Wellness Core Grain Free Small Breed Adult Dry Dog Food 1.8kg

I fed this to my older dog (now almost 11) for 4 years before he developed a sensitivity to poultry. I have another dog, Mia, now whom I fed the puppy version of this food until she was a year old and she loved it, so naturally we moved up to this food once she hit a year old. With all the worry about grain free foods potentially causing heart issues, we’d tried to switch Mia to a grain-inclusive food but she had diarrhea and vomiting when we tried gradually switching her food that progressively got worse. My older dog also did very well on it until we had to switch him because of poultry, and his fur hasn’t been the same on his new food, very lackluster, but that could be due to his age as well. I’m not sure. All in all I highly recommend this food for small breed adult dogs who have to have grain-free food! I also want to note that this food contains taurine, which is suspected to help prevent the heart problems associated with grain-free foods. Thanks Wellness!

marshy_themaltese - I tried so many different brands of food, including the super fresh, super marketed Farmer’s Dog. Marshy loves soft food but it was causing her stomach and allergy issues (diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and a crazy amount of tearing). After months of research and vet visits, Wellness Core Natural Dry Dog Food was recommended for this sensitive pup with a very selective taste. It’s been about 4 months since we started transitioning to this food and we’ve found a winner. Her stomach issues have all ceased and she’s the healthiest she’s ever been.The extra cherry on top? This food is super low maintenance compared to the others we tried. Thank goodness! 😆

I won’t claim to be an expert on dog food and it’s ingredients but dogfoodadvisor.com rated this food very highly. We switched our very finicky Yorkshire terrier from merrick grain free to this mainly because it was getting harder to get the duck blend offering from merrick. The grain free aspect of this food is a must for our little guys coat and we were hesitant to switch his food. After considerable research, this flavor/price/kibble size seemed to offer the best value.We are almost 4 weeks into the food transition and have seen zero problems. In fact, I believe our pup prefers this food to anything we’ve ever given him. His coat is still silky and we’ve experienced zero allergic episodes during the transition.

Core original vs Core Small Breed Original

I have two dogs - a Rat Terrier and a Jack Russell mix. Spayed females, both adults. I recently switched them from Wellness Core Original to Wellness Core Small Breed Original. What I noticed after one week is that they still appear hungry after their meals. I feed them morning and night 1/2 cup each time. With the regular size Core they were fine on that amount and always satisfied, but since on the small breed Core they don’t appear to get enough food. So, I checked on the Wellness website and the Core Original has more calories than the Core small breed. Also there is a difference in feeding guidlines as to the amounts to feed between the two foods. WHY?????

Our Bichon, Arabella, has done very well with Wellness CORE Natural Grain Free Small Breed Dry Dog Food. We switched to this because it is grain free and will better control her weight. No need for carbs which only add unwanted pounds. We add a teaspoon of wet food twice a day but this is the foundation. She has thrived. Her stools are regular and firm. We can also order on line and pick it up as needed at our local Petco or have them ship it. We want to support local brick and mortar pet stores as they are here if you need them.

If you can afford it, buy it.

Like the small kibble. Easier for my older chihuahua to chew. I like the ingredients. My chihuahua gets upset stomach problems a lot, but so far no problems with this food. He sits at the dish till its gone. Before he would walk each piece of food away from the dish with all the other foods. Its been a week now, but so good so far. After research, this food was listed in every good list of top 10.The only con I have is that it is a bit pricey. Luckily chihuahuas don't eat much.

Love the Grain Free

We have been using Wellness dog food for 10 years. Our beagle and jack russell like the food. We have used the wet toppers you offer and of course they love it. We really like the grain free the most. Lately as our dogs have aged they needed more vitamins, joint support and digestion aid. We started using Instinct Raw Boost Mixers and wow what a difference they have made. We will always use Wellness as the main meal. My only wish was that you had bigger bags for the small kibble for small dogs.

Our Shih Tzu/Bichon mix has been eating this food since he was about 7 months old & he's 16 months old now. He absolutely loves it & never leaves any behind! Firm, predictable stools after meals. Coat is shiny & thick & he has lots of energy! He's a very healthy dog! I had researched lots of brands of food prior to getting him & I kept coming back to CORE. I had originally started him out on the puppy formula with chicken as the primary ingredient & he ate it but was never really excited about it. As time went on, he started to leave pieces behind & wouldn't finish. That's why at 7 months I made the switch to this with turkey as the main ingredient & it made all the difference & ended up being awin! Great product!!

My miniature schnauzer (and his tummy) love it!

My miniature schnauzer Tyson is 3 1/2 and has struggled with tummy problems. I switched his food brand a year ago and I thought he was getting better, but after a while I noticed he was not digesting it well, either. I started doing my research and switched his food again, this time to Wellness Core small breed. Tyson has been on this food for about a month and I can really tell a difference- he goes to the bathroom more regularly, no difficulty when eating, and he even has more energy! I never expected changing his food to have such an impact. And he also likes the food, which is a bonus! We’ll be sticking to this food!

I had been feeding my 8 yr old rescue Bichon the senior Wellness core kibble. He didn't always want to finish it as I don't believe he liked the bigger size kibble. I had previously used another highly rated smaller size kibble for seniors by another manufacturer. Once I switched to this Wellness Core Small Breed kibble he is again licking his bowl clean. I can only hope Wellness will eventually offer a Wellness Core for seniors that is ideal for small breeds.
