Bowed lids

I purchase two 160's for my large cataraft many years ago. One very early on had an issue with the lid bowing when in direct sunlight. Yeti was great and sent me another one...Great costumer service. But later on the other stared doing it too and now both lid bow and actually do it enough to lose the seal. This most have been a bad batch of plastic or something. I have another Yeti 50 and it is fine. The coolers work great but this small issue has made me rethink the longevity and quality control. Also....it isnt 160 quarts INSIDE. It is when measured from the outside though!

We had to transport a large amount of frozen breast milk from Corpus Christi, Tx to Jax Fl and the 160QT Tundra did not disappoint. Not one, not a single ounce of our child’s food spoiled. This cooler is not cheap at all. But this famous line my father always says “you get what you pay for” is 100% right. If I was to just put one thing out there just a smidge bit negative….. I just wish it came in other colors.. Rant over. Overall this is a phenomenal cooler and everyone should have one

Everything is as expected! A 100% quality piece of gear that will last a lifetime. Super pumped that it just fits in the back seat of my car (I had my doubts). It fits even better on the back of the boat! Perfect size for chonky Lake Trout, Kings, and Atlantics!

Great cooler
24 July 2022

We used this for our camping trip to the UP. Ice refills were reduced. Love the divided storage. I bought an extra fry basket, but was somewhat annoying having 2 because I had to move it to get in there. It also reduces space in what you can stack up. Overall, we are very happy we eliminated 3 coolers for this one.

Perfect for warm season deer hunting!
19 September 2017

I bought this cooler 2 years ago. I've used it for early season archery deer hunting with great success. This is my 3rd season using it for deer. I just got a buck Saturday afternoon and packed the quartered deer on ice. When I got home and finished processing the deer 24 hours later, 80% of the ice was still intact and the deer was so cold it hurt my hands to hold the meat. I'm sure most of the ice loss was from first couple hours getting the very warm meat cooled down. It was 75 degrees and humid, so I had to take the meat right from the deer and onto the ice with no cool down prior to hitting the ice.I've also used this cooler for long weekends with relatives at the cabin. Ice stays good for days while keeping our beverages very cold!

Swiss Army knife of Coolers!
12 November 2022

I’ve had this cooler for a couple years now and it has done more than just keep my food cold camping. I’ve used this as a temporary refrigerator for two weeks while waiting for a fridge on backorder. My city has a main waterline break that left us without water for six days. I was able to store over 35 gallons of water for washing dishes, flushing toilets, and showers for my pregnant wife and I. And currently we use it as a changing table for our new born baby. It’s the perfect height, ample storage, and when my boy pees on it I’m able to wipe it clean easier than a Swiffer commercial! This cooler has been a lifesaver and will get you out of a bind even when you don’t expect it!

What a Great Cooler!
11 September 2019

I have always wanted a Yeti cooler because of the great reputation of being rough & tough with incredible insulation. Well the story is True! This cooler is incredible. Five of us went on a 10 day camping excursion. I packed the cooler the night before with everything we needed. Used two 4 lbs & a 2 lb Yeti Ice on the bottom with 50 lbs of ice. This ice stayed frozen for days. For the first couple days we actually had to chip out cans of soda because they were frozen in place. Didn’t have to put in more ice until 9 days in and there was still some ice left on the bottom. Love this cooler. Only issue was the coolers weight, but mobility was easily solved with some aftermarket wheels.

YETI Tundra 160 - Very Versatile Cooler/Ice Chest
27 August 2015

After years of dissatisfaction with other lower quality ice chests I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase a YETI. The top three failure areas I think we all can agree on with lower quality coolers/ice chests are #1 The drain plug, #2 The locking mechanism, #3 The lid hinge, pretty much in that order. Of the top quality coolers/ice chests I was impressed most by the YETI drain plug construction. Once I received my Tundra 160 I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did it have one well constructed drain plug, but TWO well constructed drain plugs, one on either end! I'm very happy about this. I like how quiet and secure the T-Rex Lid Latches are and how easy it was for me to reverse them to streamline the coolers profile. I'm very happy about this. I like how quiet and secure the T-Rex Lid Latches are and how easy it was for me to reverse them to streamline the coolers profile. If there ever comes a time that I would need to change out the lid latches I feel that task will be unbelievably simple. The lid hinge, built like a tank!!! The final deciding factor that sealed the deal were the dividers. At the time of this review the Tundra 160 is the largest cooler/ice chest with the long and short dividers available. EXCELLENT feature!!! Divide the cooler/ice chest in half side to side with the short divider or the 40/60 (approximately) division front to back respectively with the long divider. The features and sound construction of this cooler/ice chest far exceeded any cooler/ice chest I've ever owned!!! I should not have waited this long to purchase my YETI cooler/ice chest!!!! (I would like to add a note for those planning on mounting the YETI bottle opener on the inside of the lid. Be mindful to mount the opener in such a way that it will clear both the wire basket and the long divider.)

Yeti Spotted In Nor-Cal
13 July 2016

I received the Yeti 160 as a gift from my wife after the birth of our son. The first time I used the cooler was for a 6 day camping trip in the Sierra Nevada and the cooler far exceeded my expectations. On the trip to our destination the cooler was in direct sunlight on a 105 degree day in an uncovered trailer for over 4 hours. The remainder of the trip we were at a campground at around 4000 ft. where the day time highs were in the 90's and the overnight lows were in the 60's. To make a long story short after 12 days I still had 6 or 7 half melted 10lbs blocks of ice left. How I packed my cooler was as follows. A week before my trip I purchased 80 lbs of loose ice and 8-10lb blocks and stored them in my chest freezer @ 20 below zero. A week before my trip I purchased 80 lbs of loose ice and 8-10lb blocks and stored them in my chest freezer @ 20 below zero. Also at the same time I pre-chilled beer, sodas, water and froze any meat that was going as well. I left my Yeti in the house for a few days in the air conditioning to ensure it was at room temperature and not overheated from the 100+ degree temperatures outside. Then two days before I had to pack the coolers I placed 40 lbs of ice in the cooler to pre-chill it. I then disposed of that ice when I packed the cooler. I packed the cooler by placing 4-4lb Yeti Ice and 2-1lb Yeti ice at the bottom and I put 10 lbs of dry ice in the spaces. Then I put 6 or 7 (I can't remember) 10lb blocks of ice on top of the Yeti Ice. Then added all of the pre-chilled food and frozen meat. After that I filled in all the gaps with around 40 lbs of loose ice. The ice took up alot of space but the cooler is so big it didn't matter. We had food and drinks for 6 people for 6 days. (Yeti 75 was full of beer also) As the days went by the non Yeti coolers ran out of ice and we starting moving items from those coolers into my 160. I had the cooler in the shade the whole time under my pop up and was opened and used a lot each day. After we returned from our trip the cooler was left in the 120 + degree garage for another 6 days full of drinks and ice. When I emptied the cooler on day 12 there was still plenty of ice, cold water and frosty drinks.

I bought my unit a month ago and on Wednesday, 10/12, took it out of its cardboard box. I struggled to put it into the back of my car, succeded, and careened off for a seventy mile trip on back roads through Vermont's awesome foliage to pick up half a cow, which fortunately was cut, packaged, labled, and frozen. All but four boxes of meat fit inside the YETI 160 and nothing unfroze on the ensuing 70 mile ride, including the four exposed boxes. Most of the meat fit inside my freezer but what did not, I repacked into the Yeti, shut the cover, and went to bed. Around noon today, in a barn where another freezer was available, I unpacked the remainder of the still frozen shipment. Fourteen hundred miles, mostly in the sun. Last year, we arrived there in 3 days with coolers full of bloody beef. If we get there this year with still frozen packages, the Yeti's makers will be entitled to full bragging rights. JQ

It can't fit one person's beer rationing for a private Grand Canyon trip, but it can fit an elk, multiple deer, or larger offshore species. The Yeti Tundra 160 Cooler is designed for those who spend more time in the backcountry than the backyard. Rotomolded construction makes this cooler nearly indestructible. Freezer-quality gasket circles the length of the lid to block out the heat and lock in the cold. Extra-thick wall design holds up to two inches of pressure-injected commercial-grade polyurethane foam for unmatched ice retention. Heavy-duty rubber latches are made with patented technology for a bust-proof design. Two carry options: integrated handles on the lip or polyester rope handles with textured rubber grips. Full-length, molded-in, self-stopping hinge won't hyperextend or break. Features non-slip, non-marking feet, molded tie-down slots for easy mounting and includes one dry goods basket. Leakproof until you're ready to re-up or clean-up, the rugged Vortex Drain System is designed for quick and easy draining. With a 2:1 ice-to-can ratio, the Tundra 160 holds 115 cans. All Tundra series coolers are certified bear-resistant.
