Vox VT100X Guitar Amplifier

Roland Jazz Chorus (whether 22, 40, or 120) amp is as essential to/in any "old fashion" studio as Yamaha NS-10M nearfield monitors. The only suggestion to the "manufacturer - retail" chain is to supply cover for it. I bought my first Roland (Cube 100) many years ago and thanks to the cover it still looks stunningly good - my purchase (then) became an investment.My compliments to Roland for the durability and quality of the material it uses for the amps' boxes and for the covers as well as electronics and speakers.

At this price - what could be the gripe ? . . I bought it as a budget alternative to going the obvious route of classic AC30 , pursuing 60s shadows and the like tones ? ..Yes , I am satisfied .The only reservation that I have is that the AC15 is not featured ( I adore this on the earlier AD30 VT but its too small for my regular venue ).. I knew this before buying and it may yet to be found on the PC studio which I have not yet explored . . I am hopeful ! .

A "Different" Kind of Amp For Me...

This is a new venture for me, my first Modeling Amp. I'm older and I've been around and I guess you could say "Old School" but I love gear and I love sound and I love music. The one thing I've never owned is a VOX, until now. I use to lust after the old Thomas VOX Amps that my friends would get; they just had that "Sharp Look"! ...the diamond grill cloth, the chrome dolly, and the sound, really sweet!! Don't get me wrong, I was a Bass player in the 60's and other bass players drooled when I got out my Jazz Bass and B-15. But I played guitar too and love the sound of a Fender or Ampeg amp. For me it wasn't the easiest to set up but I quickly realized it takes experimentation; nothing else can replace the 'hands-on' factor. I find the sounds Amazing! ...I found out that the VFS-5 foot pedal is absolutely essential. And, I'm sure that if the cables I purchased weren't faulty, the VOX Tone Room would have gone a lot smoother but now that it's sorted out, this amp really shines. I have plans for this amp. It's versatility is incredible. I didn't want the 40 watt version because I couldn't deal with a separate 19 volt "wall wart"...I dunno, old school.One thing that disturbs me is that each time you change sounds it reverts your volume setting to "Very Loud" no matter where it was previously set. If I use the AC30 setting and hit a switch any other amp, my Gretsch goes to instant feedback...a warning to any hollow body users. My Strat and Les Paul aren't as particular but it's still very loud and I wish that could be changed. I've owned several of the amps being modeled and the sounds are accurate so I assume the others are close enough too.All in all, it's a keeper and I'm having fun...not an easy task at my age but I close my eyes and I'm back in those early bands again and this time I HAVE THE VOX!!!

Amazing amp

I have owned Valvatronix amps in the past and have always liked the sound but considered upgrading so ordered the Vox AV60 analog modeling amp instead which has rave reviews. After about a week of trying to love the sound I realized I made a big mistake and exchanged it for the new VT100 model. Instantly after plugging in I loved the sound. The amp just simply sound more professiona and refined. I'm not sure why but everything you play though it sounds sweeter. I play everything from clean jazz to over the top metal and this amp does it all. If you want a one trick pony, this is not it. Many sounds, many effects. I love the compression on the clean sounds and at full over the top distortion it has little background noise. I've been using this app for about 2 to 3 months now on small-to-midsize gigs and rehearsals. Performs excellence. Matches up with my GT6 boss processor. Lots of different options. But the head room on the clean setting is amazing. Not super light but light enough to make it easy to carry. Guitar and amp in one trip. Looks good on stage. Lots of fox sounds and aunt Maude's effects. Lush Reverb. Very important to me. I'm probably going to buy another one. So I can stereo send via 57 to the board. It's also condensed my footprint. Extremely satisfied with this amplifier.

Great Modern Amp With Lots of Vintage Sound

Did lots of research. Went for this after a Fender Mustang I bought crashed twice the day I got it. First off this thing is loud if needed. Sound good at low volume too. A little tricky to program online but after a little practice it gets easy. 8 presets is plenty too. Only drawbacks are: no line out (just mic it), not Bluetooth capable for streaming in your tunes and programming the channels, and to connect to a laptop it needs a mini usb which is not too common these days. But overall very satisfied with this purchase. Oh and not made in China too is a plus.

Back then, we didn't have the tone room and I could get it to nail BMFV tone within the first five minutes of tinkering with it had me sold on the product right out of the gate. Here it is a decade later and my little VT20 is still going strong. I wanted something with some more features so I nabbed one of these. HOLY SMOKES! It's as easy to use as the original and has so much more to offer. I also have the little yamaha modeller and a headrush and this gets way more use. I have the VT50 and can't get it fixed.

When I first got the VOX VT50 I liked it and the features. But now it is a huge paper weight and sounds rough. I am an electrical engineer, and asked VOX / KORG for a schematic of this amp so I can fix it. They told me that I can't get one and that I must take it to an authorized repair center. (Their thinking is that after I get the estimate for repair, somehow I will buy another amp from them. NOT!) I spend my days designing complex circuits, have a complete PCB build and repair center here, for my control systems and am an expert in electronics, so why in heck would I ever send any of my electronics out to someone else to repair? They offered no advice on it at all. My next amp will be Chinese, because, they do send out schematics FAST, by email.

Review of Vox Valvetronix VT100X 12 100W Combo Amplifier

Awesome modern modelling guitar amplifier. It simulates most of the top amps of past and present - such as Fenders, Marshalls, Orange (my favorite), EVH, Diezel, Mesa-Boogie and, of course, Vox. Can handle 3 simultaneous effects and is footswitchable. Has a HUGE sound. Only downside is the Tone Room software - it is really frustrating to turn the knobs inside of it, so it would be better if you could just write down the value you want.

Vox VT100X Valvetronix Guitar Amp Combo

Thanks guys for great service and a great price on this amp. Very versatile combo that sounds awesome. If you can't get the right tone with this amp there's something wrong. The only little thing is that it is difficult to find presets for the ToneRoom app you can use to change amp and effect settings. They are out there but take a bit of looking. No biggie. Other than that this amp is sick.
