I just replaced my 18" kettle after 30 years of service. A bracket that held one of the legs on literally broke off from rust while I was cooking! Held it up with a garbage can for it's last session. The new one has gone through a few cookouts and has performed as expected. It's nice to have a lid that fits! The only drawback I can see is that flimsy ash tray held up with those clamps. It was so awkward to work with that I cleaned up and painted my 30 year old tray which is a simple lift and twist on to the legs one piece affair. Go back to the old one is my recommendation.

I'm very happy with the Weber 18" grill, holds the heat well and has plenty of room for XL lump charcoal. I've only had hamburgers and T-Bones so far, both were great. Will try smoking pork once I've learned how to control the temperature, it rises to 300+ really quick. I don't have the problem with the handle on the lid getting hot as mentioned in some of the older reviews but it appears the newer models have a heat shield that solved the problem.I recommend watching a YouTube video on assembly, it will save you time and eliminate problems, takes about 15 minutes with the video help.

We moved to a small patio home and I tried a popular pellet grill and it lasted one season before breaking. I went back to basics, an 18” Weber charcoal and am glad I did. It just works and performs like my Webers from years ago. For 2 of now grilling 2-3 times a month it’s perfect. Assembly was easy 30-45 minutes. Delivery was timely as advertised.

This is our 3rd Weber Kettle. The first one had a wooden handle on the lid which never got hot. The last two have had synthetic handles which have gotten extremely hot, and have required using a glove to keep from burning your hand when lifting the lid. The most recent one has heat deflectors to try to keep the handle cool, but it is ineffective. Other than that, I love the way it cooks which is why this is my 3rd Weber Kettle.
Had the same larger Weber for 27 years ,it finally needed replacement, so we bought a Weber little one, almost a table top. It was ok but didn’t work as well as the original kettle design. So, we decided to get back to what we originally had but didn’t need the large size and we saw the 18” that was almost identical to our first one. This grill does a very nice job for grilling. If you enjoy cooking with charcoal, and don’t want to spend a lot of money then the Weber original kettle grills may be the grill for you. Take care of it, and it will provide great meals for years.
I was concerned about the 18" size I purchased to replace a 22" original charcoal kettle, which was not in stock at the time, but it's perfect. Less charcoal used, adequate grill space, less heavy but still substantial not flimsy, easier to store. Assembly took some thought and muscle but took less than an hour. Same great results grilling rib eyes, hot dogs and sausages, foil packets of vegetables.

I Love our 18" Weber Grill! We purchase it on Mothers Day, we've Made Chicken, corn on the cob, watermelon, spare ribs, rotisserrie chicken, steak, Fish, baked potatoes, hot dogs, burgers, meat loaf. We are having so much Fun with our Kettler grill. I love that I can control the temp, actually i just really enjoy grilling with it. We've never grilled before sobwe are learning as we go and the Weber apps recipes are helping US with that learning. Everything tastes so much better on our Weber Kettle grill. 18" is perfect for the two of us.

Finally, and also huge, the three legs now have locking buttons holding them in place. Previously the darn legs would slip out of their sockets when one hoisted the BBQ up to dump the ashes. I had rectified the situation by taping the butt of the leg before inserting into the socket, but the locking buttons are a much better solution.The upshot is, this is a much better piece of equipment that the older models and I expect it will last at least 10 years. That's 10 years of delicious meals prepared by my wife and I, since she does the marinating and I do the cooking. Many thanks to Weber for continuing to improve its product. Even though this is the basic model, it works like a trojan and delivers a great meal, every time.
I purchased this 18" charcoal grill last week, (floor display from local hardware store). Gave away my last 18" and 26" due to moving over 1300 miles away. Sorry I did that !! What a disappointment this one is so far. I was really excited & looking forward to some good BBQ on a charcoal Weber grill. So satisfied with past experience with Weber grills ! First noticed very apparent lower quality. Cooking grill is smaller gauge metal and the fit inside the Kettle isabsolutely Horrible, Very sloppy on the support tabs, slips n slides from one side to the other & doesn't sit level unless it's perfectly centered & in just the right position, which it just can't maintain because there's too much room for movement from one side to the other. The so called Porcelain coating has nicks and imperfections in many places.. just waiting to Rust. The vent on the lid was so tight I could hardly turn it and it had a horrible scratchy, I'm gonna ruin the finish underneath feel to it until I pushed from the bottom through the vent holes to bend the aluminum just enough to relieve the tension & make it easier to turn & less damaging to the finish underneath. I'm almost too embarrassed to go & try to return the thing. I also purchased additional items from Weber in an attempt to make this thing more desirable to use, received those items yesterday. Only now I'm thinking this all was a mistake. I'm now strongly considering returning it all & forget about grilling all together. I sure am tired of feeling like all I do is buy trouble & disappointment, & throw my hard earned money away on junk :(
