I've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. My cat was so stressed out with the cone because it significantly impaired visibility and didn't allow use of her whiskers. She was constantly stressed and trying to hide in the darkest, tiniest, craziest spaces, and would get stuck with the cone and unable to get out or move. Poor kitty. :-( She has a history of being bullied by other animals she lived with before we rescued her, and while she is usually very comfortable in our home, she was so scared and stressed from being unable to assess her surroundings and move around freely. Before we knew about the collar we tried a soft cone (didn't help) and two kinds of bandages (didn't stop her from picking at the ... MoreI've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. Then we found ProCollar (the 2nd one we bought is called ZenCollar but it looks/functions the same) and it was such a lifesaver! Once we put this on her, she became almost instantly more relaxed and back to the sweet and loving cat we knew. I am so thankful somebody thought of this idea and made it!!! The idea of my poor cat being stressed out for two weeks (while probably in pain and not feeling good during recovery) made me so sad. I have not had any issues with leaks as others had, but if I did, I would just go buy more, it is that great of a product. My cat had sutures in two places (from two different procedures a year apart) - on her front leg and near her butt - and she wasn't able to reach either place with the ProCollar. THANK YOU FOR MAKING AND CARRYING THIS GREAT PRODUCT!!!

After my dog's surgery, he was fitted with a plastic Elizabethan cone, which he hated. He would constantly walk into things, get stuck on objects around the house, he needed help eating and drinking, and it even hindered him when doing his business. When we called to him, he didn't know which direction we were coming from, and he would just walk around confused trying to find us. After a day of wearing the collar, he would just sit on the floor with his head hung low, looking completely depressed and defeated. I was willing to try anything, so I went to Petco and picked up the inflatable donut (the specific one I have is called "Zen Collar" but that one isn't listed on the website). He could sniff things, he could eat and drink normally, he didn't get stuck on anything, and he could just go about being a normal dog again. One thing I will mention is that the collar does slowly leak air, so I have to blow it up every couple of days, but it's really not a big deal. There is a zipper on the collar, so I could stuff it with something instead of filling it with air. Overall though, for what this has given my dog (and me), the air leak doesn't bother me at all. I would definitely recommend this to any dog recovering from surgery.

I inflated it with a normal amount of air. Put it in the canvas sleeve and put it on the pup. Easy to use. Within 24 hours, the inner tube had lost its air and there had been no contact with the pups nails or teeth. Upon further inspection, the seam wasnt great and air was escaping slowly. Luckily I had an XXL that I Originally purchased at a store that was too large for her. So I pulled the XXL Inner Tube Out and put it into the XL canvas sleeve. All in all - I like the product - just had a faulty inner tube seam and I didnt want to return it because I wanted the XL sleeve.

I have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. So I purchased this to keep her from licking her incision site as she was able to get out of her ecollar and chew it up. What I liked about this pro collar is that her view wasn't obstructed and that she wasn't running in to my walls, furniture etc. she also seemed to be more comfortable in it.What is unfortunate is that she was still able to reach her incision site to lick if she really tried. I can really see this product working on a larger dog that has longer distance between their mouth and site of incision as not only would I need a larger pro collar and the dog would have to really bend farther to reach the incision. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where ... MoreI have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where incisions are on limbs and such.So for instance, if my long 80 pound lab needed to have surgery on his belly or torso area I would purchase this again because he will have a longer distance to reach than my tiny flexible puppy. Hope this helps!
My 100-pound, 2.5-year-old Cane Corso had surgery to repair a cranial cruciate ligament (that's an injury to the stifle or knee). He has a roughly 6" incision on his hind leg. I found this collar in the store and thought it was a great idea, particularly because the dog really hated the plastic E-collar provided by the vet. Now on day 3, I'm calling it a fail. The stitching tore out on two of the loops that retain a conventional dog collar to secure the collar to the dog's neck. I re-sewed those with heavy-duty materials, but the design is flawed to begin with irrespective of the manufacturing quality. The only way to inflate the valve on the X-large collar is with an air compressor. Otherwise you may pass out. It's about like blowing up a trailer tire.Bottom ... MoreMy 100-pound, 2.5-year-old Cane Corso had surgery to repair a cranial cruciate ligament (that's an injury to the stifle or knee). Otherwise you may pass out. It's about like blowing up a trailer tire.Bottom line, the dog can get at his incision while wearing this collar, which is the whole point of the product. I very much wanted it to work. For a collar of this type to work as intended on a large, flexible dog, the collar would probably have to be three feet in diameter. That would make it impossible for the dog to get through doors or into a crate.I don't know what the solution is, but this is sadly not it.
Was really excited when my research led to this product! Read through various reviews so was somewhat skeptical; but, decided to buy it anyway since I wanted to avoid the plastic cone if at all possible. Our puppy was neutered and gave the collar to the vet to put on before he came home. It made an inquisitive impression on the doctors and staff, as well as other clients in the waiting room. After 48 hours of use, I'm pleased with how well it serves its purpose. While it deters him from licking/biting, he is still able to get at the area somewhat/little bit, but not enough to cause injury. Now that he's more alert and active, he mouths the front of the cone, chewing on it - so far it's help up; but he does have a gentle bite. One of the biggest positives is how 'normal' his activity can be with this cone. He's not banging into or getting stuck on anything, can still 'kennel up', eats and drinks with ease, still plays with his toys; and he does not appear sad/depressed with this cone as opposed to previous experience with the plastic one. Very pleased I purchased this product - well worth the last minute 45 minute drive each way to get it!:)
I have this collar. I used it last year when one of my girls had a lump removed from her chest. It was so much more comfortable for her to sleep in that a cone. She was able to see, eat, drink and do pretty much anything while wearing it. I just pulled it out again because my other girl had a cancer lump removed from her armpit area. I have Dachshunds so no cone stops them from licking if they have an injury lower than their midsection. But this worked wonders for both when the injury was on the chest and waist area. Some tips..1. It does require a collar to be attached to the inside loops to keep it securely on your dog. You can't just Velcro it on their neck or your dog will probably find a way to take it off pretty quickly. My dog was spayed on Friday. By Sunday, watching her in the extra large cone of shame was barbaric. I couldn't go to work Monday knowing she'd be in that all day, went to Petco to get this collar even though the majority of the reviews said it wouldn't stay inflated or their dog managed to chew it up. Maybe I got lucky? Today is Tuesday and it has not deflated in the least. She wasn't a happy camper but way better than the alternative and she is better now. She wears it at night, has it off for maybe an hour in the morning while I get ready, it goes back on and I take it off when I get home until I go to bed. It really has been a huge help with her and my conscience while at work. She couldn't even lay down with the cone, with the collar, she can get to water and ... MoreMy dog was spayed on Friday. If I find any pinholes like others have mentioned, i do have Gorilla Tape to slap on it. I do recommend it on my behalf. My dog is a Husky/German Shepherd mix at 65 pounds and I got the extra large. Your dog's collar that you thread inside the inflatable collar keeps it on your dog.
Bogey is a 95 lb Great Pyr mix. The X-large fit on his collar, but, 2 problems. One - not a deal breaker, when the clamshell box was opened, the fabric covering the inflatable part smelled. Very much like insecticide. When I blew up the inflatable part, my lips/skin in contact tingled a bit. I also had to deflate several times since inflatable part had not been pushed to one end and it couldn't be adjusted when inflated. I wasn't thrilled but figured the smell would dissipate over time and it was clearly acceptable to the dog. He didn't panic, he could lie down and this collar gave him the visibility and lack of sharp edges so he didn't bang into unlike the plastic cone I got from the vet. He was not slowed in the slightest at getting the hamburger when placed an inch from the rash. I'll try something else. I did want this to work.
My puppy is a 1 year 7 month Yorkie. He ways 5.8 pounds, and is a little wild child. He got injured on his back left paw, and had surgery. Has to stay off, and not pick at it. My doctor didn't recommend the inflatable collar because they can get to their paws, but I decided to try it anyways.Instead of getting the recommended "small" size for my dog, I got Medium.
