Great Concept, but overlook design flaw

I own A LOT of Yeti products and am always happy with them. I really want to like this product, but I've owned it a few weeks now (i bought 2!!) and always have issues trying to twist it off of the bottles. I have 26, 36 & 64oz bottles. I also own a bunch of chug caps, which are tight to remove, as well, but at least the outside rims of the chug caps are made of rubber, so you have something to grip. This Magdock cap is all plastic, so it is virtually impossible to get a grip to twist it off. the solution that I came up with is to put on disposable medical gloves, which are kind of tacky, to give me a good grip to get them off. Sorry Yeti :(

I love, love this lid! It's really easy to drink from and liquid doesn't spill out around my mouth. I personally found it was easy to to screw on/off and was pleased since I have grip issues. Why the 4 stars? I'd have given it 5 stars except for the gasket. It STINKS. It has an extraordinarily strong chemical odor. I've washed the gasket and lid several times, but the odor still lingers! It legit interferes with my enjoyment of the beverage. Luckily the odor doesn't transfer to the part you drink from and affect the flavor of the beverage

I love the cap and the magnet. It's WONDERFUL to not lose the cap in the car. The issue that I have with it is that when I tighten the top, it also tightens down the portion that connects to my Rambler, which results in not being able to remove the lid so I can put ice it it. It's happened a number of times to me and I've been successful at removing it (eventually) but this last time... The lid is STUCK. I've tried about everything and I'm wondering if I'll have to throw my bottle away? It's Nordic Purple, so I really don't want to but this is ridiculous. I'll update my review if someone can help me get this figured out!

Great product but flawed
19 July 2022

This is an awesome product that alot of people either 5* or 1 * it online but heres why this is flawed. Using this product you replace the handle with this one and tighten it down. The flaw comes from the over torquing that prevents you from removing the base. No one that i saw understood why it gets stuck but that its a pain to remove. The over torquing is due to the smaller cap. Twisting the cap closed after each use applies more and more pressure to the base. I love mine but im more careful now. If you cant remove use two rubber oven mitts one for the base and one for the rambler.

Love this cap, the only one I use
22 April 2023

I have been using the magnetic chug cap for several years and absolutely love it. I loved it so much I had to buy another one for my other yeti bottle. I love that you never have to worry about what to do with the cap especially out on the hiking trail. I take the gasket out after every use, which is daily because I take it to school everyday. I wash the lid and the gasket in the dishwasher with my bottle. I wash it by hand when I don't have time for the dishwasher and I let everything air dry before I put them back together. I have never had an issue with foul smells.

One Year Everyday Use Review

I bought a magdock cap a year ago and I have not had a single issue anyone has reported. My magnet holds the cap firmly. The magnet will also pick up random magnetic items I’m not careful with. I have had no smell issues but this is a standard problem in the rubber and plastic manufacturing process. Just replace it if you ever find this issue with any rubber or plastic. Put ice in if you want something to stay cold for a day+. Warm up yeti by filling it up first with very hot water if you want to keep something warm for half a day. Mine has never leaked if closed properly with the gasket ring properly placed. I have messed up a couple times after cleaning. The top comes off with elbow grease when you use the magnet as a grip. I wash mine once a week and take off the gaskets and clean them also. If you get smell issues soak everything overnight in hot water with a denture cleaning tablet per every 8 ounces of hot water.

One of best caps I've had on a bottle
1 October 2021

I bought this approximately 3 months ago and won't go back to a normal cap until winter hiking season arrives. I love the magnetic aspect of this, as the cap is always in one spot and be easily placed there for extended periods of time when driving, sitting, etc. Another aspect I like about the magnet is there are no pieces to break, and therefore think it is more environmentally friendly as you don't need to buy replacements. Easy to drink out of while walking, although I don't regularly do this due to the overall weight of the bottle.Several reviews mention the following things; this is my experience with those things:Bad magnet - this is absolute rubbish; the magnet is extremely strong and doesn't come off even when I fidget with it (much to the chagrin of my ... MoreI bought this approximately 3 months ago and won't go back to a normal cap until winter hiking season arrives. If you have small hands and rely on the loop, you may struggle with this. That being said I almost exclusively carry my bottle in a bag, so it doesn't matter to me if there isn't a handle.Ice melts quicker - I agree with this, but if you fill your bottle with ice water, the ice still lasts 24 hours, so I don't really understand the sentiment of this problem.Bottle leaks - never had this problem; screw the cap on tight.Lid is hard to take off - this I agree with, but that only happens when I screw the lid on really tight. Again, if you use the lip of the magnet to twist the cap, it's a nonissue for me, but I have big hands.I highly recommend this cap. It's totally worth it for $12

Stinky rubber gasket
12 October 2022

I bought this a month ago and I was super excited about having the easy drinking cap that was magnetic. The second day using I started realizing that something smelled on the product. Found out it was a little rubber gasket just on the inside of the removal cap. I tried rinsing this thing thoroughly soap water other products. The smell never went away. I have since removed the rubber gasket and continue to use the yeti product although it has a leak if I tilt it sideways now that the gasket has been removed. I tried calling your support and it was such a pain I gave up. I was just hoping they may have a replacement gasket that doesn’t smell like recycled rubber.

Strong chemical smell
23 March 2023

I was really excited about this lid with the magnetic cap but the gasket has a horribly strong smell and makes the water taste bad. Feel a little scared about the chemicals I ingested from it if the smell is that potent. Tried soaking it in vinegar and even let it off-gas outside in the sun and it only seemed to have angered the smell. Removing the gasket is not a great solution as the cap then leaks. A problematic product is understandable but continuing to sell this product after all the bad reviews targeting this exact issue is very frustrating.

Works...
27 August 2022

I love the magnetic cap... And the idea enough that I bought another. The reason, though, I had to buy another is the inside of the area around and above the gasket became pitted and the plastic around the gasket disintegrated enough that it separated/broke off the bottom. So, on the new one I purchased I noted it said on the package not to be used with hot drinks which confused me... I thought Yeti's main goal was to keep drinks hot or cold for hours. But, looking on the description here it says nothing about hot drinks, only don't use with carbonated drinks. Anyway, I like the lid so I bought another and will continue to use it with my morning coffee.
