I was really undecided about the Vox AC10 or the AC15, I brought my tame guitarist (my son) who can really play, and we headed to the Fitzroy store. I come down to Melbourne from Ballan which is a fair drive, so I gave Manny's a call and they put a lock on the AC10 for me till I got to the store, super helpful when you're traveling from ~100km away. The ability to play both, side by side, along with a Blues Jr and an Orange Rocker was awesome, thanks to Ash at Manny's for setting it up for us.I ended up with the AC10 just because I liked the sound a little more than the other options we tried, but having said that I wouldn't be in any way unhappy with of the other three amps we tried out.I was a little unsure if the 10 would be up to playing past the acoustic ... A few days ago I played my first gig on an AC10 I recently bought. As far as tube amps, I've always leaned towards Fender amps, but a few years ago I was introduced to the AC15 and loved the sound from the start. Twice a week I had an AC15 and a Fender Princeton Reverb in my class so I could hear them side by side. Fast forward, I have been playing a ukulele through my AER Compact 60 for 8 or 9 years, and I love it, The Uke sounds great, but after recording a new album that leaned more electric, it was time to switch up my sound. The AC10 gives me everything I need and I couldn't be happier.

This amp checks all the boxes. Home use, recording or small venues, it'll do the job. Top boast tone withhalf the weight. Mates with humbuckers, P-90's, single coil. Honestly, it's impossible to get a harsh toneon the AC10. Vox was making these amps many years ago, and then they stopped. So glad, theydecided to go with these once again. BTW, the tan on tan is a great looking amp. You need this!

From having a separate cab & head I wanted a lightweight valve amp. Expected, the Vox Ac is at home with rock. But don’t be mislead. This amp can handle most common music genres. Its simple one channel design allows for quick warm tones. Drive the amp and use your pick-ups for finer adjustments. After years reading and searching. I now have the perfect sound. Thanks PMT!!
Vox AC10C1 - Great sound. Inspires you to do more and be better!!! Note this amp has a surface mount circuit board. Be careful with moving it so as to not break the circuit boards. My amp stays rock solid in my home studio for guitar practicing and recording. Bought a 10" Alnico blue speaker, and put it in a solid open back wood cab in a vocal booth for amp recordings. You might find recordings made on the amp itself with a smart phone for demos sound very good. Note: Tubes in this amp are warranted only for 90 days after purchase. Sweetwater's 2 Year Total Satisfaction Guarantee does not include shipping costs to / from Sweetwater. Repair Techs must do an evaluation to see whether your amp situation is tube related or not. Guys I bought two amps now from Sam Ash . I absolutely love the bright sound of the AC10 ,it's just a beautiful sounding amp .Not only does the AC10 sound fantastic, but it also looks great. Vox has done an excellent job with the design of this amp, blending vintage aesthetics with a touch of modern elegance. The Vox diamond grille gives the AC10 a timeless appeal that is hard to resist. It's an amp that not only sounds amazing but also adds a touch of class to any stage or studio setup.
I got this amp after finding the Fender Pro Jr. didn't really suit my needs. The tone is excellent and provides motivating tones on lower volumes and really does rip when you crank it up. I'd say this probably would work in a cafe type venue but in a bar with a live drummer you may need to mic this amp... maybe... which is saying a lot for 10" speaker with 10 watts behind it. I really do like the bass, treble and reverb. I get most of the tone I want without plugging in the pedal board. Matter of fact when I'm practicing at home I don't bother with any pedals because the sounds is great plugged straight in. I also got a good price on this from guitar center as an open box. No regrets! Anyone looking for a Fender Pro Jr?
10 Watts of Vox goodness, is more than enough for small venues and home use. Dial in any tone with simpleto use adjustments and the reverb is not overbearing. This is a grab and go amp, only weighing in at 27lbs.Played single coils, humbuckers and P-90'S and all sound wonderful with this amp. Had the AC15C1 and the 30, didn't need them any longer. Takes pedals well and if you need more oomph, extension speaker can be purchased. Try this amp, you'll love it.
When I ordered this amp I expected to change out the tubes for JJs because if recommendations in the reviews I read. The stock tubes in this particular amp didn't produce any rattle and also provided plenty of clarity and bass. I don't sense the need to change out the tubes. This amp has more head room than my 1x10 2013 '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Amp and I'll say its louder. The Vox Ac10c1 doesn't have a footswitch input installed onto it, if you want to switch from reverb to gain you will have to do it by hand as youre playing. The gain is rich, its a decent factory built in, the gain effect on my 4×10 2003 Fender Concert Reverb Amp doesnt sound nearly this good, if you buy the newer Marshall 20 watt tube amp or their MG solid state series amps their gain effects ... The gain is rich, its a decent factory built in, the gain effect on my 4×10 2003 Fender Concert Reverb Amp doesnt sound nearly this good, if you buy the newer Marshall 20 watt tube amp or their MG solid state series amps their gain effects have a thinner, more static sounding than gritty sound to them. Vox amps have that more lush grit sound, akin to the sound we hear in the songs Ripcord and Vegetable by Radiohead (though Thom Yorke uses a turbo rat pedal) Haven't tried the Ac10c1 with a drummer, setting the Ac10c1 on an amp stand to project the speaker upward or placing this amp on a table should work just fine. The portability and light 27 pound weight are a huge plus if you decide on taking this amp anywhere. With this amp in one hand and a guitar stand and your guitar in a case in the other hand- you will be able to comfortably enter to set up and exit to load up in single trips. I originally expected to change the amp handle out for a leather handle but this vinyl handle is pretty thick. While playing through this amp, you can really feel and hear the nuances of its tube sensitivity while strumming and if you dig in with a pick, you can go from soft to really loud. The touch sensitive dynamics have been well calibrated in this amp. Again, the only downside is the lack of a footswitch input to switch between the amps good sounding gain and so so digital (not analog spring) reverb channel, no one seems to mention this. Everyone has their own effects pedals and loopers and what they already like to use so it almost balances out. I must say I actually like the sound of the gain on this amp. Again Im glad I didnt settle for a solid state Marshall in this price range, or the latest 20 watt tube Marshall which both felt and sounded lesser quality to me. I was looking for a good sounding portable amp. Glad I ordered a Vox Ac10c1
The Vox AC10C1 is everything I was hoping it to be.The amp has more than enough volume & gain on tap for home use, recording and small gigs. I've tried voxy type pedals that don't even compete with the AC10. I love this amp. You've got to have that specific Vox tone in mind, and I would recommend something else as a first tube amp if your after versatility, but for that signature Vox tone this things perfect. I don't color this amp with pedals, there's no reason to. Plays well with all of my guitars and looks so classy. LOUD for 10 watts, with a lot of very useable tones. I love this thing with telecasters the most. The gain knob sounds good at low volumes but to be honest, this amp wants to be cranked at a reasonable level. If your just a home player and are on ... Like new Vox AC10C1 10-watt tube amp with upgraded Celestion Creamback speaker, upgraded Tung Sol power and preamp tubes. The upgrades on this make this amp absolutely shine. The previous owner was aiming to get this as close as possible to sounding like it had an Alnico Blue speaker in it. I've demoed this side-by-side with an AC4HW1 with an Alnico Blue and they are strikingly similar. Just a slight frequency difference in the mids but otherwise very close. In fact, I tend to prefer this one over that. This is loud enough to gig with a small band or you can add a 16ohm cabinet and make it sound larger. Also includes the Vox cover and the original Celestion VT jr speaker. Used in home only. This is a great sounding amp and I'm having some heartburn about selling it but I'm in the streamlining phase of my gear addiction and this unfortunately is near the top of the list.
