Incredible all round. Material choice and finishes are excellent. I am not an audiophile but the sound is incredible - I put on movies, music and video games and it all sounded crystal clear and immersive. Crystal clear voices and the bass booms. Best system I've ever had and setup was a breeze. I would rate this as a better value than the Sonos One system. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a sound bar surround system - best in class.

I have not personally owned a sound bar in the past, and what an incredible difference using this product vs the built in speakers on the tv! The sound quality is insane, we love the clear voice function, no more need for subtitles!! The bass makes every at home movie feel like an in theatre movie now. I highly recommend this product, can't compare it to others, but at a minimum it's significantly better than your built in speakers, trust me on that! I did receive this product for free in exchange for an honest review, and I honestly would pay for this sound bar at full price, it's that good!

If you're looking for a sys. that will give you a wow factor to your home entertainment, this one will certainly give you just that. Since setting up this Yamaha SR B40A in my living room, I'm putting the Bose 600 in a bedroom. Simply put, it's a Wow factor. I LOVE IT! FYI: "Make Sure" to install the correct model # for the app from Yamaha's site as this unit does not interchange w/ one another. After tweaking the sound adjustment I love it even more. Blue-tooth music sounds better in the game mode sound!

I purchased this soundbar with the optional surround speakers. I wanted a system to improve tv audio, which it certainly does. I also wanted a system to listen to music in spatial audio, with surround sound. It is installed in a smaller room, and the clarity is astounding. There is deep bass from the subwoofer without being muddy, and overall the sound is clean and spacious. One thing that is lacking is there are no equalizer controls for any part of the system. The surround speakers and the subwoofer have their own volume controls, but beyond that you get what Yamaha has determined what the EQ should be. Depending on the source of the music, it can either be great, or less than desired. Overall I am pleased with this purchase, it serves my needs.
I originally bought this sound bar for my main tv/living room to replace an older vizio 5.1ch setup. Easy to setup and install but quickly found that the sound experience was not the same as my older system. I had it connected to my arc input with my newer Hisense TV, using same high quality hdmi cable. Found the sound quality too low even with adjustments and not enough surround sound. I then setup the Yamaha in my basement and with an older tv and it sounds great. So am not sure why one room with an older tv sounds much better than in another room with a newer tv... Overall am happy with the sound quality not too many tuning options and the app is quite simplistic. For the money i didn't want it for a setup in a room that is hardly used but since i got it on sale ... MoreI originally bought this sound bar for my main tv/living room to replace an older vizio 5.1ch setup. Overall, I was impressed with the Yamaha SR-B40A and more than happy to have this soundbar in my setup. What I liked the most was how easy it was to connect the soundbar to my TV, its fairly compact design, and the inclusion of Bluetooth. (Lately, not all soundbars come with this feature, and sometimes you just want to play something from your phone in the background.) But the absolute standout for me was the spatial depth of the sound. There's no need to mount multiple speakers around the room to enjoy immersive, surround-like audio that enhances your favorite movies. It's simply amazing!Of course, there are a few downsides. For example, I missed having an equalizer to fine-tune the sound for my favorite music bands. For example, I missed having an equalizer to fine-tune the sound for my favorite music bands. What really disappointed me, though, was the oddly outdated implementation of the front indicators on the soundbar. They're not very intuitive at first glance (although I've started getting used to them after a few days). Nowadays, most people are used to more precise digital displays that show text or numbers (like volume levels on a digital scale), rather than simple LED lights that illuminate in different combinations to indicate the current mode. Sometimes, the mode isn't clearly shown at all, which can be frustrating. That said, this soundbar delivers on its main promise - immersive surround sound - at 99%, and everything else is just personal preferences.
For a change I decided to try this Yamaha Sound Bar. I previously used a Samsung SB but recently sold the house and left it for the new buyers. I've always had a dedicated theater room but use the SB's in some of the bedrooms. I use a Yamaha 5200 Preamp in my surround set-up so I thought I'd try Yamaha this go around. Nice product. Reasonably priced, great sound overall and set up super simple. I can't really say it sounds better or worse than the Samsung but seems to be more stable when using EARC. For info, the picture makes the sub look grayish but it's actually black. Of course it won't compare to an individual speaker set up but if you're looking for better sound than stock TV speakers I highly recommend it. A+.
Good overall. It's a big step up from Yamaha's good but cheaper soundbars. The Yamaha SR-B40A is a dual-channel soundbar - I've always avoided them because I wanted a center channel for dialog clarity. However, I don't miss the lack of a center channel on this one. Yamaha Clear Voice works for me and dialog is clear enough for me. Bass is adequate - I haven't used the Bass Extension button and usually turn the bass to about the middle for TV watching.Setup is as simple as these things get - connect the enclosed HDMI cable to the ARC/eARc port on your TV, and plug the soundbar and the subwoofer to electrical power and you're done. Your TV remote then controls the soundbar's sound. When using BlueTooth from my iPhone to listen to a music app I don't use the Bass ... MoreGood overall. Using BlueTooth to a medium-price soundbar isn't hi-fidelity by any means, but it suits me for casual listening.I particularly like the installed WiFi that automatically works without needing my home WiFi. Pretty good compromise for users who want better sound but really don't want to mess with the complications of a more expensive package or connecting to sometimes-iffy home WiFi .It comes with a remote that works well and an optional smartphone app. I particularly like that the Yamaha app asks specific permission to give the data to Google, separate from the function of the app. (I said "no.") The app helps to coordinate that everyth
I really appreciate the ease of setup for this soundbar - unpacking to working in maybe 5-10 minutes. The sound quality is amazing. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly due to the instructions, or rather lack there of. The HDMI setup did not work with my tv - no sound would come out. In all fairness, I do have an older flatscreen that is not a smart tv. I did go out and purchase the optical cable to use it that way, but there is no section of the instructions on how this works. I have to mute my tv to use the soundbar, otherwise there is an awful echo.It is also incredibly difficult to turn the sound bar off. It's great for movie night, but that level of sound is a bit much for everyday use.Overall, I am very happy with the sound bar.
The Yamaha true X bar 50A with subwoofer is a great audio system. The sound was very crisp and powerful sounding, compared to the TV speakers. Even when I was two rooms away, I could hear the sounds of the tv show very crisp, and with a powerful bass. The sub woofer also emitted a nice powerful drumming sound to really make the sound effects more clear. When the surround speakers were installed, the sounds went up another level as well. You really felt like you were at a theater with how powerful the sounds emitted were. I highly recommend this product for others to use.
