I ordered this to replace the cooks knife in the the 5 star set of 3 knives. I have had that set for quite a few years, and love it. Unfortunately I dropped the cooks knife and it broke. The handles of the 5 star set are curved and very comfortable and ergonomic. I find the straight handle of this 4 star knife much less comfortable to use and I quickly get a pain in my wrist when I use it. Although it is very sharp, I find cutting pumpkin much more difficult than I did with the original one. So I am really very disappointed.

This has become my "other" favorite knife since purchasing a year ago. My favorite is the 8" version. The price was so fair that I had to have it. The 7" blade opens up versatile uses such as paring with the heel of the blade near the bolster and mincing shallots and garlic with the tip since the shorter blade is easy to control. if you don't have a lot of room to prep food but still want a full and solid chef knife, this is perfect. The handle is very comfortable to hold on to for hours on end. I hope that this 40 year Anniversary knife with its amazing price will encourage cooks to try out a great product.

Beautiful knife, exquisitely sharp, nicely balanced. Love the feel of the handle. I'll be darned if I can find the "visual imperfection." To me, it's perfect!

German steel with a really good edge. Comfortable handle gives good control. Easy clean, smooth construction means no germ hiding places. This knife should last a lifetime, and will probably be an heirloom. A good investment.
A Four Star knife is so comfortable despite of its size. An 8" chef is perfect, neither too small nor too large, it is a comfortable in my hand.A balanced will quickly become the go-to knife for everyday tasks. This knife is perfect for cutting meat, fruits and even vegetables.A delicate big piece of fruits like Cantaloupe or watermelon will be manageable for this knife. It's the most easiest to sharpen for its special formula high carbon stainless steel, easy to sharpened either stone or machine.
I have several chef's knives. This Zwillings is the only one, however, with a solid and wide bolster so I had to learn new grips. It is a pleasure to use: nice arc for efficient rocking, steady and confident control, good balance, seems to be solidly constructed although the tang is not visible so, for all I know, it's not full length. I bought it during the Zwillings factory seconds sale at a superb price. I would not have purchased it otherwise because I don't kneed any more knives.
HoK excellent to deal with- fast, good price, easy. The product? Not so flash; clearly inferior to Wüsthof brand. Poor handle, too much required pressure to cut - struggled with minimal pressure on an avocado skin!Thinking of buying this brand? - go the extra mile and get Wüsthof instead - far superior in every way. No comparison!
If the 8-inch is too big and the 6-inch is too small, then this knife will be 'juuuussstt' right. It's a ideal size if you've been trying to decide what length to get. It is like a 7-inch santoku and has all the usability of that knife (and it does almost everything in the kitchen), plus it has the shape and the arc of a Western style knife that goes so well with chopping with a rocking motion. (Another knife to consider is a the Four Star 7-inch rocking santoku.) Whichever way you go, get off the fence and get cooking. The ‘grippy’ polypropylene handle is proportionate to the blade and the work - therefore no excess weight. The blade steel and method of construction is proprietary and at the forefront of technology. The blade can both take a beating and hold an edge, ideal for daily use and hard work.Although dishwasher safe, all knives perform and look better if they are hand washed. I’ve had a Four Star in my collection for decades. And it stilllooks almost new.
Great first impressions of this knife! Got it to replace a knife that went missing after a camping trip, and it is better than what it is replacing. Great for chopping and slicing. Bought it in a set along with a pairing knife for an excellent price. Excited to see how it performs after lots of use. Highly recommend!
