This was one of the Father’s Day gifts I gave to my husband. He is a coffee lover. The stronger the better. He drinks a ton of coffee and is going in the office about half the time now. This portable espresso maker is absolutely perfect for him to take to work for his coffee breaks. It’s very portable. Barely noticeable in his backpack and he said it made him a wonderful espresso. It now has a permanent place in his work bag.

I have been using this product for about two months. I could offset my coffee expenses in cafes just in a month all preparation included--this product, a hard carrying case, and an 18-ounce ground coffee bag. Even though it seems not to be recommended by the manufacturer, the part that is like a portafilter in a general espresso machine serves two shots. Of course, the second shot is a little milder than the first shot. The ground size and oily beans really matter for this machine. I found the coffeemaking results and the maintenance depend on the ground size. Beans that were too finely ground will make the pump flow backward and no water will go through the portafilter.Speaking of the design, it is good in general for portable uses. Two things should be pointed out. First, the head with metal filter part is hard to dry. Every time I try shake it hard to remove water from the inner part of the head, but the moisture remains. I am little bit concerned about possible problems caused by the moisture. Second, again, the head part and the portable cup which also works as a protective cap of the head is not tightly attached. I should make the head combined with the main pump incompletely to keep the cap tightly attached. I am not sure whether this is a QA or design issue.

The Barista Kit turns the Nanopresso into a fully satisfying coffee making machine. The standard basket that comes with the Nanopresso makes good drinks, but if you want to get closer to a 2:1 yield that you might have come to expect from coffee shops around North America, you need a bigger coffee basket. The Barista kit offers exactly that! The double basket of the Barista Kit easily fits 13.5g of most roasts with only light tapping on the side while transferring the grinds. If you are willing to pre-tamp before fitting the full dose, you can go up to 15g with most roasts, maybe 16g with lighter roasts and a very fine grind. The drinks come out excellent! Rich and creamy, intense and satisfying. The tamper included with the Barista Kit improves the consistency of ... I highly recommend it!

Routinely I am a drinker of a double espresso. While I am ever so impressed with the coffee I get from the original Nanopresso (single shot / short espresso), I listened to another reviewer and went right ahead to get the Barrista Kit. A larger basket (16g double shot) and reservoir do the trick. Tip: be sure to read the enclosed tips regarding use in "non-pressurised mode" for a double shot. Caffè bellissimo!
We have been so amazed at what this little coffee maker can do. We own an expensive La Pavoni professional machine at home, a Bellman for our camping holidays (fantastic also, thank you Alternative Brewing) and now with our family hiking in Victoria all over the place and two kids that drink coffee (yes they drink coffee, remember caffeine is in chocolate and soft drink too!) we needed something light to replace little jars of brewed coffee we were carrying that were heavy, and needed reheating. The Wacaco and additional bigger pod set has been the best buy. We load up the capsules for a day hike, or take some fresh ground coffee for overnight hikes. The espresso is amazing, we believe the crema is far superior to the one we make from our machine. If you are ... MoreWe have been so amazed at what this little coffee maker can do. The espresso is amazing, we believe the crema is far superior to the one we make from our machine. If you are considering this - dont think again. It is soooooo easy to use. For day hikes we take a small thermal bottle of hot water and another of heated milk. For overnight or longer hikes we take our tiny gas stove (360 degrees furno stove) and ground coffee and after a couple of minutes of heating water, we start making the coffee while the milk heats up (we use a sea to summit light weight foldable kettle). So easy. The coffee is amazing, hot fresh and clean up is easy. We are totally thrilled with the two sets we bought. Alternative Brewing once again have provided help when needed and their advice is always spot on. Thank you and please if you are thinking about this dont hesitate its amazing!
I enjoy a good espresso. But a single shot is just a tease. I like a double (or more!). So as much as I love the Nanopresso, the single shot output just wasn't enough to satisfy my coffee cravings. Enter the barista kit. Now I can make a double without my first shot getting cold. The extraction is just as good as the single, and I also like that it comes with extra filter baskets that I can preload, and have ready to use. My only complaint is that it only comes in one color. Wish they offered it in different colors to match the color palette of the Nanopresso.
Hi? I bought a barista kit for nanopresso. However, the bottom of the water tank is not flat, so it tumbles when pouring hot water, and it is very dangerous. For reference, the bottom of the water tank of Nanopresso is flat. I think the water tank of the barista kit for nanopresso that I have is not normal. It's not well made, it's not normal. The dealer in Korea tells me to pour hot water with the espresso cup inserted and then remove the cup and operate it after combining it with the main body. do you think this makes sense?
Very nice, I could finally make a decent White Russian cocktail using the first 35 ml coming out of 16g of coffee with the adapter.Point of criticism though: the adapter Ring is way too smooth. You can fasten the adapter ring pretty tightly while fastening the valve head, since that has a rough surface, BUT you will subsequently have problems unfastening the adapter ring with its smooth Surface, especially when one has overfilled the coffee container and some coffee leaked into the thread. You should either give the adapter some roughness, just like the valve head, or create a tool like a large wrench to remove it in these situations.
What could have been a great addition to the excellent Nanopresso is plagued by what I believe to be some mechanical design or maybe manufacturing defects. My extraction experience with the basic Nanopresso setup (small tank and filter basket) has been smooth and consistent. With the barista kit, I find it quite impossible to get the same results with the same parameters.Besides, the large water tank seems to fit properly only in one orientation (out of the possible three supposedly identical orientations). Wacaco replaced the tank without question, but the result didn't change. I have to carefully find the correct orientation each time or risk scalding myself with the hot water it leaks.Another problem is the fit of the adapter ring. It mates with the cap so ... I have to carefully find the correct orientation each time or risk scalding myself with the hot water it leaks.Another problem is the fit of the adapter ring. It mates with the cap so tightly that sometimes it becomes quite hard to unscrew and remove it. The lack of any gripping affordances somewhat exacerbates the issue.Overall, these issues unfortunately make the barista kit quite sub-par compared to the excellent Nanopresso it is supposed to complement.
I ordered the Nanopresso barista kit so I could make lungos with my Nonopresso. But what you sent me instead was a Nanopresso + NS Adaptor. There were two problems with this; 1) The Nanopresso you sent me appears to have been a reject because it was defective. It was very hard to pump and requires I use my palm and both hands, and secondly the pump makes a large squeaky noise. I wasn't overly pleased with the switch and frustrated. I wish you would have just sent me the Barista Kit.
