After a lot of research I decide to pair this to go with my new LG OLED TV. I needed something compact and without an external sub woofer to meet my wife's stringent requirements! Hugely impressed so far, sound adds a sense of presence to the viewing experience. There's a lovely balance to the sound and details are really emphasized. The clear voice setting is handy for when dialogue needs a bit more emphasis. Great price too for a compact bar with an impact belying it's size.

Pros: I previously owned a 5:1 home theatre system which required wires around the living room and small speakers distributed throughout. Inevitably one of the wires would come loose and it was a real pain to have to keep fixing the various speakers. Therefore, I decided to try a soundbar for the first time. Connection couldn't be simpler with the wire that came with the sound bar - one into the soundbar, one into the TV. Once the soundbar was turned on it worked immediately. The sound was crisp and clear and can be modulated via the remote control using volume, increased bass and a control for the subwoofer. There is also a CLEAR VOICE button which is especially useful for movies where background sound tends to drown dialogue. As I don't play games I can't comment on the latter but STANDARD is a great default which I haven't really had cause to change. The basic sound is surround sound though you have the option to change to stereo which I do when watching music programmes. As you can see from the photo the soundbar is small (my TV is 44") but the sound it packs is excellent. So far I am very pleased with my purchase.Cons: Nothing

I knew that Yamaha would be good, but this exceeded my expectations. Coupled with a sound processor this is the kind of sound I would expect to pay more for. I am using it for my PC having finally given up on my fifteen year old Philips speakers that had begun to hum and buzz quite loudly. It was a doddle to set up and has the Bluetooth bonus that I can stream from my phone when I don't need the PC on. Build quality is excellent right down to the tidy remote. After fifteen years I was able to enjoy bass again, it being sometime since I had a hifi setup. This fulfills that and the bass is surprisingly punchy and has room for more which is great as you don't need a seperate woofer. Vocals are also very clear and expressive. All in all I am very happy with this soundbar.

I bought this Yamaha soundbar a few weeks ago, having done a fair bit of online research. I was looking for a soundbar that wasn’t too obtrusive, partly due to aesthetics and partly because the feet on my 49” Sony Android TV angle outwards so a longer bar would need to be placed much further forward (ie in front of the feet rather than between them. From the reviews I read, at approx 60cm wide, it was a straight choice between the Yamaha at £179 or the new Sonos beam at £449 and as I don’t want to stream music through this, I couldn’t justify an additional £270.Anyway, after a simple set-up using a spare HDMI cable and the ARC port on my TV, I noticed the difference immediately. I tried it out with Cloverfield on the various settings and was very impressed. This is not like being in the cinema but is a huge step up from the inbuilt TV speakers and the sound now feels part of the immersive experience rather than just something ’there’, especially when cranking up the subwoofer a little. It definitely adds a lot more to watching TV.I only use the standard or movie settings as I don’t play games or listen to music through this. With the ARC connection I can use the Yamaha remote, my Sony or Sky remotes or the excellent Yamaha app I downloaded. All in all, this is a great piece of kit for the money and as ever, the service from Richer Sounds (Telesales in this case) was first rate.
I've never bought a Yamaha product before this soundbar, it's the first. I've a Bose Soundbar & Ponasonic Soundbar with subwoofer. I'm impressed with the Yamaha soundbar overall. It rates equally with the Bose soundbar at a fraction of the price for the quality of sound it produces. Bass is light but that's to be expected because of no seperated subwoofer. I'd certainly recommend this soundbar for overall clarity in sound it's excellent. If you want real bang for your bucks for bass you have to buy a soundbar with a separated subwoofer. The Yamaha soundbar is still in my opinion still worth considering I'm extremely impressed & happy with my purchase of it from the Good Guys at a great price!
Pros: Received my sound bar. Upon unpacking the sound bar I was pleasantly surprised how good it looks. Connecting it up to the TV etc was fairly easy and straight forward. The sound is really great, better than I expected. I know a sub woofer base box would give a more powerful sound. But I wanted something smaller and for it's size I was really impressed with the sound and vocals it has. At very high volume it does distort a bit, but personally I won't be listening to anything at that higher volume. The vocals sounds are brilliant, so clear and crisp. So far I am very happy with this speaker and would definitely recommend speaker this to anyone.Cons: Just at a higher volume it does distort slightly, but that's at the very high volume which I probably wouldn't be ... MorePros: Received my sound bar. Pros: I have never owned a Soundbar before purchasing the SR-C20A, although I have owned some very high quality speakers, so I'm in a fairly good position to compare.Set Up & Basic FunctionsThe setup process of this all-in-one soundbar was straightforward. I tested multiple connections including Bluetooth, Optical and HDMI. I found Bluetooth had a slight delay, which is fine for music but not TV. The Optical connection was simple, but while it worked perfectly on my TV,The Optical connection worked well for having the soundbar "Always On", however for ease-of-use, I wanted sound to still come from the TV, and only to use the soundbar when I turn it on. The HDMI connection was perfect for this.SoundThe sound difference between the soundbar and the TV is incredible ... MorePros: I have never owned a Soundbar before purchasing the SR-C20A, although I have owned some very high quality speakers, so I'm in a fairly good position to compare.Set Up & Basic FunctionsThe setup process of this all-in-one soundbar was straightforward. The bass levels are impressive and movies are a joy to watch.Remote & Yamaha AppIt comes with a handy remote with simple functions, and sound presets for Stereo, Standard, Game and Movie which seem to be calibrated well. You can also control the subwoofer and volume. Sometimes it has been hard to tell when settings such as "Clear Voices" or the sound presets have been activated, as you only get LED feedback from the soundbar, which is why I’ve actually used the Yamaha App mainly as a remote to tweak settings. As a Standalone Speaker with Google HomeAfter a simple Bluetooth connection process, I have been using the soundbar as a dedicated speaker for music through my Google Home Hub. Music sound quality is good, some may say great, however my similarly priced speaker from another brand does have a better sound quality overall, so I will be keeping both for different uses.ConclusionOverall, the Yamaha SRC20A is an excellent purchase at this price point. It is ideal for those looking for something compact, yet powerful. If you have never used a soundbar before, this will revolutionise your TV watching experience, and immerse you into your chosen content.
I did a lot of research before buying this soundbar, and many reviews linger on the fact that this Yamaha is built for small rooms, bedrooms anddesktops. And while this may be true, simply putting this outstanding soundbar into that budget desktop category is a complete disservice to how brilliant it really is.As a film critic, I've been wanting a home cinema set up for a while. I cannot afford true surround sound like a Sonos beam or alternative, or even a large soundbar over 90cm, but I needed something that has a little oomph, I wanted a taste of the cinema experience at home. You will get that with this soundbar.I have yet to turn the volume past the halfway mark, and even at 25/50 the sound is pretty exceptional. You will get that with this soundbar.I have yet to turn the volume past the halfway mark, and even at 25/50 the sound is pretty exceptional. For reference I also have the sub woofer at 3/5, which is more than adequate and better than reviews had led me to believe. It doesn't shake walls, but you definitely feel the rumble and weight of the right film. And that last point is really where I think a lot of misconceptions about soundbars and this soundbar in particular comes from. There's just so much variation in sound quality from platform to platform, streaming to disc. As a general rule, a blu ray disc will usually sound incredible on this soundbar.Streaming is still impressive, but there are variations. For instance, Netflix is louder than Amazon Prime, and even then it depends on the show or film in question. I have streamed The Witcher and A Quiet Place 2 recently. On the film front, it needed pumping up a little on Amazon, but once done I was incredibly pleased with how it sounded, especially since the whole film relies on silence and bangs. Put it this way, I didn't miss not catching it at the cinema. The Witcher fared better at less volume, and this time there was a sense of surround sound, I was hearing sounds on the wall to my right, which was a delightful suprise really. The only other occasion I gained a sense of full surround sound was interestingly with the animation Klaus on Netflix, which gave both width and height, and I was hearing the buzz of digital insects behind my head.Other films tested when the soundbar arrived were The Force Awakens and Tenet on blu ray (Tenet still sounded muffled on a dialogue front, even with clear voice -- a feature that is otherwise excellent on everything I've watched, I never turn it off -- but the soundtrack really flies at you on the Yamaha, I was impressed and slightly fearful of upsetting neighbours). The Force Awakens, in my opinion, was overhwelming in the best sense, having come from TV speakers. If you meet the latter, this soundbar is only going to impress. The remote control is okay, but outmatched in every aspect by the amazing phone app which makes controlling the soundbar so easy. I only use the app, it's so much clearer to fiddle with settings there. Bluetooth set up was breeze. YouTube sounds surprisingly great if you get lucky with the file quality. For this, I put on Mad About You by Hooverphonics. I couldn't believe how good it sounded over Bluetooth.I have also had no issues whatsoever with sound and image synch. But the real treat of this soundbar is the ability to turn off its display lights when watching something. I cannot tell you how much this makes me happy. The soundbar blends into the room, I never notice it. And not having the display lit up is never a problem because you can just see what's going on in the app.I would recommend this soundbar to absolutely anybody. My living room is small to medium. My Tele is 43 inches. As of yet, nothing I've watched has made me wish I was hearing it at the cinema. That's the true measure of how good this Yamaha sounds. It's warm, rich and full.
Pros: So there’s a few reasons why I narrowed down my search for the perfect soundbar down to the Yamaha SR-C20A. Sound quality was obviously the most important factor, but also size, functionality, connection options (BT, Aux, HDMI) and of course ease of use are in there too. Firstly the sound quality. Well I’ve been absolutely blown away by what this little fella can do. It has a lovely warm and rich tone which makes not only watching TV, movies and games a joy to listen to but also listening to music is a pleasure too. Clear and accurate sound with lots of user controls so you can tweak the sound to your liking! Clear and accurate sound with lots of user controls so you can tweak the sound to your liking! There’s a ton of sound options (all controllable for the remote and also a dedicated smartphone app which is super cool) and my fave is enhancing the dialogue when watching TV (which is great if you find the talking from some of those US dramas/movies a little hard to make out!) and makes the speech so much more intelligible (you may not need subtitles again!). That is one of the main reasons to buy a sounder to be honest, to get GREAT sound out of a TV and boy does this improve ANY TV’s built-in speakers! There’s also really surprising bass control and the internal subwoofer does a brilliant job of enhancing the sound in movies and games, I was (again) very surprised how such a compact sounder can do this, some crazy magic in there! That brings me to the next factor and that’s the size. It’s compact enough to fit under any TV even those as small as 32” so no longer do you need a sounder that’s wider than your room, or so tall it obscures the bottom part of your TV. Oh and I also tried it out in front of my gaming monitor in the office, and it performed REALLY well (it also has a dedicated gaming mode) and although I mostly use headphones for PC gaming, the Yamaha C20A would be a great choice if you wanted decent sound on your desk, in a small form factor. Not only does it have an Aux input (a simple cable from your phone/computer etc) but on top of all that it has bluetooth so you can even use it as a Bluetooth speaker ! It’s super easy to plug in and use, and even has a USB port to update it whenever Yamaha make any further improvements. This soundbar is pretty much perfect! Compact, decent value, lots of options and functions and most importantly really GREAT (and surprising) sound. As a previous owner of other bigger, more expensive and well-known brands of soundbar, this Yamaha C20A is my new absolute favourite! Just go buy one!Cons: Shift HDMI socket a little to allow more space around it.
Pros: Upgraded from a JBL Bar 2.0 which had really good bass, but poor clarity especially with speech. This solves that problem with a clear speech setting & has a very good rounded-out sound. The bass is clean but not overpowering, with the mids & highs being just right. The volume is great too, I have it between 25-30 out of 50 & that’s more than enough. Installation is quick & easy, plus using the app to control the bar is so easy & much better than using a remote. It just works. Everything is accessible & making adjustments is simple. You can make adjustments so that you get the sound you want. Have tried with different types of content inc. standard TV, sports, movies, gaming & they all sound great. Only have positive things to say about this excellent ... MorePros: Upgraded from a JBL Bar 2.0 which had really good bass, but poor clarity especially with speech.
