Awesome for steaks! Bought 2 and they replaced my other grates. For the 3 burner Weber they sit right in perfect. For the 4 burner grills they sit on top. Just switch out the grates depending on what I’m cooking. Give steaks a nice diamond pattern.

In theory this is a great idea but when placed on a Genesis II 435 it will not fit well, it overlaps with the other griddle and it seems higher. Also, yjis item does not retain well heat, searing marks might be ok but what really matter is not the looks but food well cooked, that means )for the real steak lovers), a great crunchy sear and a medium rare in the inside. This does not happen, Im not sure why but high heat is difficult to achieve.

I’m becoming a little concerned with Weber branded accessories. This is the fourth I have purchased and each one has disappointed.I recently purchased a Genesis II LX 610-NG (6 burner) grill. This charring grate sounded like a good idea, but though it was advertised as made for the Genesis II & IILX, it was a clumsy fit at best. It is not as wide as the stainless grate it replaces (by about an inch) which means that it slides around when you try to use a spatula on it. And, it’s too tall. When it’s cold that’s not a problem (except cosmetically) but when hot it expands and you can’t close the lid of the grill without scraping it against the grate!I went back to the stainless grate after about a month. Will be great but it a bit short, leaving space on the end!! But did I need it ?? Sure, do I use not yet,, cause the grill grates it came with are great Weber is all around the Best !!
I am referbishing My Genius grill and replacing many parts including the cooking box cover etcetra!Having an engineering background I want to comment on how well the Genesis Gold barbecue is engineered from an assembly point of view. A minimal number of screws screw into plastic inserts that facilitate easy disassembly. Assembly parts fit snugly and are sturdy when assembled. Bravo to thedesigning engineers.
I have a Genesis and I bought the one with the SST bar grates. I love it as it can be cleaned back to the metal by doing a burn. I have the sear section, and I let the grate heat up with the burners on high. I get perfect grate marks on both sides of the steak. All the while a smoke box is running on the right side for finishing the steaks with smoke. I kept my charcoal Weber but never use it as the gas one works so darn well. I am not sure what this advertised grate would do differently, as I can get criss-crossed marks if I want by rotating the meat after the first 30 seconds. I gave it 4 stars as perhaps it helps if you don't have the setup I do. While on vacation I used the smaller Weber gas grill and it was horrible for searing (not enough heat).
Just received our grate on Sunday (03 April 22) and we used it the same day. Grilled pork chops and they turned out great. Looking forward to steaks this weekend. Why doesn't it fit my grill (2021 Genesis II -335 LP) better? There is at least 1/2 in gap on each side of grate. However, we're sure happy with our first grilling.
Fit perfect on Weber summit grill. Installed over sear burners but can easily be removed and original grates replaced when needed. Makes searing a steak so simple. Three minutes each side and the move to lower temperature area to finish in about three more minutes for a perfect one inch thick steak done medium rare. Exactly what I was looking for!
Grid pattern is very large, almost an inch square. I was expecting a much tighter pattern with narrower grates. I wanted to grill mark fish and steaks in a fashion that restaurants prepare. I didn’t need to purchase Weber Sear Grate to accomplish a cross hatch pattern of grill marks when all i had to do is a series of 90° turns of food being grilled. Disapointed to say the least.
Worked great however didn't last very long (used on a Genesis II E-335). Grate developed cracks in less than a year, then broke in half. Not what I expect from Weber.
