I read the reviews and a couple of youtube videos before I ordered the Sear Grate from Home Depot. It arrived earlier than expected and it works great. To solve the heat issue one of the reviewers posted, I recommend using the Weber Chimney to set up your coals. If you fill up the chimney with coals, you should have enough heat to get your grill to 400 degrees, perfect for searing ribeyes (approx.4 minutes on each side for medium). It also seared my chicken breasts, hot dogs and corn with ease. I'm looking forward to grilling this summer!

Does as described in marketing. Food cooks / sears more evenly compared with the cast iron ring this replaces. Understand must not be cleaned with *** *** as is ceramic covered in almost non stick material (enamel? Like the griddle pan?) but it goes in washing up sink and is easy clean. Weber please could you clarify the reason why the Sear Grate and the Griddle are such great products Cheers. *** from Hereford UK

I have only used this tool once but it worked beautifully searing perfectly a large fillet of Ahi ( Yellow fin Tuna). I sprayed the grate with a non stick spray before using it and the fish did not stick as I turned it over. I will try meat on the next use. Based on how it worked with fish, I believe meat will be easy to sear perfectly.

Great addition to the bbq experience. It holds the Webber name and it a solid iron centre. It's very heavy but gives you the classic criss cross sear in the meat. Also gives you the same in veggies and halloumi too

I have just used the sear grate for the first time. I was rolling some asparagus across the grate and noticed three cracks across it. I’m afraid it will crack all the way across and fall in the coals.
Creates perfect sear marks. Requires a bit more effort to clean. It is worth it for the beautiful sear marks.
Very well made. Just need to make sure you use enough fuel to get it hot enough for sear marks. Overall I'm very happy with it and look forward to using it in the future
The sear grate accessory is made for fitting to the Performer range of grills. However it is not designed to be easily removed with the weber hand tool. This means once it is being used it must remain in situ or be removed with the weber gloves. Therefore if the coals need to be rearranged this action must be completed before it gets too hot. Disappointing!
Weber sear grate creates a nice criss/cross pattern on meat which enhances the taste. Grate is also easy to clean.
