Decent. I've just come from an old Garmin (520 Edge), and there are pros and cons to both. Wahoo is good because: bigger screen, easier interface (change fields, etc on phone, not unit, zooming maps), keeping everything in one place (I use Sufferfest (now SYSTM)).Garmin was better for quicker startup, taking breaks between sections of a ride (wahoo does this weird 'restoring ride' bit which takes far too long if you switch off the unit in the middle of a ride), map clarity (includes street names on maps), readability (wahoo uses ALL CAPS FOR EVERYTHING ON SCREEN which makes it much less readable, even with the bigger screen - especially for text notifications). Oh, and the wahoo charging point is dodgy - you have to use a particular cable otherwise it doesn't work ... MoreDecent. Old ones that have been worn down a bit are loose, and they're don't work)I really don't know which I'd pick if I had to choose again - they're much of a muchness. If you're never in a hurry to get going, and like an easy setup, then go with the Wahoo. If your eyes aren't that great on the bike, go with Garmin.

This my second Element. I was pleased with my first. I have a power tap power meter on one of my bikes. This unit paired easily with the power meter. However, many of the power data fields on the unit, most notably the average power field, do not work at all or provide bogus information. Moreover, some of the fields that do work do not work when you have other power related fields displayed on your workout page. Clearly this is a major software bug. After exchanging several emails with Wahoo support, they admitted that this was a problem they were aware of and that firmware needed to be updated to address it. Sorry, but I will not keep the unit while they are debugging. This is something that should occur before the product is released. I have a lot of Wahoo ... MoreThis my second Element. Everything except for one thing is great about the Wahoo Roam - Easy to use, Easy to read with big print, great battery life. What is not great is downloading a route when you are out in the country and there is no wifi. Mapping requires the head unit to be connected to the internet. Hot spot to your phone would be the answer. However hot spotting to the phone with the Wahoo companion app does not work. The official Wahoo answer is to hot spot to your friends phone. I have figured out a workaround. But come on Wahoo - it should not be this difficult! Otherwise love it.

Unfortunately, I had to buy the ROAM because the battery of my ELEMNT stopped working after a little more than three years: it would drop to 60/65% after an hour and furthermore, 100% in the evening (off) then 0% the next morning...PROS : Obviously I like the new device, it is faster in tracking as well as other functions, it has a much improved screen, anti-glare, right weight and size.CONS : The connection via MICRO USB in addition to being outdated, does not always guarantee contact.Surely the next device will have USB C port.During charging, when off or on, unlike the old ELEMNT, it does not signal the charging stage status.Battery : it is new, it runs wonderfully, as basically the old ELEMNT's did when it was new !I have already expressed myself on this ... MoreUnfortunately, I had to buy the ROAM because the battery of my ELEMNT stopped working after a little more than three years: it would drop to 60/65% after an hour and furthermore, 100% in the evening (off) then 0% the next morning...PROS : Obviously I like the new device, it is faster in tracking as well as other functions, it has a much improved screen, anti-glare, right weight and size.CONS : The connection via MICRO USB in addition to being outdated, does not always guarantee contact.Surely the next device will have USB C port.During charging, when off or on, unlike the old ELEMNT, it does not signal the charging stage status.Battery : it is new, it runs wonderfully, as basically the old ELEMNT's did when it was new !I have already expressed myself on this point with the service department : I had to replace my ELEMNT (after a little more than three years), with use of 2-4 times a week, because of a battery that is not replaceable even by the manufacturer ...This is also bad from a sustainability point of view, as well as from an economics point of view : in fact, this policy supports CONSUMERISM, it forces us to trash a device just because of a non-replaceable battery.Let us hope for a healthy improvement.
Love it! Dedicated Wahoo fan, they're simple interfaces with solid, readable displays. The Roam has the same interface as the Elemnt Bolt, easy to transition when I upgraded. Page turns are a bit "slower" but the extra screen size is very welcome. Upgraded as I moved to Di2 and the extra screen size is helpful for additional features (gear selection, power, etc.). Appreciate the colour screen (the new Bolt v2 has this as well) to make grade and other features easier to read (e.g. grade background changes colour based on how steep you're climbing). I probably wouldn't splurge on this if it was my first computer purchase, wasn't on sale and I wasn't able to flip my existing Bolt easily (making the upgrade relatively inexpensive) -- the Bolt did most all the same features.
I ordered the Wahoo Elemnt Roam to replace my former Elemnt, the battery was getting old and weak after a several years. The GPS arrived and I started using it, I have to say I am fully satisfied! As on the Elemnt, pages are easy to set and customize. The GPS is rather accurate and fast to locate, and the battery is yet terrible. I had a full day ride with a route navigation, and it took me about 50% of the battery, which I do appreciate. The color screen makes it even easier to follow and the new function for me -get me back on the right way when you miss the indications- works great. The size is similar to my former bike computer, I think I will be very happy with it.Good:- fast GPS location- accurate signal and positionning on map- Strava connection and live ... MoreI ordered the Wahoo Elemnt Roam to replace my former Elemnt, the battery was getting old and weak after a several years. The GPS arrived and I started using it, I have to say I am fully satisfied! As on the Elemnt, pages are easy to set and customize. The GPS is rather accurate and fast to locate, and the battery is yet terrible. What more should we ask for?I would buy it again if I had no bike computer.
I purchased one and it wouldnât fully charge. I returned and got a new one. And same thing with that one. Because I didnât want to waste another week without it, I kept it. The charging amount is sufficient, but only 2/3 of full charge.Thereâs several things I like about it that were shown in my research. The font sizeâŠit has an option to a zoom in page. But still hard to read some metrics while riding (at least on a MTB and GVB bike when youâre not riding smoothly)âŠthis is especially true for the segment status via the Strava interface. When I returned the first one Wahoo told me their warranty policy would provide me a ârefurbishedâ replacement. I purchased the KICKR in June 2021. When I unboxed the item it was dirty and had oil/ grease smeared on the flywheel and handle. I realise that it was reconditioned, however the appearance made me question how thorough the service was. I have purchased ex-demo items before and they will usually have a data sheet indicating what has been inspected/ repaired. Not in this case. I contacted Wahoo who offered a cadence sensor or heart rate monitor, however I wanted clarity regarding the KICKR i.e. what items had been service. Whilst Wahoo were quick to return my e-mails, I didnât receive clarity regarding what had been reconditioned with the unit. I then asked for a replacement, which to Wahooâs credit was actioned. On receiving the next unit the unboxing revealed a cassette that was so crusted with grime it was unfit to use. I therefore removed the cassette and soaked in petrol. Not a massive job, probably taking an hour. The point again is if equipment is sent out in that condition has it been serviced. There are signs of wear on the cassette, however it needed stripping down to spot them. In short Iâm not sure how well Wahoo service the reconditioned items they sell. I always associated Wahoo with quality and professionalism. Needless to say I donât hold the same opinion. If you do purchase reconditioned equipment be prepared to undertake some work as lightning doesnât strike twice.
I was split bewteen buying the Elemnt Roam or the Garmin 830 but went for the Roam in the end. Ultimately this was because of the re-routing function of the mapping feature. I had seen that if you go off route with the garmin it contantly tries to take you back to the point where you left the planned route, whereas the Roam will re route you to a point to rejoin the ride further along if appropriate - a bit like your car sat nav does! Also I have a Kickr v5 so this syncs with that and I can simulate rides (particularly local hills) indoors. The mapping function is very clear which I like, and the set up and linking between your phone and the Roam is slick.I had couple of initial issues updating the software and had to do this with the device plugged in to power ... MoreI was split bewteen buying the Elemnt Roam or the Garmin 830 but went for the Roam in the end. Also had to delete a couple of the world maps to enable sufficient internal storage for the update but this wasnt really an issue. They can be easily downloaded again if needed.Im not bothered that this device isnt touchscreen as the buttons are good, despite some reviewers saying otherwise. All in all im very pleased with my decision and would recommend this product.
Button integration makes it easy to navigate through the data pages on the screen.I like the buttons on the right side enabling me to zoom in or out to see more or less data fields.QR code pairing process makes it easy to set up.Another great feature is having the ELEMNT app on my phone which makes it easy for me to customise my data fields which happen in real time, a great feature. Not having a touch screen is not important to me as I donât us the navigation as I know weâre Iâm going, however I went for a test ride around my streets and found it easy to use and accurate. Itâs easy to read and use.
