Work Sharp WSBCHPAJ-PRO - Precision Adjust Pro Knife Sharpener

Works very well. My only gripe, which is a nit-pick, is that the holes are a little larger than necessary. The plate can wobble some. In use, however, this is not really an issue, as the magnet on the worksharp holder is pretty strong. If it fit as snuggly as the factory plates, would be flawless. Regardless, buy with confidence. Works very well!

Best Manual Knife Sharpener Ever!!

I have a Gatko knife sharpener. And this was built on the same principle. But this is 100% better. It's mostly metal and has some heft to it. The knife clamp is top notch. And the way to flip it to do both sides is genius. And it has another holder for smaller knives and uses a strong magnet to hold it in place. Again this is well thought out. The design of the angle guides is the best of all. The only thing left is the diamond plates. It uses a magnet to hold the stone in place. All this together produces the sharpest edge I ever produced!!

Best knife sharpener I've ever used

This is the best knife sharpener I've ever used. I think it's the most consistent way to produce a sharp edge. The belt grinders are okay for cheap knives, but I've messed up enough of my knives on those to avoid them. I've corrected those knives on this system. I like how this system has additional stones and a digital angle indicator. The additional stones help to reprofile and make your knives super sharp. Once you've sharpened on here a few times and established the new edge, you can sharpen much faster in the future. I've never been able to get knives as sharp as I have on this system. I can't recommend this one enough.

Better than the original!

I purchased the original Precision Adjust Sharpener and loved it. When this one was introduced to the market I was happy to see all the additions made to the system. Well worth the upgrade. This unit can sharpen a variety of different knives (kitchen, hunting, pocket, etc.) and put an amazingly sharp edge on them. I recommend testing on a piece of paper and not running your finger over the edge to feel for sharpness.

Good but not like the video reviews

If you are purchasing this to "Tune up" your knives (and you have probably been viewing all the WS Pro Precision videos before spending over $250 on a knife sharpener), then this will get those knives razor sharp, regardless of size or shape... just like in the demo videos.If you are like me with a bunch of dull kitchen/pocket knives that needed to be re-beveled because you just cant get a new bevel using the diamond stone on the workbench, then this will work, but not as quickly and effortlessly as seen on the demo videos.The angle tool is great but with larger kitchen knives it is difficult to get the arm to "reach out" to the 17 to 20 degrees. Yes you will be getting some flex on the knife blade and no, the "heavy" base will not stay flat on your bench... you will have to hold it upright with your off hand. None of this is necessary if you are simply tuning up a somewhat dull knife.Personally, I think the jaws on the knife holding vice need to be about 2-3" wider for a more secure fit. The knife travels while being clamped down tightly and I was constantly straightening the knife to keep the spine perpendicular to the sharpening arm..The magnetic, "pocket knife" attachment s almost impossible to use if you are trying to re-bevel a pocket/paring knife. It can be done but you are fairly contorted trying to keep everything level while running the sharpening arm across the knife blade. I think the belted, powered Worksharp sharpeners are far better suited for sharpening your pocket/smaller knives because you have better control over your knife and the sharpening surface than what you get in the magnetized attachment that comes with the Worksharp pro.While it took me a lot longer than anticipated, I was able to get some beautifully sharp edges using all the grits/strop that came with this machine (I did have to put more polishing compound on the supplied strop several times.. but again, that's just me and my personal preferences for a smooth, shiny bevel).The only "add-ons" I've purchased to compliment my Work Sharp Professional is the Apache 3800 case from HF (See the reviews on Amazon for a pictorial), a magnetic base and some knife blade stabilizing supports (both from Etsy) to suit my purposes, which you may not want or need.

Prefessional results at home!

This unit is a real step up from the Precision Adjust. It's bigger, more stable, more rigid in every way, with a great stone interchange system. The digital angle meter also allows for good precision. I spent a little time getting to know the unit with some inexpensive knives. After a couple knoves, I felt like I had found the unit's groove and moved onto my expensive kitche knives... and got them very sharp. Not that although they advertise a minimum angle of 15 deg, I was able to get the angle down to 10 for my fine-edged knives. clearance was tight, but it worked. I am a realtive novice at sharpening and I wanted something that could give a near professional result. I think we have a winner.

Simply incredible

I have purchased several sharpening systems throughout many decades of owning knives and have never been impressed with the end results. I did have a Worksharp Ken Onion edition sharpener that worked pretty well but didn't like the changing of the sandpaper belts and not knowing if the belts needed replaced or not. As luck would have it. It broke after about 4 years and instead of contacting Worksharp to get it fixed, I looked at their website and there it was. I couldn't see me spending $299 on it but Sportsmans Guide sent me a quarterly catalog and there it was on the cover for $249. I was able to use my Sportsmans Guide Visa rewards to whittle that number down to $30. No brainer there. They required a lot of time at the starting 220 grit just to get past the nicks in the blades but once they were profiled, it was off to the races. This Professional grade sharpener will last me a lifetime. I have finally found the Holy Grail of knife sharpeners.

Unique and perfect edges!

I know how to sharpen on Stonecan shave some armHair just after an 1200grit stone without leatherbut this thing gives an Edge I did not know existI used to be chef and amateur knife makerwith that Sharpener you can feel way less resistance when cutting , like the knife just falls into itSure that amount of Money is very much and only for niche needs peopleIm still quite happy with my Purchase especially for 340CDN$ ( Sale )If you are looking for a mirror edge, you will need aftermarket solutionsLike Lapping Films or glue High grit sandpaper to your ceramic stonea 1200grit stone would complete that setBut no worries even on a 220grit stone you will have hair popping results, the Edge just wont look as shiny

Very versatile guided knife sharpener

Great easy to use sharpener. I have many from lanskey, to whet stones, to diamond plates. This has better angle adjustment than the cheaper lanskey, and actual abrasives sharpen high end steels much easier. This seems like a great entry point for the higher end angle guide sharpeners.

Worth the money. Does the job very well!

I have a half dozen other kinds of sharpeners and this is by far the best. I struggled with the other sharpeners to get a consistent, long-lasting edge on hard steel like Dozier's D2. My Dozier knife came from Dozier's shop with a bad edge that had a 20-degree angle on one side and a 25-degree angle on the other. The knife would dull before I finished skinning a single deer or antelope.The Work Sharp Pro Precision made it possible to dial in an exact 20-degree angle on both sides and the large diamond stones made quick work of fixing the edge. Well-worth the money.
