Alright for gluten free. I'm not usually a fan of gluten free biscuits. However, these scotch fingers impressed me, particularly the dairy free chocolate. The chocolate tasted pretty good. It does melt pretty quickly so it can get quite messy. The biscuit is bit drier compared to normal scotch fingers, but I wasn't put off too much by it. I wasn't a huge fan of the aftertaste and the grainy texture of the biscuit though. The texture and bicarb soda taste clings to your tongue long after the biscuit is finished.

Very dry and salty. Scotch finger biscuits is a family favourite of ours. When my daughter was a toddler she used to ask us for "finger scotch, please" which was so cute we had to give her one. So we were very excited to try this choc coated version. Unfortunately this gluten free version took the fun out of the biscuit. I understand that scotch fingers are buttery, I don't understand why removing the butter makes it gluten free. I'm sure someone can school me on that. Lactose free perhaps, but not gluten. Anyway, what we have here is a biscuit that was grainy in texture and incredibly dry. So dry in fact that it's a solid biscuit to eat. Without it I would have been left with a very salty after-taste. I have no idea if I'm gluten intolerant or not, sometimes the way my gut plays up I've often wondered. But even if I was gluten intolerant I doubt I could tolerate this packet, knowing how good the real thing is. This packet is found in the health food section amongst the gluten free range, near all the chia seeds and healthy things. I found a pack of almonds on sale nearby, I'll nibble on those rather than these biscuits next time.

A little dry but pretty good! These were found in the gluten free section, not the biscuit aisle, so take a little finding if you are not familiar with where these products are located. Being a fan of regular scotch fingers, these compared reasonably well, but without the butteriness of genuine shortbread. The texture was a little dry but the flavour and crispness was good. The dark chocolate coating really made them, probably taking away some of the dryness. At $2. 70 for a 160g packet, these are $1. 69/100g, compared to brand name scotch finger biscuits at $1. 32/100g. This isn't too bad for a gluten free product, but it would be lovely for those with dietary issues if they didn't have to pay a premium for products. At least the range is improving and products like this prove that gluten free and flavour can go hand in hand. These are made in Australia but from only 43% Australian ingredients which is disappointing. The plastic pack can be returned to store with the soft plastics. We do not require gluten free products so will not purchase again for ourselves, but it was nice to try to compare to regular biscuits. It is also handy to know what to buy if a gf friend comes to visit!

Not too bad. Product located in the health food aisle. $3. 20 for 8 biscuits. 1. 5 HSRMade in Australia from at least 43% Australia ingredients. The thin layer of chocolate coating enhanced the taste a bit better compared to the Woolworth GF Scotch fingers that I have previously sampled. Not too sweet, however the biscuits itself lacks that buttery, melt in your mouth texture that regular scotch fingers have. I personally wouldn't purchase again. However, they could be an option for those with dietary restrictions.
Didn’t love this. I don’t need a gluten free biscuit, but was interested in trying this as I have family members that have coeliac disease. I’ve bought other “free from” woollies biscuit products before…As a biscuit it’s also soy/egg free which means it’s very versatile when entertaining. For me - I don’t love the taste of this, perhaps as I love the gluten-containing scotch finger. I missed the creamy mouthfeel of this biscuit compared with the gluten containing biscuit, I didn’t mind the dark chocolate addition but didn’t like the aftertaste of the shortbread biscuit - I felt it fell short, it was bland. In contrast however the younger members of the household thought this biscuit was great! They liked how the biscuit “melted in their mouth “, they loved the ... MoreDidn’t love this. In contrast however the younger members of the household thought this biscuit was great! They liked how the biscuit “melted in their mouth “, they loved the chocolate based ( but would have preferred milk chocolate rather than dark). Cost was very reasonable for a gluten/egg/dairy speciality biscuit. If I needed a biscuit that ticked any or all of these categories I would consider it - but that’s mostly because I know the children love it and will eat it too!!!
Wonderful Alternative. Although I am not strictly gluten intolerant, I find if I do eat some gluten free products like biscuits and bread, my gut health seems to be much happier. Therefore, I was very happy to receive this sample, especially when there is chocolate involved. Easy to find in my local store, I enjoyed a couple of these with a morning cuppa. I found them to have a nice texture and flavour, and didn't crumble all over my morning paper. Now to compare apples with apples, the closest I could do was this brand vs the named brand that is gluten free, but without the chocolate layer. These are $1. 69 per 100gm whilst Arnotts is $2. 76 per 100gm, so the cost for the Woolies ones wins hands down.... and there is the bonus chocolate! Putting aside the origin, I would definitely buy these, but would love to see more ingredients. Thanks Bunch for the opportunity to try these.
I wouldn't call these Scotch fingers. I would not call these Scotch Fingers. They have the same style but that's where it ends. The colour is definitely very pale as represented in the photo in comparison to gluten containing scotch fingers. However as someone who does not have food intolerances, overall these biscuits are pretty good - but do not expect an actual scotch finger. You won't offend anyone by serving them up, it just won't be what they are expecting. bht keep in mind there is only 8 in a pack The chocolate on the back is also soft. So even when it isn't a warm day expect to have choccy fingers. I would recommend these to those with gluten allergies
Great GF Biscuit. Knowing what regular biscuits taste like and being able to eat both and compare, I am lucky to be in the seat where I can recommend good GF biscuits. With that being said, I am happy to say, that these are GREAT biscuits!!!!In comparison, these are a little crunchier, a little sweeter and a bit less buttery than the regular scotch finger, but everything else is the same. The sweetness may come from the chocolate base (which I really liked). These came in the expected packaging - soft outer plastic, with a more rigid plastic frame to hold the bikkies in. The outer plastic is recycled by returning to the store, the frame is normal recycle bin. No additional protection for these treats, and surprisingly none were broken. These also came with perfect timing for fathers day, as my GF father-in-law came for a visit. Having these on hand to offer with a tea was super handy. He hadn't had these before, so he, Mrs Shepherd & Ms kiddie Shepherd (6) all tried these for the first time together. They were all very impressed with the flavour and texture. These will most definitely become a regular purchase for this house. With a cost of $2. 70 for 8 biscuits, it won't break the budget, but it's a treat food that can be eaten and enjoyed by all, so it's worth it here.
Nice alternative. Easy to locate in the biscuit aisle with packaging that displays exactly what’s inside with the photo image of the biscuit. Containing a 1. 5 health star rating these really are a treat for those that require a gluten free biscuit. Pack also contains only 8 biscuits so a bit expensive as well at $2. 70 ($1. 69 / 100G). They do however taste almost the same as non gluten free scotch finger biscuits. Nice and crisp with a really thin layer of chocolate that isn’t quite dark chocolate yet not milk chocolate. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives is a plus and best before date was almost 1 year (if you would keep them that long unopened). Best to buy when on special to store.
Quite Surprised. I found these gluten free chocolate scotch finger biscuits full of flavour and well balanced with the chocolate. They are dairy free, soy free and egg free and contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Made in Australia from at least 43% Australian ingredients. Would be nice if more Australian ingredients were to be used. Overall a great quality gluten free scotch finger biscuit that does taste great. Good price at $2. 70 for a 160g packet. Would definitely purchase in the future for visitors and highly recommend anyone to give them a try.
