I have to feed one of my 2 cats this product, as she has vet diagnosed IBS and their advice to manage it during her last hospitalisation was to ensure she did not consume any of the foods known to aggravate her IBS (which are chicken, grains, fish, pork, possibly lamb... basically everything that in most commercially available pet food?!) and put her on a "unique protein" diet. Initially I fed her the Venison Ziwi, as per the vet's suggestion, but over time due to the cost (Venison slightly pricier than Beef Ziwi) and my observation of my cat's tastes and reactions to the foods, I've switched her to Ziwi. Yes, it's expensive. No, it's probably not value for money compared to how much you get for what you pay. But it's a lot cheaper than regular vet hospitalisations ... But it's a lot cheaper than regular vet hospitalisations for an ongoing gastro-intestinal and allergy issue! My fussy farting cat loves this food, both dry and dampen with some warm water. IF she is kept well away from her little brother's food (significantly cheaper and thus full of all the things she's allergic to, like chicken and grains!) then her health is much, much better. It's worth it in the long run.

We were previously feeding our cat Orijen Slim and Trim (an excellent food) with the addition of pumpkin and Fish oils for her coat. Her coat is beautiful, but she has slowly put on weight (she is 4), started sneezing and breathing heavier while sleeping. We made the switch as directed to Ziwi Beef Recipe - sticking to one flavour only to eliminate allergens - and what adifference! She is not begging for food anymore because her portions satisfy her. We give her 1/4 of a can of the wet Beef recipe in the AM for variety and reduce the dry to 1 scoop a day, and no more sneezing, heavy breathing or white flakes from her coat when I groom her (every AM). This is without the Fish oils! No Litter box issues - in fact, has reduced the size of her "deposits". All of this ... After needing a restricted diet and trying multiple other brands this is the first cat food that my cat willingly consumes. She pesters us for it. She loves it. Only issue we found is due to it's dry consistency it has caused a few toileting issues.

Our cat loves Ziwi wet food chicken and we thought to switch her dry food to Ziwi, too. Bad idea! As soon as we started feeding this food our cat started to suffer from constipation, pain while pooping and her litter covered in blood. Had to put her on hypoallergenic veterinary food for 4 weeks and feed psyllium husk for weeks to get her back on track. Be very careful. The ingredients might be of great quality but it's RAW food pressed into very hard kibbles. Too much for some cat used to "processed" dry food.
I think this good smells great; just like roast lamb! However, my little girl ( who has had a baptism of fire into it due to mother's disorganisation🥴) is still getting used to the texture, I think. She happily sniffs, but is slow to eat. I think, once she is able to take it slowly because she has her usual food to eat, she'll start to really enjoy. No tummy upsets up to now, so I'm impressed, with all things considered...
My cat suffers from confirmed severe food allergies (plus atopy) to various proteins and ingredients including poultry and fish. The cat even reacts with itchiness and/or swelling to hydrolized hypoallergenic foods, almost all of which are based on poultry. With some "mainstream brand" HA foods we also had problems like urethral sand and clogging. I researched for good quality single-protein cat foods and I stepped on Ziwipeak. We have tried all their single-protein flavors, all of them looks like great quality products. They smell and fee like proper food, especially the wet varieties look like actual clean minced meat. My cat has had best luck with the Beef protein, her allergies are kept under control with it and she has shown no otherhealth issues. I've been ... Intense ocean smell, a result of the green mussels? The quality appears acceptable. The expiration date is more than adequate. My kid does not enjoy ocean food, so I'm not surprised ze's disdained attitude towards this food. The mussel intensity was unexpected, it is as if it was the main ingredient. Every time the bag is opened the smell assaults my senses. Given the difficulty of finding red meats for felines, and the price point, I thought this would be a nice delicacy for my little one. Plenty of little ones outside who will find it a joy, I'm sure.
I have tried all the Ziwi dry food flavours and my now 11 month old kitty now likes this one the best. He still wants my housemates cat's dry food - Royal canin - and she wants his, so we mix a little up for them both. It is just so much healthier than the over-marketed Royal Canin.
My cat is still getting used to it, But he's getting closer to eating it without a little of his old food. We only started using it a few days ago. This is the one a vet suggested as it doesn't have the carbs etc in it. It's just real protein and necessary vitamins etc. Hopefully this will help where his diabetes is concerned. It's just good quality food. No junk involved.
Waste of money for me unfortunately - at least served as is. My cats were unable to eat it. They tried for for a bit but gave up. I wanted to use as treat food, with a few pieces, didn't work, and also tried in a pile that also didn't work. It think that for some cats, because the pieces are so small and flat they struggle to get them into their mouths, and they aren't really for crunching as just so hard. I plan to try soaking them to see if i can make a meal out of them that the cats will eat. My cats like to enjoy their food, not just gulp down without using their teeth, so unless I can alter texture, it's not for them or other cats like this.
