The quality of optics is exceptional, field of view is perfect, it's dead on reliable, easy on power consumption, durable construction, and price increases to include the newer 4000 that's basically now out of range (pun intended) leaves me very happy that I purchased it when I did. I bought this range finder in anticipation of an Antelope hunt out west next fall. I also wanted something I could use for both archery hunting from a tree stand and late muzzleloader deer hunting here in Iowa. This range finder fits all these scenarios perfectly!

I’ve found a sweet spot for me personally with the Viper family of optics. The Viper HD 3000 was my newest addition and it does not disappoint. I am upgrading from years of using a wal mart grade RF and this Viper just beats it in every way. The body feels sturdy and durable, the rubber coating is grippy, the buttons are smooth and not “clicks/sticky”, response is fast, the menu and screen is easy to maneuver and is clear, the optical quality itself is great, and overall it just feels like a high quality RF. Just like my Viper 10x42 bino and Viper 2.5-10x44 scope, the Viper 3000 is striking a great balance of quality and durability for more serious use without having to spend Razor level money.

EASY to work with and FAST target range metering. The menu is easy to navigate through and seems to allow you to properly range your target. I did not experience any faulty readings and I did not have problems acquiring my target range among items close to the actual target. Eye relief is very good and focusing fir your eye was very simple and easy. Lightweight, waterproof, and has a LIFETIME WARRANTY from Vortex. I cannot find anything about this range finder to complain about!!
I had high expectation for the HD 3000, it exceeded them. Good ranging, clear sharp image. I use for general scoping instead of binoculars, lighter, and easier, and faster. Recommend, would buy again and likely will as a present for my son. Plus the warranty is the best in the industry if anything ever goes wrong (remote, but possible)
This rangefinder does everything it claims it will do. I shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor long range rifle. Good to about 2000 yards.. With a tripod and using the ELR feature I got an accurate reading off of a massively big white water tank at 3727 yards. I moved back approximately 100 yards and got a reading of 3820 yards. And handheld normal mode ranging out to 1200 yards is instant and happens every time. off of vertical Cliff faces I was getting readings out to 2100- 2200 yards. I was all pleasantly surprised that this rangefinder works in complete darkness as well. I ranged a neighborhood across the canyon from me at 1706 yards at noon and again that night in pitch dark with the exact same reading.
I find the 7x good up to 900-1,000 yds. nice clarity at a reasonable price. The shooting I do in wooded mountains makes this HD 3000 my choice. The lifetime warranty was the clencher. I've had others, and they usually burn out in 3-4 years.
So far so good. Red led is pretty easy to see, even with a decent amount of sunlight right in the lens. Great range. I can range even the smallest of things from a good distance. The viper 3000 does everything i wanted plus some. Really nice that everything you need to get started was included. I love that it also takes the same cr123a batteries that all my other gun/hunting related stuff does. Feels pretty stout. Would definitely recommend.
I would like to share my warranty experience. I originally purchase a Vortex Ranger 1800. Unfortunately, even at relatively close distances, it performed poorly. After a year of disappointment with the Ranger 1800, I contacted Vortex's customer service and was immediately shipped a Viper HD 3000. The returns on the Viper are extremely fast. Vortex stands behind their products with an unconditional lifetime warranty. I've used it and can attest to their commitment.
Prior to this I was the happy owner of the Ranger1800. I couldn't fault a thing about it. Moving on up to the ViperHD3000 has been another world. Accurate and extremely sensitive. Using the Elr (extra long range) mode I was shocked yesterday day when an airplane flying a banner as they do along the shores, I ranged the banner and it breaks down to 14,196 FEET!!!! NEARLY THREE MILES AWAY. I kept retaining the banner, I'm like "noooo" but the unit kept ranging "yesss". Now effectively , this is an extreme instance with out true practicality, but what a blast! Prior to that it was a sailboat out 1 1/3 miles! It's nuts. These extremes aside, better than the R1800 , I was amazed to range a treeline not far from a full 2000yards. Just leaves mind you. Now these extremes, nice as they are might seem like it usurps the territory of the next model up but it doesn't really. It holds its own but no doubt the next model up is more accurate the farther out you go. If I were a rifleman who say, had big caliber long range venues I'd opt up. Here though, for me, in the Northeast to boot, the HD3000 is holding its own, and in style.
