Purchased for a 46lb kayak for use with a Tuscon.The roof pads worked great and are easy to install and take on/off. The straps unfortunately did not work properly. They did not stay tight and would loosen with very little force. My package was also missing a strap so I only had one. The pads work fine if you buy better straps, but the ones that come with it are NOT safe!

These are light and really easy to install. Comes with two cam straps (one for each pad) that are very easy to use. I've transported a 31" wide kayak that weighs 67lbs and it holds on no problem. I would recommend picking up 2 more cam straps to tie down the bow and stern for added security and peace of mind.One thing to note - if you get a lot of rain, your interior will get wet as the straps will soak up the rain and it will eventually make it's way inside your vehicle. I'd suggest taking them off the car and storing inside if there's lots of rain in the forecast!

We got an email letting us know about this new product at the right time as we were in need of something better than using Yoga mats to transport a kayak. It seems really simple, like you could rig this up yourself...and it is..but we couldn't come up with anything like it. The price is ok...should probably be less based on the fact that you really get two foam things covered with the Yakima logo, a place to hook the strap, 2 straps, and the string/rope is kinda useless as it is too thick to go through the rings on my kayak. It does work VERY well though...SUPER easy to use, can be used on Any vehicle, doesn't take up space either! Directions were very easy for my husband to follow too. As for how durable it will be...time will tell! Perfect for my lightweight kayak. I bought the front and rear anchor hoods for extra secure travel. I love that I can remove it so easily when not in use. A fraction of the price of the hard racks that spoil the look of my sweet ride.

The only solution I could find to transport Ski's on my sons Crown Vic. Police Interceptor without drilling holes through the roof. Did the trick! Very easy to set up. Very surprised how hard it was to find this solution / product. Went to several large ski shops in the NY area, and all I was told, by Yakima resellers, that they had no rack solution for me????? Thank you Google, and Outdoorplay, for helping find the perfect solution for my son!
I've used this rack several times already, and I'm super happy with it! I use it to transport my 10ft Pelican kayak to the river, and I have not had any problems with it (I only use it on days when there is no rain in the forecast). By myself, it takes me only about 15 minutes to put the racks on my car and to strap in my kayak. Rating on this item depends on the car type. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu With a shark fin. The roof is very thin and this item caused the roof to dent. IF I didn’t have the shark fin, it may have been able to work further back on the roof where the frame is.
