A little disappointed

I bought myself a 7” blade chefs knife as a new treat! After years of using a too-large knife for my hand size/height, I converted to an 8”, but decided to pick up a 7”, and this is a GREAT knife. My daily knife work is primarily proteins and fine work for mise, and this knife handles most of my day! It’s lightweight enough to use all day without fatigue. Its weighted handle is very comfortable. The bolster fits my thumb perfectly and the blade is razor sharp right out of the box! Cannot wait to see how this knife holds up to my Shun.

So balanced and sharp! I have always been a fan of Japanese knives… until now. This knife sliced through like a razor blade, without the fragile feeling of a narrow edge on the board. Its stable, powerful, and the 7” slim version is perfect for the type of knife work I do, great all around knife thats going to be my new go-to! I feel like it has the positive qualities of both Utility and Chef knives in one package.

This knife looked really nice coming out of the box and had a pretty sharp edge, but as I started to use it, the weight is definitely shifted more into the handle than I like. It makes the tip feel a little harder to handle, and doesn't feel as precise. But the biggest problem I found with it is that only after a month of use it's already staining and rusting, and this is stainless steel. So, I will be contacting Zwilling about this because that shouldn't be happening.I will say on the positive side though, this knife handles cutting large chunks of meat and lots of vegetables really well. The only problem I've had chopping something is with slippery foods or onions. A real workhorse

I bought myself a 7” blade chefs knife as a new treat! After years of using a too-large knife for my hand size/height, I converted to an 8”, but decided to pick up a 7”, and this is a GREAT knife. Many years ago, I was a partner in a chain of 24-hour coffee shops. I spent a fair amount of time behind the cook line, filling in for cooks who were late or swamped. I don't miss those days at all, but still cook for pleasure.Spending hundreds of hours doing volume cooking makes you appreciate having the right equipment. Although durability is important in a commercial setting, having tools--especially knives--that do their job well is critically important.I bought my 8-inch chef's knife about six months ago and have used it every day. First off, the quality of the steel and the ergonomics of this knife is superb. I was maybe a little leery of the blade retention having experience with Japanese knives but it has been proving to be stellar. Many months in and I've yet found a need to sharpen, as light work on a knife steel seems to be all that is needed.Many people are most likely attracted to the pro line for the ergonomics and they don't disappoint. This is easily my most comfortable knife, and perfectly compliments a pinch grip.A bit on the blade profile - if you are accustomed to a traditional western style blade, or even many of the newer Japanese hybrid blades, this has a different curvature that takes a little getting used to. Rock chopping with a classic chefs knife to this will feel like you're hitting a sudden stop at the bottom of the stroke. This isn't a bad thing, but different. If you are extremely used to a traditional chef's knife blade shape maybe look for the version of this knife with that blade profile (there is one). Used multiple times daily for 4 months.

Handle design and weight is unmatched

I've owned a couple high-end Japanese knives over the past few years, and switching over to this German knife has been a game changer! The thicker handle and heavier tang makes helps me have more control over the blade. It also makes the blade feel so much lighter than it should be. I don't foresee myself buying a different series of knife for a very long time.

Just got this new knife and absolutely love it! Was able to cut carrots, tomatoes and even paper towel so easily. The blade is super sharp and the knife is comfortable to hold. The additional weight of the knife makes it so much easier to cut as well! Worth every penny.

After reading many reviews, we purchased this knife to start building up our kitchen to replace some knives we have had for many, many years. This was the first as a basic, general chef knife to see if we liked the quality before we purchased a larger set. This was a great starter to give us an idea of the high quality we wanted. After using this for a few weeks now, we are confident in purchasing many more in this same collection. This is a must have knife for any kitchen and the quality, overall appearance and ease of use is of the highest quality for the price point.

Shared knife upgrade for large and small hands

This knife is an upgrade for my wife and myself to both use. I have a few high end japanese knives for myself, but thought it was time to give our old Chinese made western chef knife a much needed retirement. This knife was a welcome upgrade for the shared household chef knife. Super sharp and pristine right out of the box. The blade is perfectly straight. The edge is ground perfectly. The handle fits nicely in both of our hands, even with mine being much larger(I'm 6'5" and she's 5'7"). We couldn't be happier with this chef knife. Even with this being the "traditional" version, this still has more of a curve than most western chef knives. That curve makes rocking even easier for better clearance on taller vegetables.

Was almost perfect

I love this knife. I have a Zwilling chef’s knife that I’ve owned for 15+ years and it’s been amazing. This Pro feels comfortable and familiar but the angled bolster just feels so much better in the hand. My only issue was the knife arrived with a chipped edge, and not just one but about 4. Not sure if this is a factory QC issue or what but it’s disappointing especially since this was a gift.A few mins on a stone and it was easily fixed but definitely not what I was expecting from a brand new knife.Otherwise great price and fast shipping which was great.
