An especially fast wide-angle lens, the Canon EF-mount YN 35mm f/1.4 from Yongnuo pairs the comfortably wide field of view with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture to suit working in difficult lighting conditions. The optical design incorporates two aspherical elements, which reduce spherical aberrations and distortion, and two low dispersion elements, which minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing, and individual elements also feature a multi-layer coating to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. A DC motor affords quick and accurate autofocus performance and a switch lets you quickly change from AF and MF focusing methods. Additionally, a micro-USB port is integrated in the lens design to permit installing firmware updates.

So far, this has been a great lens. I'm using it with my Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4K digital film camera (shooting mostly video) and the results are really good. Very happy. Nice look without the super high pricing that you see with other lens companies. Not sure how they do it - but the images are looking great!

Not sure about copy variation but mine is razor sharp even wide open. On my original 5D, my 6D, and M6 it is amazingly consistent at all times and the bokeh is so very creamy smooth. Colors are phenomenal too with almost no CA in the highlights wide open. I'm floored by this thing for the price. It's a bit on the heavy side but I think that's kind of a given for any 35mm f/1.4

Took the lens out of the box and was impressed by build quality. I then attached the lens with the Canon 6D and the images that I candidly snapped are amazing. This will be the wedding /event go to lens for sure. Also this price is one that will be hard to match initially that was my first draw to the product.

I'm going to try to make this short and straight to the point for those who are considering to add this lens to their collection. I'm going to break it down to 3 topics: Sharpness, Focus, and Who is this Lens forSharpness: With the aperture at f1.4, you won't get the sharpest image out there. Bumping it up between f1.8-f2.8, the sharpness comes back and image is a lot more crisp. Does that mean you shouldn't shoot at f1.4? No, however, if you are a photographer who prints their work I would definitely not recommend shooting at the widest aperture, or probably this lens. The lack of IS (image stabilization) will tell you otherwise.Focus: By all means, this is not the fastest auto focusing lens out there. When focusing you'll hear a whining sound from the lens. Is it annoying? Yes and No, yes because if you are use to shooting with lenses that don't make a lot of noise, you'll definitely notice this one. No, it's not annoying because as a portrait photographer, I'm too focused on my shoot that the noise from the camera is the last thing that is on my mind.Who is this Lens for?: If you couldn't tell from the title. The keyword is budget. If you are just starting photography (Hobbyist) or trying to expand your lens collection without breaking the bank. This is the lens you want to get. Considering it is under $400, has auto focus, and a wide aperture of f1.4, you can't really argue (except the lack of IS if that is important to you). If you are a serious photographer or have a few hundred dollars to spare, then I'll recommend going for the other brands like Canon, Sigma, or Tamron.Closing: I'm a portrait photographer and though I wish it would give more sharpness. It is good enough for me, as I am not a serious photographer, I don't do prints, and I shoot models for my Instagram. I was happy with my purchase. I have attached some photos to show what this lens can offer with portraits. Note that all 3 photos were shot at f1.4 with a Canon 5D Mark II and only natural light.
