I thought I would get a New Weller Soldering Iron, having looked at the Video. I heats up much quicker too, and it has the three LED illumination lights at the front that help in dark situation. All in all a great improvement

Perhaps I didn't look hard enough but I couldn't find a British made electric soldering iron. There were plenty made by goodness knows who, goodness knows where, but having watched a few John Ward video reports on various Far Eastern electrical products, a German Weller seemed to be a better choice. When it arrived the package said 'made in Mexico' but, it would be nice to think, it was to German standards. It appears to be well made, the extra tips, which were pre-tinned, in the kit have been useful, but most of all I have confidence in it. My only criticism is that the LEDs are not very powerful.

Works really well and cranks out the heat! I was using a 60w model from another brand with a pointed tip and it just couldn’t heat up the car stereo wires enough to melt the solder and just made a mess. So I decided to try this more powerful iron which also had a decent max temperature stated on the box which cheaper irons do not mention. The extra heat plus the chisel style tip to help with heat transfer got the solder melted fast and made the job easy and neat. I definitely recommend this soldering iron.

Great for the home body trying to do basic stuff
Purchased Bunnings about 4 weeks ago and initially totally satisfied with soldering performance. However tip corroded within 2 weeks and finding a replacement has been impossible. Bunnings do not stock the tips for this iron.
I am a begginer in leaded glass panel making. I needed a decent soldering iron to solder the lead came joints. I spnt many many hours creating my window and ruined it because the soldering melted the came joints as i went to solder it. I believe the 100 watts irons are temperature controlled and less likely for this too happen. I wouldn't reccommend the iron i bought for the purpose I bought it for. Perhaps it was my fault but think others should know about this. leaving that problem my only other dissapointment is the 3 LED lights that do not light up anything and are a waste of time . The only good point of the lights is that you can see that the iron us on !
Reaches required temperature quickly ( approx. 2 minutes ). LED lights assist accuracy and ease of use. Would recommend for work on guitar wiring.
This iron gets hot quickly, and if not used the body even glows red hot. This is not a fault, but just shows how much power this has. I used it to change a micro USB port on a tablet and combined with a good flux makes this iron unstoppable. Highly recommended
Lights flicker rapidly, very distracting. Other than that its ok. Knowing my luck its flickering leds is not meant to happen and out of the hundreds across all the bunnings i got the only defective one. Not returning it packaging is long gone. ill just cover the lights up until i get a new one without lights, really thought it was a novel idea, dont go for something that has a novel idea attached. Lesson learnt. Products ok otherwise
I had one of these for over 30 years and it served me relyy well never let me down ever. I broke my rule of never lending tools and it came back broken. Luckily this new one is equally as good as the one from the 80's so I'm very happy. and re learned Never lend out anything you value.
