I feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel's rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. She is 17 and likes/tolerates very few commercial or homemade foods. This she eats fairly well, though she does prefer the broth and shredded meat Tiki formulas to pates. I like her to eat ZiwiPeak as well because of the higher levels of organ meats, something lacking in most of the Tiki formulas except their "After Dark" line.Ziwi's ingredient lists are sometimes inconsistent, on some agar agar is listed and sometimes chick peas. Other lists don't have either. My current case doesn't list taurine among the ingredients, possibly an oversight in the printing, not vital for a dog, and my cats don't get it as an exclusive diet ... MoreI feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel's rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. All in all the brand seems very high quality and unlike Tiki relies on food ingredients more than supplements. Premium ingredients naturally at a premium price. Worth it in my opinion.Update- According to the manufacturer there is more than enough naturally occurring taurine in the food due to the high meat and organ content. This makes sense and explains why it is not listed as a supplement. Most cat foods require supplemental taurine due to borderline (or virtual lack of) meat/organ ingredients.

After hearing about Ziwi Peak, I finally decided to have my cat give it a try. He loved the Venison Recipe. I did not like the larger bone pieces, even though this recipe has them ground down (other recipes do not so do your research.) My cat did gain weight on this food, so I will have to have him work on losing weight now. This food has lasted me quite a while and so it’s definitely worth the money. It does dry out after opening but I just add water to it, which is no big deal because water is excellent for cats (and everyone). The reason I’m giving this 4 stars is as follows. First is because of the bone pieces. I have had to pick out the larger ones even though they’re supposed to be ground down. There’s also some hard pieces (maybe cartilage?) that I’ve had to ... MoreAfter hearing about Ziwi Peak, I finally decided to have my cat give it a try. He loved the Venison Recipe. As well, my cat has gotten fat on this food so it’s just not a good fit for him with the amount I’d have to give him for him not to gain weight (not much) due to the calorie count of the can size (6.5oz). Overall, good ingredients and the cans are BPA free or BPA-NI. If the food were less nutrient dense and had no bone, I’d rate it 5/5.

This is a really great purchase because of its chunky-loaf texture that my cat loves. It's grain-free and low carb, perfect for my cat's dietary needs. Moreover, it's a limited ingredient diet, with real meat for high protein. This cat food delivers peak nutrition, exactly what I want for my furry friend. Plus, the ethical and sustainable ingredients make me feel good about what I'm serving. Highly recommended!

Giving the venison a try. My Sunshine has a food allergy we are thinking. Have tried many brands of wet food including vet prescriptions. She is on steroid shots which help the itching/biting which was causing sores all around her face neck and ears. she was on the prescription D/D venison and didn't like it so I was concerned about this wet food but to my surprise when I opened her first can today she ate a lot then went back while later and finished the rest. I'm so grateful. I hope it works.
My 1-year-old kittens didn't gobble this down like I was hoping they would. It seemed a bit dry like it needed more gravy. I'm not sure if I just got a bad can or if that is how the food usually is. They did eat some of it but left a lot on the plate. Usually they'll go back and nibble here and there but with this they didn't so I ended up throwing a lot of it away. This is their first time eating venison. I'll try it again with them and see if the next can has more moisture in it and if they'll eat more. It's too expensive to be thrown out.
I have a senior cat who has had seizures for several years. We have been able to manage his seizures holistically with CBD oil and Chinese herbs until recently when seizures increased to multiple times a day. First thing my vet recommended was to add a prescription seizure medication and put my cat on a diet of venison and/or beef, so I ordered Ziwi Peak. My cat is eating this food better than anything he has ever been offered. Extremely pleased with his appetite enthusiasm AND his seizures have decreased significantly.
So, the quality and sustainability of this food is excellent. My kitten, Ocho, has a GAZILLION food allergies and LAWD it was a nightmare to find something he could eat that wouldn’t turn his borthole into a portal to release the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Barf, Farts, Crustybum, and Poo!! This food not only solved the problem, but he seems to like it.The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is because the pate is very dense and dry. I had to add some hot water to break it down into a softer pate that Ocho liked, because he was -not- diggin’ it straight from the can. Coupled with some Natural Balance venison kibble, the softer pate was much more to his liking!
The reasons that I like this cat food are many. Its moisture-rich nature makes it easy for my cat to eat. The single-protein, grain-free recipe ensures that my feline friend gets the nutrition she needs without the fillers she doesn't. I love that it's ethically and sustainably sourced, putting my conscience at ease. The inclusion of superfoods is the cherry on top! It's a fantastic choice for any cat parent.
A friend recommended this and reviews were decent. 4 male cats and 0 takers. I only opened 1 can (they are rather large) and gave everyone a small spoon to start. No one tried it. I put some on my finger to see if i could get a taster and 1 took a lick and then quickly backed away with a look of betrayal. I thought maybe if they were a little hungrier they would give it a chance so i removed their 'grazing crunchies' and tried dinner time and again, nothing. They went on a hunger strike anytime i offered this can. I have the whole case minus 1 can-I wish there was a program to get a sample pack of a few different cans/flavors of food since cats are well, you know, cats. Combined these 2 items alone were over $100 *insert wince here*
The food is great and my cat loves it. He has a sensitive stomach and this causes no problems. It can be a bit firm after refrigeration but a teaspoon of warm water will soften it .However I have had numerous tins arrive dented on one occasion danaged with the contents creating a foul mess in the box. This could easily be rectified with more careful packing and some paper to stop tins rolling around. They always arrive disheveled.Petstock could up their game with better product packing.
