I needed a new workstation and this seemed to be a good choice, I nearly went for the 7950X, but that would have been overkill. I typically do CAD, 3D modelling and video editing - it's that last one that this machine is very helpful with. 11 minute video processing is down to 3 (originally used a 4C/8T Intel). It does run hot and expensive using default settings, so if you pay the electricity bill yourself, search for limiting the CPU frequency. It's because I pay the electricity bill that I chose not to go for a high end Intel CPU, also because of the Performance/Eco core arrangement. It does an excellent job with single threaded work, which is not this CPU's USP, but it does does better than an intel CPU running at nearly 5Ghz. I have no regrets with buying this ... MoreI needed a new workstation and this seemed to be a good choice, I nearly went for the 7950X, but that would have been overkill. My only concern was putting it in the motherboard socket and damaging a pin, but after 3 previous AMD builds, I had confidence...though was still a little nervous!

At first i thought i would regret not dishing out the extra cash for the 7950x, but i couldnt pass up the performanxe of the 7900x at this price point. Actually, I paid $420 for it because I price matched from Amazon (make sure to always compare pricing). At nearly $150 cheaper, this CPU is straight MONEY. Extremely fast and powerful, handles any task i throw at it. Im able to stream at mad settings and game at 1440p max settings with ease, and it seems like this processor doesnt even blink. Its truly amazing how far the technokogy for these processors has come. So with all that said, I think value plus performance wise the 7900x is the way to go. If you want the flag ship go for the 7950x or 7950x3d but understand you’re really spending that extra money to flex on ... MoreAt first i thought i would regret not dishing out the extra cash for the 7950x, but i couldnt pass up the performanxe of the 7900x at this price point. Its very unlikely you need that much power for just gaming and streaming. The 12 cores in the 7900x really means this processor is able to take on pretty much any task(s) for about 98% of the PC population. Highly recommend.

I'm a life long Mac user but my two grandsons (ages 13 & 14) are in 'training' to become pilots and the macs can't run the frame rates per second that PC's can.So, I researched every brand new, just released, CPU I could find find and this 7900 cpu outperforms (in gaming) even the 7950X for FPS.My two grandsons are going to be building a two PC system to run their triple monitor flight system. Works great. I don't know what to tell you. It's a nice CPU if you're buying it for the specs. No drama so far. Does exactly what it says on the box and does it very well and doesn't complain. Installation is so straightforward. The lights are very pretty and make for a nice case centerpiece. Only heads up if you're installing this is that it takes a little bit of force to secure the fan. You won't break it, just push the little lever across. I had to watch a video of someone installing it to make sure I wouldn't break it but no... it's designed to give a bit of resistance. Once it's in though, it's in and not budging. The accompanying software leaves something to be desired... but we can't all be winners 🤷
I'm happy with this processor . It's fast and my new 'built' computer boots much faster than the computer it replaces. I paired it with the 4060 GPU AMD and I put 2-2 TB SSD's in for storage. I have 64 GB RAM using the G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6400 Desktop Memory Model F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5RK and the GAMEMAX Master TG Black Tempered Glass Full Tower Computer Case w/3x120mm Autoflow Rainbow Fans (Pre-Installed). I;m using CORSAIR RMe Series RM1200e ATX Power Supply – Fully Modular – ATX 3.0 – 80 PLUS Gold – Cybenetics Platinum – Low-Noise – .. and the MB is an ASUS TUF GAMING B650-E WIFI AMD B650 AM5 ATX motherboard, DDR5, 8+2 teamed power stages, PCIe 5.0, a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot, Use this config for gaming and general computing
Bought to be used as a daily CPU renderer for 3D softwares. I use it for gaming as well. Can easily be cooled with a large aircooler such as Noctua NH-15D under full load in normal room temp. This was essential for me since I needed more reliability and lifespan than a AIO.My first time using AMD since current intel cpu's needs more handholding to keep temps and energy consumption right.Iwould recommend if you want a balance of Speed for your money alongside long term reliability!
I wanted a 9900X, but it just happened to be in stock after i bought this. No problem, as the price was much better and it far surpassed what i had.It does run hot and you have to did in the BIOS to cool it down. The speed is shocking, but i mainly got it for the pcie 4/5.0. It does make difference on a gpu like the RTX 4080. An hour and a half 720p video now renders in 7 minutes. Video games look cleaner and run smoother. All textures are clear and you can even read labels on boxes!I played a few games that never gave me issues on the last setup, but they look so much more shockingly better with stronger color info, detail and cleaness. Watching video and films reveals more detail and the full limits of video quality.I should done it earlier, but I did try ... MoreI wanted a 9900X, but it just happened to be in stock after i bought this. AMD has AVX512, while intel does not. Im still shocjed that it out performs my previous intel 12-core.
After doing a little research I realised my Ryzen 7 3700x cpu was throttling my rtx 3080 ti by about 20% performance I knew I needed to make the upgrade. I picked this cpu as although it’s not the best Ryzen 9 cpu it’s still the 3rd best and that is more than good enough to handle my rtx card. Before the upgrade I was seeing on max setting 30 fps on hogwarts legacy, a game that says my card can do much more than this. Since the upgrade (the cpu,new motherboard and DDR 5 ram) I’m not getting no lower than 70+ fps which is fine for me. So I made the right choice and this is a great cpu that at the time was even on sale with very.
