I did not believe that these devices would really be that good, but given the price, I thought I would give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner has been a reliable and efficient device. I have it running around downstairs at my house nightly on quiet mode. It runs for about 90 mins to do all of it. We don't notice it upstairs so it does not disrupt our sleep. When I walk downstairs in the morning, the floor is spotless. All the dog hair gone, all the dust gone and the vacuum is back on the docking station, all charged up, ready for the next night. It cleans the carpets, tiles and rugs that are on the tiles. I was always hesitant to buy one(have trust issues). after reading reviews and good feedback, i mustered some courage and went ahead with sale without knowing that my life was going to be changed forever. It actually does a great job of vacuuming and I mean better than I would do it manually because of how precise and slowly it does it. It did my whole very small 1x1 apartment in 30mins which even if it took 4x longer I wouldn't care cause you can schedule it to clean up while you're not even home! So you don't have to even hear it, ever. Have only used it 4 times so far and am amazed by what it does. Use it on carpet and on tiled floor. Can creep under low furniture and pick up dust that would otherwise only get cleaned couple of times a year. Can only hope that it is reliable and gives us a few good years of use. Minor limitations: - need to be careful not to leave any wires or stray bits and pieces that can jam the brush - tries to clean between staircase balustrades. Full marks for trying but creates a lot of unnecessary bumping. Ended up placing a "virtual wall" - cannot set virtual wall in the phone app - occasionally stops with main brush error, but there is nothing jammed. Just pick it up, put it down and it's good to go.

Internet research pointed to the Xiaomi Mi. All I can say is they were right. I had to vacuum daily to keep up.I’d always found robot vacs to be out of reach because of the high cost.Now you can pick up a decent machine for less than the cost of a good regular vacuum.The xiaomi robot vac is fantastic it traverses small obstacles like edge of rugs and the lip onto the tiles of my bathroom.The robot easily picks up cat hair, kitty litter, crumbs and more with a single pass and the dust bin is large enough to clean my 2 rooms bathroom and hallway once maybe even twice.The robot accurately maps my apartment intellectually segmenting and efficiently cleaning every corner of the room. With 4 operating powers the vac can silently move about at lowest suction to moving about at the same noise of a regular vac at its highest suction.The robot has no issues slowing down and avoiding pets moving about the house.My cats hated the regular vacuum noise but love the robot, following the robot around fascinated.
I'm very impressed with this. It is a big step-up from my older LG RoboKing (the early round one with the upwards camera). The RoboKing was good for its time, but the Xiaomi shows how much the technology has improved. The RoboKing seems positively clumsy by-comparison! The only flaw is that it has issues detecting low/normal skirting boards because they are lower than the sensor. It doesn't hit them much but does gently bump its way along them (the pressure plate picks it up fairly quickly). It really should have a side sensor that detects that. The way it maps the room with the laser-scanner is incredible. It's amazing to watch on the app to see how the room is mapped. It also means that, due to the device having mapped each room, it can easily resume from where it left-off mid-clean if you had to stop it, and it also moves with precision directly back to the base-station when complete, with no clumsy sensor guess-work. It's very clever. The pressure-plate across the whole front of the unit make it handle collisions incredible well, with only a delicate press against any object, which is also great for gaps that aren't quite tall enough. It barely has to teach it, and with no force, to detect that it cannot procced further. Setup was quite simple once I downloaded the English instructions. They're far from a perfect translation, but good enough to get started. Once you have the app and device switched to English you don't need the manual really. The in-app videos about the device are craftily produced such that there is no need for language. It also seems to better-isolate hair that gets wrapped around the spinning brush, so that it only wraps at certain points below the guards, where it doesn't interfere with its operation, and making it easier to remove (with the included comb-blade if necessary). Apart from slight awkwardness of the device clearly being originally Chinese, and a wish for it to be integrated into IFTTT and other apps, I can't really fault it. I'm certainly very happy with my purchase. I've only used it for a day, so can't speak to its reliability, but I hope it lasts for some time as I really am very impressed with it.
