Probably spent way too much time picking a surf rack and very happy went with the Sup Dawg. Mounted it to the Yakima Overhaul HD rack setup on a 2019 Silverado truck and takes about 2 minutes, really easy. Use it daily for two surfboards but easily have put 2 soft tops along with a glass longboard in a bag on it and still has room. Takes all over 30 sec to strap your boards and the wheel is a nice touch for rolling your boards up on the rack. The strap also has a cable running through it to prevent someone from quickly cutting it to get your boards.Picked this over the Thule setup mostly on aesthetics. The Thule seems to stick out way above your truck where you can practically leave the SupDawg on all the time, there’s little to noise from the wind since it is so ... MoreProbably spent way too much time picking a surf rack and very happy went with the Sup Dawg. What we love the most: 1) Integrated roller system is super handy after an extended paddle session. Pop a 3.5 inch edge onto the rollers and viola, you have roller assisted lift; 2) lockable security cable straps are piece of mind for your quiver when grabbing some grinds or drinks after a session. Pair it with a set of Topgrip paddle holders (for those local sessions) and a SlimShady and you have the ultimate setup for a day out on the water and post-sesh chill. Bravo on this Supdawg, Yakima, we'll have ours for years to come!

I naught this like 2 years ago I wanna say and it’s been amazing! I have a HUGE paddle board that I throw on top of a mini countryman haha, to say that this rack was amazing is an understatement. I’ve taken that same board on same said car, with this rack all the way to Maine, Canada, and Vermont, from Fairfield CT and there have been literally no issues at all. Only issue is that this jerk off that came to fix the plumbing in my house a couple months ago during the winter stole the rack right out of my basement so I have to buy a new one. Either way this is your best bet for a paddle/surf/ board.

Great Product, durable in high winds and long road trips.
16 April 2021

I've owned the SUPDAWG for 5 years now. I have used it without the tail and nose extra support tiedowns on a hard 11'9" paddleboard on top of a inflatable paddleboard. I like how easy it is to use, the storage space for the extra strap works great. I've had great luck hauling paddleboards long distances at high speeds. I've hauled my SUPs from Northern MN all the way to Yellowstone, WY, Glacier National Park, MT, and recently to the ocean at Hilton Head, South Carolina. I've done over 90mph on the freeways out west in headwinds and never had these straps come loose. I always checked them at every gas station stop without any issues found.

Great SUP rack
11 August 2020

I've had this SUP rack for about a month and it's really awesome. Love the ease of use. The straps feel well made. It's ready to go straight out of the box. This works with round or square bars, it has extra attachments for round bars so Yakima made this to fit virtually any roof rack setup. I have Thule roof racks so it fit just fine. I love the ability to lock the straps so if I need to make a quick trip inside a store with my board on top, it won't get stolen. I've previously owned the Thule SUP taxi and I prefer the Yakima SUPDawg over the Thule. The profile of the Thule SUP taxi is quite high, so if you have an SUV and you're using the Thule, you have to lift your board higher to get it in the rack, and I felt like I couldn't tighten the straps tight enough for ... MoreI've had this SUP rack for about a month and it's really awesome. And the locking mechanism isn't my favorite. I just wasn't a fan. Also didn't really like the look of the rack. The SUPDawg has a low, clean profile and even has rollers to help you load your board on to the rack. I have a small SUV (Volvo XC40) so loading my board is easy, and I appreciated the rollers.

High Pitch Whistle that never goes away.
3 January 2024

The whistling noise is unbearable. I tried different positions but can’t find a way to stop it. Doesn’t matter if you are going 15 or 75 it’s just a high pitch noise that never goes away. I bought these for the convenience and easy use since I couldn’t find the soft pads that are wide enough. Not a big fan of returning items that i took time to research but these are for sure going back. Only had them for 3 days. I have a R1S with stock cross bars. Not satisfied with this product.

Love this roof rack! Easy and secure
31 July 2024

I love this roof rack! It enabled me to safely and securely transport a paddleboard from Bennington Vermont, where I purchased it, to Boston on highways, on mountain roads, driving 10 over the speed limit. The board stayed secure the whole time. This is going to allow me to do exactly what I hoped it would do, which is take my paddleboard to any lake or pond that suits my fancy… And really expand my world. Also, I am often apprehensive about learning new physical systems, so I hoped this rack was not too complicated. It is not. It's super easy to use. If you need practice, there are great videos on YouTube but I promise if I can do it, you can do it. And for reference, I am a single woman who weighs about 110 pounds and I'm 5'2". I have a lightweight board and this ... MoreI love this roof rack! The SUP Dawg is sturdy, super easy to use, I really like it. It makes it easy for me to load and transport my inflatable SUP by myself, great for a retired/older but active gal!! We love how quickly the boards load and securely strap down. A bit expensive but I'm really glad I have it to use!!

Unbearable whistle on R1S
3 January 2024

I was very excited to purchase this product for the easy use and able to lock my boards when traveling. Unfortunately the hidden devil to this product is the unbearable whistle. Doesn’t matter if you go 15 or 75 it like having someone blowing a whistle is ear then entire drive. I have stock cross bars on my R1S and it’s not worth agony of my ears bleeding for convenience and save keeping.

Pros:1. The rack is super easy to install (once you figure out what the instructions are saying: more on that later)2. For a subaru outback, it just works out of the box: none of the additional adapters are necessary.3. The rack is super secure. I just took my 9-8" longboard to the beach in Florida driving about 65-70 on state highways for 2 hours. I'm used to boards flopping around on my old soft rack...no more! This thing was incredibly secure. When I got to the beach, the board was locked down tight. I would trust this on the interstate. (In fact, I did actually drive up I-95 on this trip for 20 minutes).4. It's so so so easy to put this rack on and off, and to put boards on and off.5. The instructions are garbage -- they're like the ikea cartoon kind with no words, but clearly written by a drunk person that assumes you can figure out what their random pictures mean. Since this is superficial though (once you figure it out, then the rack is amazing) I didn't ding on the stars for it.I just googled for installation videos, and some showed up that made it pretty easy to figure out.
