The unit is great and does its job... partially...If you have steps, angles steps, small steps and corner steps Don't get this unit. IT will climb the rise on the step almost make it up and flip sideways where it then gets stuck. If I could upload a video I would show you. Corner angle steps. Just gets stuck. This unit works on a spin pattern method. It will go for X amount of time and then spin several times. After that it proceeds in that one direction and then spins again. If it is not placed correctly in the pool it will cover the same ground over and over again.

I owned a Zodiac Baracuda MX8 Elite that had broken down after a few years. I looked to get it repaired and that was going to take a bit of time and money. I decided to try this Baracuda MX6 and I must say, I am extremely satisfied. I did upgrade it with the "Elite" model cyclonic scrubbing kit. It works GREAT! The main difference between the MX8 and MX6 is that the MX8 has 2 scrubbers, while the MX6 has 1 scrubber, so it takes longer to cover the same area. I like the "handle" that the MX6 has built in, it makes it easier and less chance of damage to the unit when taking it out of the pool. It appears that most all of the replacement parts are the same. If you have a very large pool, you might consider something else. I don't know what could possibly beat the "value" for it's cost with the quality of result that it provides.

This is a fantastic suction side pool cleaner. I am very satisfied with the quality and efficacy of the product. Goes up the vertical wall of the pool, covers the entire pool randomly, keeps all of the small debris out. I havent had any issues with having to unclog the cleaner. This is a great product.

Item was delivered next day! The Zodiac MX6 was easy to assemble and get going (took me and my 7yo grandson about 15 minutes). We have a 14x36 in-ground concrete pool that is about 9.5' deep. The skimmer is located near the deep end, but the MX6 seemed to have plenty of hose to reach all areas in the shallow end. We watched it for a few minutes and kept checking on it every half hour or so. It never got hung up or stuck on anything. It cleaned the pool in superb fashion. I'm extremely happy with this....especially since Walmart was about $60 cheaper than Amazon!
On receiving the cleaner inputnitnin the pool and it kept stopping and jamming. I ended up taking the cleaner apart to found that one of the bearings was not inserted correctly on the engine part and was causing the cleaner to stop. I fixed it as I am knowledgeable with the MX6 and MX8. Working good now. Apart from that the cleaner is as shown.
I have a pebble tec pool. That in itself creates wear and tear on any pool cleaner. The MX8 Elite worked well for the first year. I had to replace the tracks after 6 months. It wasn't until year 2 that the gears broke down. Tune up kit around $200. I've used it for 4 years now, and it has to be replaced. The housing wore down so much that the low volume suction isn't enough to turn the track. I would have replaced it with a new one, if I could find one for a decent price. Over $700 is outrageous!
This MX6 cleaner is replacing a ten years old Hayward - Pool Vac XL. I had a little higher expectation based on the design and videos on youtube. I think the cleaner itself is well made and it "walks" the bottom of the pool well, but the hoses are flimsy and the cleaner does not work with normal hoses that are not made by the same brand. I have to order an adapter to work with my existing well-built Hayward hoses, but just found out that the normal hoses would flip the cleaner in the water without having a weight attached to the hose near the cleaner. I guess it is probably due to the extra weight of the normal heavier built Hayward hoses. Overall, I still recommend this cleaner IF one does not mind replacing the hoses (that come with the cleaner) periodically.

DRAWBACKS: It gets stuck at steps often and is all over the place with no set pattern. The MX6 Climbs wall nicely to water line, but then it continues to run halfway out the water which suck airs and doesn't do your pump any good from cavitating. No idea why but the MX6 also favors the deep end of the pool no matter how many times you drag it back up to the shallow end. HOSES: They are HORRIBLE!! A year later they start to split at the connection or in the middle, sucking air and causing the pump to cavitate. Zodiac claims its from the chlorine. Final recommendation: You get what you pay for and I swear Zodiac makes up on the back end with replacement hose costs. Just spend the additional $$$ and get a reliable pool vacuum.

It just gets stuck near the bottom and endlessly spins its tracks. I have watched it a lot and it hasn't made it near the waterline yet, best is about halfway up if it lucks into a diagonal approach. My suction on the pump is very strong so not that, pool also has round curved edges, no 90 degree corners so should be easy to climb. Pool is fine pebblecrete but description of product said it was compatible with pebblecrete, and a wall climber.
