Very Convienient! This Woolworths Microwave Brown Rice is so convenient and an easy way to get some fibre rich, whole grains in to the diet! It has a lovely, nutty taste and goes well with just about any addition . I believe it would be healthier to boil your own brown rice as this does contain the stabiliser 471 and antioxidant 307b. Made in Thailand.

WOW Steamed Brown Rice with Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon. The Woolworths steamed brown rice 250 g tasted great and had a pronounced nutty flavour. I shared the meal with a family member and choose some Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon approx 200 g. The meal also included some roasted vegetables such as pumpkin, potatoes and carrots. The fish had some lemon to compliment the the flavor and blend with the vegetables and steamed rice. What I liked about the rice was that it is gluten free source of whole grains and fibre. The best part for me was that only takes 90 seconds in the microwave and the instructions are very easy to follow. The portion size was just right and the rice would compliment a stir fry dish such as chicken or beef.

Very good but not excellent. Standing in front of the empty rice shelves at Woolworths, the woman standing next to me suggested I try the steamed brown rice. She said it had a nice nutty taste (could not work that out until I actually tasted it) and that it was reasonably priced ($1. 50 for 250g). I said I could not read the cooking instructions so she told me that you could cook half the contents for 45 seconds (in a microwaveable container) and refrigerate the rest (for two days). I had half the packet this evening and was quite pleased with the texture, softness and fluffiness. It was a very good “base” rice but I needed to add salt to lift it a bit. For the other half of the packet I am going to add some corn, peas and carrot and perhaps a bit of tinned smoked ... MoreVery good but not excellent. I had to take off half a point on my rating as the rice is a product of Thailand but I will be buying it again.

Very impressed. Must admit I was quite skeptical about this Product due to it being cooked in the microwave & being Rice which can often go very wrong. Especially Brown Rice, it's not easy to get it right at the best of times & normally takes quite a long time to cook. But wow, was overwhelmingly surprised & delighted. The grains were cooked perfectly, fluffy & could see every grain of rice. There was definitely no gluggy, sticky clumps of rice, every grain separated perfectly. It had a very pleasing aroma & slight nuttiness that was subtle but distinctive & delicious. After eating part of it & having the rest of my Family Members taste it, I quickly oven baked some Red sliced Capsicum, sliced Zucchini, Carrot, Onion until just cooked. After eating part of it & having the rest of my Family Members taste it, I quickly oven baked some Red sliced Capsicum, sliced Zucchini, Carrot, Onion until just cooked. Transfer mix to a frypan or saucepan, add drained & washed can of Red Kidney Beans, the cooked Woolworths Select Microwave Brown Rice, a touch of salt, small pinch of Chilli & Moroccan seasoning. Heat only enough until all warmed. Grab some Tortilla's & a little grated cheese. Fill the Tortillas with the Brown Rice Vegetable mix, a small sprinkle of cheese & serve. My whole Family absolutely loved them which again was quite surprising when Hubby who has ever been a rice fan was even raving about how delicious it was & asking when we were having it again. This Woolworths Select Microwave Brown Rice is so quick & easy to prepare & I've found it is a must have in any Families or persons Pantry. It's so adaptable & the perfect base to add whatever you like to it. I find even on it's own as a side dish it's a great source of vitamins, minerals & fiber which we know helps lower cholesterol. Brown Rice has many other health benefits, but just because it is, doesn't mean it can't be tasty as well. For me personally as I am a Vegetarian, this is brilliant as I don't have to take even more time to prepare & cook 2 different meals most times, 1 for me & 1 for the Meat eaters in my Family. I can easily put this is the Microwave for myself to make a no fuss, quick tasty dish whenever I like. I love this product & it is now a new very welcome Pantry staple in our home. You really need to give this Product a try, it's a winner!

Rice. I like to use microwave rice as I’m terrible at cooking rice from scratch lol. This product is really good. Besides cooking as is, in the pouch in the microwave, I’ll often cook it up, sort of like a stir fry, with some veges and meat, then add the rice through, without cooking in the microwave, but cook it in the pan with veges. It has a nice texture, not mushy, not hard. So convenient in the pouch, this size is the prefect size for my family of 3, we don’t need bigger portions, so no wastage.

Family size is 450g. Firstly, the instructions on which pack to get were inaccurate: I got the "family size" pack because I remembered in store that the words "family size" were used. So I got the 450g pack which was marked on the packaging as the "family size" one, only to be charged at the checkout. I was in a rush so didn't get a chance to sort out what happened. Looking at the pic above, the pack you meant for us to get was the 250g one, ie. serves 2, definitely NOT family size. Grrrrr. As for the product itself, it was pretty decent. I liked the texture once microwaved, would definitely be a quick and easy option for a work night. I used it to make a fried rice sit fry with vegies and pork, similar to many of the contributors below. Predictably, the adults ... MoreFamily size is 450g. Great convenient alternative. Whilst I batch cook white rice, I don't eat brown rice all that often, and I wanted a quick alternative that was a little healthier for my meal. Super speedy heating time of 90 seconds. Rice was a little softer than I would like, however for the convenience and price, worth it. Would like to know on the packet if they are able to be redcycled or not - this would impact my future purchasing.

NOT TO BAD AT ALL. First thing I noticed about the product is that it did not stand out on the shelf it was quite dark and it took me a little while to find it. But any way I decided to tried something a little different with this. I did not follow the instructions on the packet. I got out my good old trusty wok. Waited for it to heat up and placed the rice straight into wok. No oil used or water, It worked really really well. It did not clump together it heated up nicley. I then proceeded to add my pre cooked garlic, onions and mushrooms, peas and corn which I sauted in water. And I tell you what it tasted pretty good it was a great texture, The rice was not hard it was soft and Moist. I think there is an ample amount of rice in the packet for two maybe even three when it is bulked out with veg and other items added like bacon or salami even some black olives. But I kept it a little simple. Would I buy this product again, Yes I would, I think it would be great to take camping as well as using at home it was quick, easy and very convenient.

Perfect brown rice. I loved this brown rice! I'm usually trying to find new ways to sneak healthy foods into our meals, and the boys could not even tell that I had fed them brown rice instead of white. I served it with slow cooked lamb shanks and vegetables and it went down a treat. The texture was very soft, akin to that of cooked white rice. In the past, I have tried brown rice from other brands, and they have come out with a slightly chewy texture. The flavour was quite normal, nothing out of the ordinary. The same goes with the smell. No complaints there. Overall, I enjoyed this product, and appreciated that the fussy people eating it had nothing bad to say.

Very Much Surprised. I'm not a big fan of rice usually, possibly because I am the worst rice cooker in the world. Usually turns out over-wet or undercooked and I end up with way too much (bad) rice, so I don't bother. And it can be messy as I turn my back and it's boiled over. Hence I was a bit underwhelmed when I discovered my first product to review was rice. Well, particularly for a single person, this is the way to go. The packet produces 2 serves. Great! One for now and one for later. The instructions are spot on. Excellent so far. Tasted it straight after cooking and the texture is perfect. I allowed it to cool and used a recipe from this website, Staple Fried Rice, just adjusted the quantities to suit the 2 serves in the packet. Just beaut. I am thinking this product would also be great to use in a salad, maybe with tinned tuna, green beans and whatever else I have hanging around. No more cooking rice from scratch for me. Oh, and it's quite reasonably priced at $1. 50 per packet.
