Cannot Go Wrong With a Weber Kettle!

I absolutely love this thing! The classic designs works extremely well. This bad boy does everything. It gets as hot as you will ever need, and works great for low and slow. The built-in thermometer is a great accessory too. I have used other charcoal grills owned by friends and family, but this one is far superior. Some of those cheaper grills don't have enough vertical space or will have paint bubble if your hot charcoal gets too close to the side. I've been using a pellet grill for the past decade and got a little bored and wanted to go the charcoal route. I also hated vacuuming that thing all the time too. Getting this Weber Kettle has renewed my love for grilling and I use it as often as I possibly can. This was the best purchase I've made in a long time!

So many options. After hundreds of YouTube videos I realized that many “pitmasters” were comparing their fancy cookers to the Weber kettle. Some even had videos where they used a kettle “just for old time sake”. Got me thinking… why buy a $700 - $1,500 grill or smoker when this gave comparable results for under $300? So I gave it a try. Man am I impressed! SO easy to use. And the smoke flavor it puts into the food is impressive. So far I’ve only cooked pork steaks, country style ribs, chicken breast/wings/thighs. But holy cow. Great grill, poor cover design

As a grill it is great, but took off a stars for the design of the cover. To use the latch to hang the cover on the grill, one has to turn their hand horizontal to the ground (palm up) and secure. It would be much more natural and require less strength to be able to hold the cover handle in a vertical position with your thumb grip facing up. I thought it might have been built incorrectly by the store but there is no other orientation to put on the handle. Also my cover seems a bit warped so the cover does not sit properly without much repositioning. I was told all Weber grills are assembled for customer, but I believe it was a floor model as it had a price tag stuck on lid. No way that occurs out of box, thus being a floor model I think that explains the warping. If ... MoreAs a grill it is great, but took off a stars for the design of the cover. Kettle Premium adds to our family tradition

The Original Kettle grill is my go to standard and holds a real place of honor in our home... This was the model my dad always had on our porch when I was growing up, always a Webber kettle, never propane. After I graduated from college and started making a home with my now-wife, we invited him over to a cook-out for my stepson's 4th birthday. We had a little tiny hibachi from the grocery store we were going to cook hotdogs on. My dad went out and bought us our first Webber as a gift. It meant a lot.We held on to that grill for 15 years! (And technically, it was still in working order for the most part). But this year, just before Thanksgiving, I decided it was time to treat myself to an upgrade. (And technically, it was still in working order for the most part). But this year, just before Thanksgiving, I decided it was time to treat myself to an upgrade. I looked over all the options, but in the end, it was undeniable that the classic kettle grill serves me perfectly, and never complicates the goal and reason I like grilling- standing outside, cooking with fire and smoke, making delicious food that keeps your family close. We live in an urban row home, and this grill is ideal for the front porch. It does not take up much space, it's easy to move around, and (pretty) easy to clean. I never have to plug it into an outlet, and it does not require me to keep a tank of propane sitting around. It's also completely understated- not to flashy or attractive to passers-by, and somewhat unassuming. But in performance, it punches above it's weight- grilling, searing, smoking, I can easily fire it up to grill a couple of sausages or cook a platter of hot dogs and burgers, sear up some chicken thighs or smoke 30 wings, and I've used it for our Thanksgiving turkey for the past 5 years. In buying the new model I was a little skeptical about the price jump to the "Premium" model, but after we've used it 4-5 times, I'm really glad we went with it. The heat shield under the handle is a great improvement (on the last model I had for 15 years, the handle melted after we used some pretty big/dense lump of charcoal on time). I also really love the built-in thermometer. I love using my kettle grill as a smoker, and having the thermometer built-in is really handy. But the biggest improvement is the ash catcher. Having this bin is excellent and really helps keep the ashes tidy and easy to remove and dispose of. I always hated emptying ashes from the old flat plan because they would inevitably spill and blow all over the porch; the new system is super convenient and works perfectly.I 100% commend Webber for keeping this classic piece of home cooking, and making the slight improvements they have. Our son is now 19, and I'm looking forward to the day I can gift him his first kettle grill once he settles down.

Copper! Shiny Copper!! Not only is this grill gorgeous to look at, it is a fantastic charcoal grill to boot. I had my eyes on a gas grill ($$$$), as well as a pellet grill ($$$), but when my wife reminded me of how many fantastic meals we had grilled on our old Weber Charcoal Grill (basic black), I started my search there. This beauty has a few newer and nicer features than our old one, but is essentially a charcoal grill at its root. Although I must say, having the coal/ash collection pot is a ton better than a tray that allows the wind to blow the ashes all over the place...plus it's easier to empty! It's nice to not have to find a place to put these items while everything is getting ready. The copper color is a fantastic choice. It looks wonderful on our back deck, and accents the color of the deck and the brick on our home perfectly. We are sold!

Loving it!
7 July 2022

I'm loving it so far. Because of its simplicity, it's VERY easy to clean. This was the big problem I had with my previous grill which made it not last as long. Simply allow the ashes to collect at the bottom, remove the grate and scrap them through the holes at the bottom of the bowl - easy! The handle to the ash collector is genius and easy to remove.Because of the ease of cleaning, I can tell that this grill is going to last a very long time.Keeping in mind that I love this grill, here's a minor con. I wish that the coal grate could be secured to the lips that keep it in place. If I move the grill slightly, that grate falls out of place. It doesn't keep me from grilling but it is a small pain to place it back on the lips. To keep that from happening, make sure ... MoreI'm loving it so far. That way, it won't slide off. Also be sure to use a long coal rake to move the coals around or the grate will slip off in that as well.I still love it and look forward to years of use.

Recent switch to charcoal from gas
13 March 2023

I have used gas grills for a number of years but recently down-sized and got a charcoal kettle based on very high reviews from a number of sources. These are very initial, novice impressions and I am happy to be schooled.I really wanted to love this product, but now I'm wondering if I should have paid a third as much and got some non-descript brand from Walmart. Two surprisingly mediocre features in an otherwise bullet-proof product:First, the warming rack is awkward and its placement is indeterminate and it can actually slip through the grates. This should not happen. Either make it securable to the stable grilling platform or don't have it.Second, the central "cut-away" in the grilling surface can actually fall through which is puzzling. Why have a portion of the cooking surface that can be nudged or jostled to fall on the charcoal below?Third and again, I am a novice with charcoal, but the design seems to require A LOT of briquettes to maintain high heat. I filled a chimney with briquettes to an inch from the top and got them volcano hot in ten minutes. But once I spread them they quickly burned through and the heat rapidly dropped. No idea how this design gets even close to 500 F but again, that may be my mistake with the venting (I kept the bottom and top vents fully open). Would greatly appreciate any tips that don't involve two whole chimneys of charcoal or a giant pyramid with a pint of lighter fluid.Best regards.

Switched to a Weber Kettle after having many issues with my old propane grill and I should of made this switch a while ago. Not only is charcoal a much simpler grilling method, but the things that a Weber kettle can do out number a propane grill vastly. In the weeks of having my Kettle I have smoked tasty ribs, pulled pork, beer can chicken, and countless other tasty BBQ meals. Many of the above would have been hard on the propane grill mainly the smoked meats. Also with the Kettles sturdy construction and simple operation I don’t have to worry about parts breaking like on a propane grill. And lastly charcoal grilling may not be as quick as propane, but the charcoal taste makes up for it. If you are looking for a grill that does it all and you don’t want to pay the $$$ of a pellet grill I would 100% recommend getting a Weber Kettle. My only complaint of the grill would be the top air vent should have a handle to assist with opening it while hot, but this is nothing a BBQ glove can’t fix. There is also a large market and community revolving around kettle grills so you won’t be hard pressed to find grill modifications and how to videos. 3 additional components that I would recommend to get with your grill would be: a charcoal chimney for starting your charcoal, heavy duty metal tongs for shifting coals, and the Weber Charcoal baskets for better grilling by indirect heat. Even with these add one you are still south $100s of dollars of a pellet grill. 10/10 would recommend.

The original kettle is the best grill on the market. I am a firm believer that cooking on gas or propane is grilling, but not barbequing. It never saw briquettes. The grill held its own, and the new premium has stepped in to pick up where the old one left off. I am impressed and appreciate the redesigned ash catcher. The thermometer in the lid is an excellent addition. No more holding palms over the fire and counting, "one thousand, two thousand" for very hot, "three thousand, four thousand" for medium, and "five thousand, six thousand" for add more charcoal and wait.I look forward to another 18 years of use, but this time, I'll ensure the bag of mesquite charcoal isn't too close to the grill to catch fire and melt the tires. The printed directions were not as clear as they once were. I don't like fussing with my phone to assemble anything. The screen is too small. The use of petroglyphs to cover assembly in all languages needs better drawings or words. This is the fifth Weber in my life, and the wheels are the same pain in the neck and frustration to install as they were when I assembled my first Weber in 1972. Some things just haven't improved with age.
