It is much more pleasant to have something interesting in the collection. As soon as you take the perfume in your hands, it feels like you are putting some kind of elixir on yourself. Immediately after application, the fragrance may seem a bit harsh, although pleasant. This is normal, many flavors do not open immediately. When I applied this perfume for the first time, after an hour and a half it subsided slightly, became more calm, but at the same moment it did not lose its bold zest and I liked it. The sharpness is gone, but a viscous caramel sweetness with coffee and other notes that complement the composition remains. I feel this aroma slightly sweet, a little coffee, but the sweetness is not vanilla and not banal, it is just pleasant, not suffocating, at the same time there is a note of nobility, something expensive, bold, making it clear that this is not an ordinary sweet aroma, it's special, you can also feel a slight note of pepper. But not repulsive and rude, but interesting and alluring. I want to breathe it in and enjoy it. But as I already wrote, you need to give a little time for the aroma to open and become calmer. If you try to describe it in one sentence - a warm fragrance with viscous sweetness and successful subsequent notes that add to their originality, which is why the perfume does not seem just sweet and coffeey, but feels very interesting. ☆•● DURABILITY FOR WHOM ●•☆ ► The aroma is quite persistent. In the morning the next day, it can still be felt quite a bit, it feels a little longer on clothes. That's a very good hold, in my opinion.

Few years ago, I became the biggest fan of the YSL brand. I love discovering new fragrances by this brand. What I love about this particular one is that it has a strong fragrance but in an elegant and sensual way. It's a combination of coffee, vanilla, and white flowers. I can’t smell the vanilla???

I am so confused by this scent. If it wasn’t clearly labeled I would think they sent the wrong one based on the reviews. I ordered a sample because other reviews described it as a sweet and vanilla amber gourmand scent, with negative reviews calling it too sweet, which tends not to bother me, but I don’t get vanilla from it at all. Is there something wrong with me? All I get is a strong perfume scent of slightly sweet musk, licorice, and patchouli that stings my nose at first it’s so intense, but the intensity fades pretty quickly. I want to like it because it allegedly has all of my favorite notes in it. All of the other reviewers say they smell these notes clearly, and that vanilla is the primary scent, but perhaps some of the less sweet notes are tough to detect. ... MoreI am so confused by this scent. Long-lasting!

I had tested YSL Black Opium in store a few times, but was never a fan and didn’t understand why there was so much hype over it. It wasn’t until I actually tried wearing the perfume on myself that I realized how amazing it smells! A little goes a long way, I only need 1 to 2 sprays. Throughout the day I will randomly get a whiff of the fragrance and remember I’m wearing it. It’s very long-lasting! I could still smell a hint of it on my clothing after it had been through the wash. The scent feels soft and refined, yet subtly sweet - which is what I think is so intriguing about this perfume. I don’t love vanillas—or maybe I should say vanillas don’t love me, because 90% of the time they smell very off-putting and artificial on me. I do not reach for gourmands, ever. Tom Ford’s Black Orchid may be a bad influence as far as vanilla goes; it’s my absolute favorite nighttime scent even though it has some whispers of vanilla. TFBO always gets me compliments, and feels comfortable to wear, perhaps because it’s got some complexity and is well-blended. Though similar in name, Black Opium lacks all the sexy, va-va-boom I was hoping for. It is INCREDIBLY sweet, first of all, it’s a sucker punch of pungent, saccharine vanilla. I understand fragrances are subjective, and perfumes smell different on different people! I’m sure someone else could wear this, walk by me, and it would smell lovely on them and I would have absolutely no idea it’s Black Opium. However, on me, this smells like vanilla garbage—it’s like imitation vanilla extract. The actual experience of wearing it feels like the migraine you get after having too many espresso martinis made with bottom shelf vanilla vodka. I absolutely hate this perfume on me, and I would not recommend it to anyone except people who love vanilla gourmand scents.
