We were not able to use the door sense with our set up. The set up to get the app to calibrate the unit was not working and we had to contact customer service. They were able to get the lock calibrated and the app functioning properly at that point which was nice. But 3 messages to customer service after that to let them know I can not use the keypad alone to unlock the device without the use of my phone has left me with a bad taste in my mouth because they just give me generic responses basically telling me to put my code in and that's not working. I can not even put the code in because the numbers on the keypad just spin in circles after touching the yale button. So, in summary- if you get the app to work, you can lock and unlock from your phone provided you're using the wifi dongle or are close enough in Bluetooth range, the doorsense is useless with metal doors, and the keyless keypad alone doesn't work to unlock the door. I'd recommend getting a schlage, have had several with not nearly this amount of issues.

This assurance played a significant role in my decision to purchase the Assure Lock 2. However, despite Yale considering the Matter standard ready enough to release the Assure Lock SL with Matter compatibility in 2023, there has been no update or communication about when, or if, the Assure Lock 2 will receive Matter compatibility. In addition to this Yale's product page for the Assure Lock 2 no longer makes any mention of Matter support. While I find the lock to be well made, I am extremely disappointed by the lack of promised features. For a product that was supposed to be cutting edge and "one of the first Matter-compatible smart locks on the market" it feels stuck in the past and lacking key features that would make it truly useful. Yale’s inability to follow through on their promises raises concerns about their commitment customers and product integrity.Until Yale provides a definitive update or a resolution regarding Matter compatibility, I cannot recommend the Assure Lock 2 to anyone who values future-proofing their smart home technology.

Nice new features, bad execution.

[Rewarded Review] Discreet with a Multitude of Features

Smart locks seem to be becoming more and more prevalent and I feel like we are finally getting to the point where they are now becoming a must buy. This lock by Yale has finally been able to give us a nice discreet appearance with all of the smart features you could possibly need all packed into an app with an easy to use user interface.Firstly, right out of the box you can tell it is a quality product as it is not made of simply cheap plastic and has that premium feel. I love the look of this lock as it is extremely discreet compared to the multitude of other smart locks out there. I love the look of this lock as it is extremely discreet compared to the multitude of other smart locks out there. I think this is predominantly due to the key-free aspect of the lock as it eliminates the cylinder, which is preferred for me personally as it results in a more secure lock. The touchscreen works extremely well and the branding is nice and discreet. The ability to tap the logo on the lock to light up the screen is a nice feature to have at night as well. After getting it unboxed the installation was a breeze! I have installed a couple smart locks at this point and some are much easier than others and I will definitely say that this lock is definitely at the top of the list for ease of install. Then getting the app downloaded and connected to the lock was again just as easy. Again, the ease of setup always seems to be a major hurdle when it comes to smart devices to which I really feel like Yale has focused on this, both when it comes to the actual door hardware and software component within the app. After the quick setup I was finally able to play with the app some and discover all of the things that this lock allows you to do. The first thing I have to mention though is the user interface of the app as it is extremely straightforward and allows you to quickly get to what you are looking for. The features on this lock are all here including your basic key-free access which can be through the keypad, through the app (both on your phone or smartwatch), with voice assistant, and also through the auto-unlock feature which in my opinion is the most convenient and seamless as you don`t have to mess with the keypad or the app. Also within the app the ability to see if the lock is locked or unlocked is a feature that provides peace of mind both when at home and away. The final item I have to mention is the ability to setup temporary codes in the app as this is extremely helpful when you may be out of town or away because the app also provides a log that allows you to see when those temporary codes were used or you can even receive alerts as well.Overall, the discreet appearance of this lock along with the multitude of ways to unlock and lock the lock really set this smart lock apart from its competitors. The ability to provide temporary codes and see an activity feed of not only those temporary codes, but all activity is also a much appreciated feature. I don`t really know what else is left to be desired of a smart lock and for that reason I would not hesitate to recommend this smart lock!

[Rewarded Review] Great Wi-Fi enabled lock
22 September 2023

Coming from an older Yale lock model, this lock is been a major upgrade. I’m very happy that I chose this. First off the older lock model had a touchscreen, but was made of glass and was scratched up from repetitive use over the past 4 1/2 years. Additionally, the lock was not Wi-Fi and could not connect it to the HomeKit or an app if I wanted to unlock the door or check to see if the doors were locked. The Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi solves all of that. Removing the old Yale lock and putting this one in was very simple. Much easier than I thought it would be, and probably had a lot to do with the similar sizes that the locks require for the door. Connecting to the HomeKit was very simple after that as well. All in all, took about one hour.Using the lock for the past four weeks, I can say that the lock has performed very well. I have not had any issues using the lock or the app or connecting to the HomeKit. I I do like the keypad as well is that it’s not a glass surface that will get scratched, but more of a rubberized surface that looks more resistant. This has been a great product so far. I highly recommend it.

[Rewarded Review] Great lock for smart and non-smart home
8 November 2022

In my house, I have multiple smart devices connected. While that great, one thing I need to make sure is others in my house that don’t always have their phone on them can still use the items. I also don’t want to use a key, which is the other way many smart locks work. So this lock with the keypad and the ability to be on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, along with connecting to apple home kit and Alexa is an easy fit into my somewhat smart home. The installation is easy, just take out your deadbolt and put this in its place. If you’re getting a new door, there are also guides for that along with all the screws and plates you need but think most people will have a door already. The app also guides you though the process, and once done guides you how to setup the lock to connect to your phone and Wi-Fi.My only gripe with the process is that you need a module to use Wi-Fi. I don’t understand why this isn’t just built into the product. And why there would be a version of the lock that is only Bluetooth? You can use the lock without Wi-Fi, and you can even use it without connecting to your phone, but if you’re going to make a smart lock why not just build it in?After install and setup, using the lock is easy too. It looks great on the door and fits well. I like the physical number keys for the passcode although it’s a little odd if the door is unlocked and you press a button you get no feedback (I thought it was broken one time), but I guess it’s better then it locking again. The other thing to remember is that this is for the dead bolt only, so if you have a key on the handle, you’ll probably want to change that to a handle without a key, so you don’t lock yourself out. With the app installed, there are also some nice things like auto lock after a certain period (or certain time of day), plus you get reminders if you leave the door open with Door sense installed. I’ve used some other smart locks, and overall, this one seems to work the best.Overall, though there are some issues, I do highly recommend this lock to give you both physical and smart lock feathers and move away from keys.

[Rewarded Review] Happy with the Yale Assure 2 Bluetooth Smart Lock
7 June 2024

This is the first smart lock I've ever purchased, and overall I like it so far. It was easy to install, not much more difficult than a traditional deadbolt. Opted for the bluetooth-only option, because it shouldn't have hacking vulnerabilities that may come with Wifi-enabled devices. I also like that it doesn't have a physical key backup...if the battery dies you can just touch a 9V battery to the bottom so that you can enter your passcode, gain entry, and then replace the batteries. The black color matches our doorknobs/hardware. I like that it has auto-lock and un-lock features based on your phone location, although my one complaint is that these features don't seem to work seamlessly every single time.

[Rewarded Review] Poor connection through module

This lock has given me nothing but problems. First it has no indicator of battery level.I bought this model without any modules so it serves no purpose at all other than HomeKit.I have a Schlage WiFi model in the front door and it integrates with HomeKit and ring just fine , so I decided to get a WiFi module for this Yale. The module is about $100 and is worthless because it drains your battery very fast. I returned that and I got a ZWave module so I can add this lock to my ring system. It has been a nightmare ever since. I have spent $230 for the lock and the module and it is the worst lock ever. Sometimes it shows week signal for the ring and my base station is 10ft away. The battery level on ring is never accurate and it drains every month if the auto lock is ... MoreThis lock has given me nothing but problems. Sometimes it shows week signal for the ring and my base station is 10ft away. The battery level on ring is never accurate and it drains every month if the auto lock is very often. The Auto Unlock sometimes works and sometimes it fails. The door gets stuck on door sense mode and you don’t know if is locked or unlocked. So far I have lost the entry code 3 times in 6 months and the door won’t work unless you use the app from Yale or Ring. I have been forced to factory reset the lock 3 times so far and 2 days ago it got disconnected from ring and I can’t get it back on my alarm system. I won’t buy Yale anymore and I wil eventually replace it with another Schlage which it integrates directly from their app and not with modules that you have to stick in and out. Btw the door sense requires a big whole on you door jam so I got stuck with that. I should’ve done more research on this lock so I’m taking my losses. Good thing is that I have it on my garage door so I don’t feel very unsafe.
