A passive Zero Impact piezo pickup provides gig-ready flexibility with natural, dynamic plugged-in tone. Whether you play at home, on stage or wherever you are traveling the Csf1M gives you the ultimate parlor guitar experience. Includes an functional and durable hard bag. CSF Series Compact guitars have a reputation for sounding "weak," but the CSF series features a design that ends this preconception. With a rich, vibrant sound that transcends its size, the CSF series feels great to play and lacks nothing in comparison to many of its larger counterparts. Their compact form makes them easy to carry and allows them to be stored without taking up much space. Try taking a CSF series guitar with you the next time you head out, and see just how enjoyable playing in a natural setting can be. The CSF series utilizes newly-designed scalloped bracing that delivers rich, full-bodied resonance comparable to that of a full-size guitar. Additionally, the use of a forward-shifted construction maintains the strength of the body while maximizing the resonance of the guitar top.

A joy to play

I wanted a smaller guitar than my dreadnaughts but I wanted something that sounded great and played great. This guitar grabbed me the first time I strummed a G chord on it. Articulate notes. Easy on the finger joints and downright sexy. I played it in an unplugged segment of my show last Friday night and got several positive comments from other musicians. I've always upgraded nuts, saddles and bridge pins on stock guitars but I'm not touching anything on this one. I can't imagine it sounding any better. Bought it at Nashville Guitar Center.

A nice surprise

Mostly I work as a performing musician but I keep a few students, and I was helping one of them shop for a small-body acoustic guitar. I'd suggested she avoid inexpensive parlor guitars because they usually sound especially small and boxy. (Not *all* small guitars do.) She picked this up anyway while we were at a Guitar Center store and we were immediately impressed. It had a surprisingly sweet tone, more low end than I expected from a low end parlor guitar, it was easy to play and attractive and a little unique -- I love that asymmetrical bridge. Just remember that guitars are individual. They had two at this store and one was set up well, the other one was not -- of course that's fairly easily remedied by a competent tech.

Great sound for a parlor guitar

I was pleasantly surprised by this guitar. The sound is full and rich. It sounds larger than it is. The setup was good right out of the box and it plays very well. It came with a very nice gig bag. I have not tried the pickup yet. I've become a fan of Yamaha guitars. I also own a Yamaha Silent Guitar that I'm very happy with. This is a very goodvalue for money.

I agree with the other reviews, better than GS-Mini or DRJ

Was looking for a smaller bodied acoustic to keep out all the time that I can pick up a noodle on for 5-10 mins throughout the day / evening. After hours of research online, a couple of hours in the quiet room, was set on either of the venerable Taylor GS-Mini or Martin DRJ.To justify the cost of one of these two finalists, I took down a Recording King, Alvarez, Breedlove and Yamaha Parlor / Small Body options to compare, To my surprise, the Yamaha was the one for sound, feel play-ability, finish and fit.I never thought I would buy a Yamaha Guitar, but ironically my first guitar 30 years ago was a Yamaha (RBX bass). I don't always review guitars....
5 November 2019

Playing this guitar is so addicting. It's the most fun acoustic i've ever owned/played. The tone, build, and playability make it feel like a $1000+ guitar. I suffer from buyers remorse with most things, but with this guitar I've never felt more confident in a purchase. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's perfect? If you're on the fence, just buy it. You won't regret it. I bought the sunburst finish and it's gorgeous.

Impressed by Quality
29 May 2021

I'm a geezer who has been playing since the 70s. I wanted a small body "couch" guitar to grab when I get a song idea. I'm impressed with the playability and sound from this little guy. It has a very mid-range sound but it has more tonal depth than I was expecting. The body is deep enough to produce some low end to go with that sweet mid range. Great for recording when you need a mid range acoustic but no low end mud to eq away. Fit and finish are outstanding for a guitar at this price. I ordered the CSF1M in sunburst and it was set to play with straight neck and nice frets.

Just Okay
2 May 2022

I was disappointed in this guitar. Having owned many Yamaha acoustics over the past 25 years, I found the quality to be lacking. The tuners were cheap, the intonation was bad, and the sound was very boxy. Even at the £330 sale price, it felt like a toy guitar. I was looking for something smaller than my FG5 and LJ16 to use on a casual basis and travel about. This did not fit the bill.

Preferred over every Gibson in the shop
8 December 2021

I was on my way to the Texas State Fiddle Championship in Halletsville where I would be backing up my son's fiddle with the constantly moving bass-chunk swing chords that the tradition demands. I had wanted to get a decent J45 before we left Va but couldn't swing it, so to speak. So before the fest, I had a day in Houston to go to Guitar Center with a budget of $2500 and the pleasure of picking a nice guitar that was genuinely for my son's contest so my wife couldn't even complain! I played new J45s, J50s, and other J-family Gibsons but was unimpressed. I needed big, dry, chunk, expected Gibson would have my back, but the new models just left me hanging. A dry, middy, punchy arch top without the arch is what Texas music demands and, after wasting a bit more time ... MoreI was on my way to the Texas State Fiddle Championship in Halletsville where I would be backing up my son's fiddle with the constantly moving bass-chunk swing chords that the tradition demands. A dry, middy, punchy arch top without the arch is what Texas music demands and, after wasting a bit more time playing standard Martins and a few V-class Taylors, I was in a pickle. Nothing was working. There was a custom shop Martin that I liked for bluegrass but it was twice my budget and not right for Texas.Frustrated, I started playing instruments in the main section of the acoustic room with the laminate Asian guitars that I don't usually spend much time in. And that is where I found this little surprise. I wasn't looking for a parlor, and didn't give a darn if it plugged in or if it came with a nice case. But this did all of that in addition to costing a small fraction of what I intended to pay and being the only guitar in the shop to sound right. Sure, it was a Yamaha and no one looked at it in lust at the contest. And no, it is not my go-to for any genre that needs sustain and ring. But for an all around comfortable, great sounding, easily portable and playable guitar that cost less than a neck reset on some of my other guitars, this thing is unbeatable.I still haven't plugged it in so no thoughts on that. But I have taken it camping, to the beach, and on long car trips. A few years on now, the neck definitely is ready for a turn of the truss rod but that is normal. 5-star guitar.

Well made, fun to play, sounds good. I love it.

My ability to stretch my hand to finger chords is severely limited by dupuytren's contracture (google it for some depressing light reading). I hadn't owned an acoustic for five years as a result. I got the itch to own one again, and when I saw 23.5 inch scale, (excellent) gigbag included at this price, I went for it. And I'm glad I did. While the sound is not huge, it is good and the feel, fit and finish are outstanding. It has inspired me to play a lot more than I was playing, which was already over two hours a day. And that's really the best compliment that you can pay a guitar, isn't it?

Yes.

I've owned several acoustics and have gone through the GS minis and Martin travel. Just stop with those. The brand name can only take the instrument so far. If you're looking for a better made and sounding instrument, consider this Yamaha! This is by far one of the best guitars you can buy in the price range. The sound is full and sensitive. Plenty of low end and balance. The tuning is consistent throughout and stays true after several days. Haven't really used it plugged in much but appreciate the option when needed for live or studio. I'm so impressed and have been eyeing some of their L series.
