Yeti Roadie 15 Hard Cooler - Tan

Yeah I know it's $200.00. But, dang right it's $200.00, and worth every penny! I work as a locomotive engineer and in the summer some of those engines don't have AC. So when the heat index puts it over 100 everyday. That big moving metal sweat box is about 20° hotter. But, guess whats cold? My insulin because im also a type 1 diabetic. Oh and my lunch. So, yeah I'd buy this again and again and again. Yeti just keep doing what your doing. In addition it make a decent seat while I'm wait for a cab to pick me up so, I can get back to my home terminal. And then eventually get home.I got the small dry goods basket to go with it and it fits perfectly. It keeps me organizing. The only problem I've had is the strap has came off once. Or, even two not very heavy drinkers going to the beach you can fit a decent amount of cans in it. And, best yet once again it's a Yeti. From the ground I know I can toss it up to the locomotive and not have to worry about it breaking.

But after six hours, I found ~half the ice had called it quits. Sure, this is a smaller, day-trip cooler, and even though the ice melted faster than my willpower at my child’s school fun fair, the drinks did stay icy cold (Caveat: I did pop the lid a few times). At this price, though, I kind of expected the cooler to keep its chill a bit longer. Is this the reality of a smaller cooler or should Iexpect more from Yeti?Now for my hard cooler basket hack; is the basket super handy? Absolutely! Worth the ransom Yeti wants for it? Only if you’re into being spooned by a Yeti in your sleep. Instead, here’s the workaround: grab yourself a Rubbermaid ‘Brilliance’ Food Storage Container, Medium Rectangle (plastic, not glass). A quick trim on both ends with a mini hacksaw, and it fits like a charm—with or without the tupperware lid! The best part? You just saved yourself enough cash for a six-pack and a sub…that will stay dry!Overall, the Roadie 15 is a good performer, but don’t expect miracles—and definitely don’t expect me to shell out for Yeti’s daylight robbery accessories. Yeti, if you’re reading this, you can do better—and you know it. To conclude, I give this cooler a solid 3 star, but a limp 4.

We are a full on yeti family. Between the few dozen rambler and tumblers, a hard used tundra 45, and a roadie 24, I’ve been looking into a hopper flip for quite sometime. The zippers always deterred my purchase though. As a flooring installer I needed something that could withstand the abuse of a jobsite. Then the Roadie 15 came along and it fit all our needs. The latches are great for one handed operation, the size is enough for a small day trip or to throw behind the seat of the truck, the handle makes for easy carrying, the ice retention is right on par with what I expect out of a YETI. The overall build quality is what i notice the most is not up to par. While it’s still high quality it seems more rushed to be made. The drain plug is useless. The tundra drain plugs are wonderful, but this one doesn’t get all the water out due to the design on the drain. You therefore have to tip it nearly on its side to get the water out of the drain. Somewhat negating the point of the plug when you can just flip the whole cooler upside down and get it out faster. But in terms of overall quality and design I am pleased with it after weeks of everyday use. It fits in perfectly into our lineup of YETI coolers where the others where just too big.
