These batteries are the best that you can get. I had the PowerA Charging Stand at one point for my Series X and, while it was nice, it never did manage to charge the batteries inside to a full charge. These always charge completely every time. I love these batteries. I don’t love how the cord no longer has a little light on it to show when it’s done charging. That was an absolute design flaw on Microsoft’s end. Hence, four stars instead of five. Almost perfect, but not quite. It’s impossible to tell when the controller is finished charging with the XBox turned off.

Battery packs are a must have for any Xbox to save your wallet and not needing to swap out new batteries. There are multiple brands out there for battery packs but I prefer to use officially branded battery packs (just personal preference). The nice thing is that these do fit in the Xbox 1 controllers as well, you'll just have to use a micro USB cable for charging as the kit comes with a USB C cable. The USB C cable is only needed of you are using the kit with your Series X/S controllers. Holds a charge for a while if you're only playing a couple hours each day, Extended use you might have to charge it every day to 1.5 days.

When I first got a Xbox One when they came out, one of the first things I did was get a play and charge kit. The batteries would stop charging after 1-3 months. I had faith in Microsoft’s quality, so I kept replacing them for the span of one year. After going through so many play and charge kits, I was finally convinced that Microsoft Xbox as a brand was one of the worst when it came to quality. I told myself I would never buy a Microsoft branded Xbox battery or cable again. I began using third party batteries without issue. Fast forward to 2022, I began to regain hope. Since Xbox has came out with the Series X, they must have their stuff together now, right? No, they don’t. I purchased two play and charge kits for my son and I and it’s even worse than before. Right out of the box, the batteries do not charge. They were placed the correct way in the controller, and my Series X was brand new, so it wasn’t a controller or console issue. The charge icon comes on but the battery never charges. I’ve been keeping it plugged in for over a week and whenever I unplug the cable, the controller stays on for 1 minute and turns off due to no power. Save yourself the headache and get some rechargeable double As or an aftermarket kit.

If you're tired of batteries, then this is a pretty great alternative. What's best about Microsoft's controller battery packs is that you don't have to charge the battery pack separately. Just install it into your controller, plug in the USB C, and you're ready to go. Works so far on Microsoft Xbox series controllers, and it does hold a good charge. The cable it comes with is also pretty high quality, as expected. However, these battery packs do have a little competition when it comes to rechargeable batteries that can be swapped within less than a minute. It's more convenient, but less versatile. And at $25 just to convert your controller from battery dependent to charger dependent, it's a bit of a high sell.
I don't have an Xbox One, but I like using the controller on a lot of games on my PC due to how well it meshes with Windows. I've had the experience of battery management for the decade lifespan of my 360, and it is probably the main inconvenience that keeps me from playing it more often. This product has nullified the main peeve I've had with game pads and wireless peripherals. As for the concept, an additional $25 for rechargeability and a nice cord does seem a bit suspect in addition to the $50 controller it's for. However, since batteries are the things that degrade fastest in products such as these, I actually like being able to swap it out if I ever have a problem. I just popped it in and have basically forgotten about it. I have never given thought to charging this thing. The thing lasts for blood-clottingly long play sessions without a sweat. The cord it comes with is high quality feeling and long; and since when connected via usb-c the xbox one controller works PERFECTLY with the countless games I've tried so far, just popping it into any computer stupidly convenient. It just works perfectly. No fuss. Just a jump in quality of life and convenience you'll appreciate once you experience it.I genuinely think it is worth the price,
I got this from here because the one I got straight from Microsoft website quit working after about a year. It wouldn't charge anymore and just wouldn't read a charge. So, I saw it on this site, and ordered same thing. So far it works but it does this random turn off controller while playing. I just turn controller back on and it works but a little annoying while playing games. Hope it continues to work or I am going to just use cable and give up on these batteries altogether. I just do not understand why Microsoft can't make them last. I don't know if I want to try 3 times a charm deal.To me, the more problems, then there is something wrong with the products. So, I will give it a while before saying it is the right product. So, I will give it a while before saying it is the right product. Since, the first one lasted around a year, then I assume this will too. Not meant to last long. You would think Microsoft would make their products better for their other products. If this does quit, then maybe I will just buy wired controller without separate cable use. I will see. You determine if it is worth it.
Pretty good bargain, lasts about a year to three depending on the level of play a day you do.Be sure to plug the cable into a usb port that doesn’t go to sleep.Otherwise, it’ll not charge & the micro-draw the controller has will kill the battery over long downtimes when not in use.It also helps to have a controller that doesn’t have wear issues such as joystick drift or other signs of wear’n’tear.•This kit is intended for the newer microsoft Xbox controllers that have the usb-C port.& the cable is a usb-A to usb-C.
The XBOX One and Series X/S should’ve shipped with these but I’m happy that Microsoft gives the end user options. The battery life is amazing compared to my PS5 rechargeable controllers and if their lifespan ever diminishes, you can just buy the replacement batteries instead of buying a whole new controller. Pricing for the Play & Charge kit and controllers are also affordable compared to Sony or Nintendo products. I’m very happy with this option… also, works flawlessly on my PC compared to other controllers which you would have to either use the Steam overlay or a special app overlay to make it function in a bootleg manner.
I will never buy these again. Bought in march to go with my new controller. Been having disconnect issues for months thinking it was bluetooth issue but it's the battery. Now my controller won't even turn on even though the battery was charged overnight, however I put in the Power A battery and it connects right away. This is the second one of the microsoft batteries I have had issues with bought more then a year apart I had thought maybe just a bad battery. Not wasting another dime on one of these, issues from the start.
Play without limit. You can get and idea of the potential savings using the included AA battery when the controller is new. After you can use the rechargeable battery Microsoft original and the performance is awesome. I have been using this batteries for almost 10 years and the duration of the charge is great.Only one point which I like more in the previous controller with micro USB conector is the indicator white/orange for fully charged/charging. This feature is not available in the cable USB C, however it is a great purchase.
