binoculars, they are new. But, if they hold up as well as the two other pairs of Diamondbacks I own I'll be very satisfied. I have used Vortex Diamondback binoculars in some of the most demanding conditions, mainly in Alaska, they have not failed me yet. Are there better binoculars available, yes, but not at this price. Similarly priced binoculars, that I have compared, don't feel as well made, have poor adjustment features, the glass is inferior and none matches Vortex's warranty.
As you have read in many other reviews I agree that these are a quality pair of binoculars with good optics at a reasonable price. Although I have two excellent spotting scopes, because of their weight , size, and need for a tripod I generally only carry binoculars when I am alone out it the field hiking or hunting. I usually bring my Vortex 10x42 Diamondback binoculars. I decided to purchase the Vortex 15x56 Diamondback binoculars for increased magnification and light gathering capability as a compromise between my usual binoculars and much more powerful spotting scopes. Since I glass and move a lot, I thought that I would mostly be using them as handhelds and only occasionally on a tripod. I was concerned that the increased weight and higher magnification would make them uncomfortable to hold for longer periods of time and the image might be too shaky. I am very glad that I purchased them because I do not find either of these issues to be a problem and really love these binoculars. My one minor complaint is with the binocular case strap. The one that is provided allows you to securely carry the case strapped to your torso with the case and binoculars readily available against your chest. It would have been nice if the case also came with an additional more traditional simple shoulder strap and appropriate attachment points on the case so you could switch from the supplied chest harness when that wasn't needed but could still have a strap to carry them on your shoulder when that was the more desirable option for what you were doing.
I bought these so I could get more up close definition. You know horn tips sticking out of sagebrush etc. Also, being able to see out further across canyons, so i didn't have to pack my 5 lbs. of spotting scope and tripod. Well, the up close defintion is great. The long range glassing is a lot better and lighter than packing a spotting scope. Of course, nothing replaces a spotting scope. These vortex 15x56 are awesome. Just what I wanted out of this scenario. Crisp clear definition. I have a pair of Zeiss 10x42 and the vortex bino's are a great runner up. Buy a Pair, they're worth every penny.
I'm very happy with the optical quality, clear view, close-focusing ability and overall features. The eye caps twist up which is very convenient, and the feel of the glasses is great. However, the hinges are way too tight and for a moment I thought of returning them, but me and my girlfriend have the same eye distance so once they are set we don't have to adjust, and therefore it works for both of us. If you have many users - don't buy these glasses. Otherwise they are the best glasses I ever had.Less importantly, the case is very nice but the latch to close it could be more reliable (hook to catch the band needs to be set on a stiff backing so it can't pull upwards).
