Growing up as a filipino kid, my mom would always tell me to make some rice. The Zojirushi was practically my best friend since making rice was a daily task for me. It is a very versatile product, not only just cooking different types of rice, but also making porridge, cake and even Ramen. now that I'm in college this thing is my right hand man when it comes to food. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who regularly eats rice in their diet.

It works really well and makes rice that's much better than I was able to make on the stove. I've tried short & long grain white, and brown. All were great. The cooker takes longer than on the stove but I can work around this and the Keep Warm feature helps while I get the rest of the meal together.Minor complaint - the rinsing instructions are a little confusing - it's not clear why there are separate rinse and wash steps. All in all, it's a great appliance and I'm glad that I bought it. And the size is right for two people.

Teflon coating
8 November 2024

This rice cooker has a great design and a range of functionalities; however, the pot is coated with Teflon and there is no stainless steel option. I thought it was not a healthy choice considering that some recipes require 3-4 hours. Nowhere in the manual it says that the coating is Teflon. You would only find out if you talked to a sales representative. The box does specify cooking surfaces are BPA free. Because it is a preference return, you pay your own return shipping which for me was about $40.00. So think twice before purchasing! :)

Zojirushi made in Japan

I finally decided to invest into rice cooker, specifically Japanese made one and today it arrived, I unpacked it right away, and I followed all directions and my Japanese short grain rice came out perfect. It was super simple: measure, wash, wipe dry bowl and put in rice, choose type and press start. It is a rice cooker -basically takes 1 hour to cook rice, but i don't have to stand and remember, I set it and left my kitchen. With my previous stove top rice cooking, it's much more time consuming and I only mastered cooking 1 cup of short grain japanese rice, rest still comes out really bad. And Again, Zojirushi gives lots of options to make different kinds of rice-looking forward to this soon. I love that the rice cooker is sleek, not heavy or bulky as i was expecting, doesn't make much noise, keeps rice warm and over all simplifies and shortens amount of steps one need to have great tasting rice. I never had a rice cooker, super happy with the decision on this rice cooker.

[Rewarded Review] Amazing Quality and Design

This Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker is my first rice cooker with fuzzy logic tech. I was previously using a conventional Zojirushi, so I know this brand makes great quality products. This rice cooker is well made and designed as expected. The base of the rice cooker is a pure white color and the top half is a beige cream color. At first, I didn’t like the top color but I am starting to like it now. In direct light, the beige cream color has shimmery iridescent sparkles which makes it really pretty. The handle is useful to move the machine and I use it more than I expected. The handle is cleverly designed so that it is steady and level when it is full. I like that it is BPA free because that was the reason I stopped using older rice cookers. I like that it is BPA free because that was the reason I stopped using older rice cookers. I am impressed by how heavy and thick the inner cooking pan is and how clearly marked all the measurements are inside. The large white print on a black background makes it easy to see even in low light. I was pleasantly surprised by the included rice spatula holder, which is so simple but useful. The included manual is very detailed and necessary. There is a bit of a learning curve to figure out all the functions of the rice cooker but it is easy once you have done it with the guidance of the manual. The timer is on 24 hour military time so it did take some getting used to as I am accustomed to the American 12 hour clock system. The diagrams and the manual overall are well written with a lot of helpful warnings and tips. The rice cooker is really quiet and we couldn’t even hear when it boiled, unlike previous machines we have had. The outside of the machine doesn’t get very warm to the touch other than the escaping steam vent. I like that there are multiple settings for different types of rice as often it is difficult to remember how much water and time to use for each type. The excess water condensation doesn’t drip down from the lid when opened like older flip top rice cookers, which was the reason we had gone back to a conventional rice cooker. I was very impressed by this and by the design improvements made by the design team. The timer really did finish cooking at the programmed time. The fuzzy tech seems to know how to make rice softer or harder depending on the choice of programming. Sushi rice came out with perfect consistency even though I was a little imperfect on the amount of water. Overall, a good quality and well designed rice cooker that I recommend.

[Rewarded Review] Excellent and versatile rice cooker
20 March 2022

This Micom rice cooker from Zojirushi prepares many types of rice and does an excellent job at producing a high quality pot of rice. There are cooking presets for white rice, long grain white, sushi, congee(rice porridge), brown rice, GABA brown, jasmine rice, steel cut oatmeal, quinoa, quick white, and cake. I've had the chance to use the white, long grain white, and brown rice settings so far and the results have been outstanding. It produces rice better than most authentic Asian restaurants I've dined at. A bowl of rice is essential in many Asian cultures so excellent rice really elevates your overall dining experience. The 5.5 cup size is large enough for most families. Clean up is pretty easy as well with the non-stick cooking pot. The top lid is also detachable for easier cleaning. The power cord is detachable and uses a standard connector, so no worries if it gets damaged. My only concern is the availability of a replacement non-stick pot in the future if this one wears out.Overall I love this rice cooker and the finished rice it produces. It's a a noticeable improvement over my simpler rice cooker that didn't have Fuzzy Logic or Micom technologies.

This is my 2nd Zojirushi rice cooker. 3 cups is perfect for a small family of 2-3 people. I love the music it plays in the beginning and at the end of cooking. It looks cute on my kitchen counter. The rice comes out great. Delivery was fast and accurate. I got it on sale! All my friends got one after I bragged about it. I am planning on getting more Zojirushi products.

This is my third Zo rice cooker, the first Micon choice. I gave my first fuzzy logic cooker (still working) to my daughter when I bought a larger one. Then I bought this one for our RV. I live in a high altitude place and I absolutely HATE trying to make rice without a cooker. It's always a trial. This cooker makes it easy and fool proof. It's not fast, but with a little planning, one doesn't have to babysit the stove when trying to cook rice. You just set it, and forget it. I use a lot of brown rice, so I use the GABA setting almost predominantly. Brown rice cooks perfectly! I chose this model for not only the standard GABA setting, but to try the congee and quinoa settings. As an aside, I never thought about the internal battery for the display until I was comparing this brand to another, and the other brand had longevity issues on the battery. I would be EXTREMELY put out if I had to buy another rice maker just because the display battery died and there was no way to replace it. SO far, fingers crossed, NONE of my batteries have had issues. The one I gave my daughter is going on 10 years.

This is my first Zojirushi - Micom Rice Cooker & Warmer of this style, I have always owned the round single function one button, "press to cook/warm, pops up when done", which I love, especially, when we cook rice every day. This model did not disappoint. It offers a few other settings to cook other grains, but for our use, it's mostly set in one function. The "upgrades" on having more settings was unnecessary for the use it's intended in my home, however, I love the shape and style. I own at least 3 other of the latest multi-cooker appliances, and I tried cooking rice with them, the results were just not the same.
