THIS SALMON IS SMOKINâ. I am not a huge fan of tinned fish, particularly salmon, (I remember as a kid being scared of getting a bone stuck in my throat), hence it has taken me a while to get around to trying it. What a pleasant surprise. No bones or chunks, more like a tuna texture. The flavour said âlightly smoked â and it did have that flavour. The thing I did really like was the after taste of chilli that lingered in your mouth. The perfect burn meter, not overpowering but great aftertaste. I had this as a light lunch on a piece of sourdough but it could easily be extended to a larger meal eg stirred through pasta or rice, served with a salad or even a snack on crackers. The 95g is a perfect size for lunchboxes as school or work. At just under half the price of ... MoreTHIS SALMON IS SMOKINâ. Good handy salmon tin. I donât buy this size tin salmon regularly, and I was looking in the tin tuna section at Woolworths trying to find this variety of tin salmonOnce my brain was focussed again, which took a few minutes, I found this tin salmon easily. Both the tin tuna and tin salmon were on the top shelves, which is great to select and see what variety you want. The price is $1. 40 for 95g which is good and affordable for an easy lunch or snack. The can opens with a ring pull. It needs a firm grip and just pull the ring. I decided to make a toasted sandwich and just lightly buttered the bread, spread the salmon and added some cheese and toasted in fry pan. I didnât mind the flavour, it had a slightly smoky taste, and was pleasant to eat. I probably would buy ... MoreGood handy salmon tin. Excellent cupboard staple. I must say this really is a great product. It's tasty, healthy, and easy to use in all types of meals. I have used it in sandwiches, croquettes and various throw-together salads and it's always been consistently good. The slight smokiness adds an extra element to the flavour without being too overpowering, which makes it really versatile. It's also free of any nasties, which makes me very happy! Also, the salmon is responsibly caught and is designated as Certified Sustainable Seafood by MSC. orgAs long as Woolworths keeps stocking this I'll keep buying it. It's always handy to have a few tins of this in the cupboard for quick lunches & dinners. Nice price as well, when compared to other similar products.
Lightly smoked is quite nice. You just never know when something is 'smoked' how it is going to turn out. There are so many smoked products out there... from lightly smoked to double smoked to triple smoked.... the list goes on. We tried the springwater version of this salmon to start, quite bland and water like taste (obviously). The initial opening of the tin saw like a speckle red over the salmon, which I'm guessing was some sort of flavouring. Upon the first spoonful I was pleasantly surprised, this lightly smoked taste was spot on! Enjoyed it alot.... two seconds later though it was almost a little washed out. Whether that was the watery salmon coming through or I'm not sure but I wish the very first smoky flavour stayed longer. Either way I thought the lightly ... MoreLightly smoked is quite nice. Hmmm... I'm conflicted about this product. Not bad but I don't love it!Found this easily. Colour on packaging helps distinguish between the different flavours. Has ring pull, which is fantastic. All cans need to have this nowadays!I didn't like that the salmon was broken up into small pieces!! I don't usually buy small cans so unsure if it's the norm?? But it really ruined the texture for me. The salmon wasn't dry (there was some liquid in the tin) - thumbs up. It does have a lightly smoked flavour as the tin suggests. Not a whole lot of salmon flavour. The salmon was also very pale compared to the usual light pink colour I see in other tinned salmon. Very convenient to take with for an office lunch. I will consider this if there are no brands half price.
You can say âSalmonâ again. Found in the canned fish aisle but there arenât many salmon ones to choose from. Appealing packaging with a salmon coloured label. Easy to open ring pull on can. Greeted with a very fishy aroma. Surprised to find the salmon as tiny little pebbles almost like minced meat rather than longer chunks/pieces of salmon. Easy to spread on crackers or whatever you choose. Pleasantly surprised with the flavour of this Wild Alaskan Salmon with lightly smoked flavour. I thought it had a little spicy kick to it and sure enough upon reviewing the ingredients âchilli powderâ was listed ď¸I enjoyed the whole can on my own on an assortment of crackers. Priced at $1. 40 for 95g. 4 âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ health rating. Responsibly caught salmon Happy to purchase again

Tasty fish good for you (in more than one way!). Salmon is recognised as being full of good things like essential fats, Omega 3. Choosing this salmon can also make you happy that you are supporting good fishing practices, as it is certified as coming from a well managed and sustainable source by global agency Marine Stewardship Council. The tin was the perfect size to have as an ingredient to a meal, like a serve of pasta or a salad. I chose to have mine on a sandwich, which I shared with my child. The tin was easy to open with a pull tab, and it could easily be drained by pressing the lid down on the contents and upending. I tend to go for tinned fish in springwater rather than oil, but I was happy that this fish wasn't super oily or greasy once drained. It tasted like other smoked products which is to say, the flavour was evident but not exactly what I would consider 'natural'. I was concerned when I read the product contained chilli since I was going to share it with my 18 month old, but I couldn't really detect any heat. And the kid loved it!It didn't have a strong salmon flavour, and tasted less fishy than tuna. The texture was a nice surprise - I thought it might be in larger chunks but it was quite fine, making it easy to spread on a sandwich. Would purchase again. Very good to have in the cupboard for an easy snack or to knock up a quick simple meal. One note re: the environmental credentials: While I applaud Woolworths for certifying their seafood, I would love to see this taken further. This 'Wild Alaskan' salmon was packed in Thailand from multiple sources, from locations undetermined, then sent to Australia. I would love to have greater transparency on the journey (ie. carbon footprint) of my food.
Satisfying Convenient salmon. We decided to have a light lunch this Sunday as we made plans to have a Thai dinner at one of our favourite restaurants As this product is packaged in Thailand I thought what a coincidence and spread the contents out over some tomato and cheese with maybe beetroot in the rolls. Had no problem finding the product In Woolworths as there were other varieties and brands as well but the writing on the tin could be a bit more different and clearer from the rest as had to go through each variety. Even though only 95g it surprisingly enough to fill two rolls but definitely worth adding other fillings as well.. Though if you had it alone could be satisfied with two.
