Kettle Smeg Pastel Green

I have bought this kettle 12 months ago and 6 months later it has developed paint blister. Smeg were very good and send a replacement kettle immediately. The next new kettle had developed a fault in the first 6 months by which the lid would not open and had to be pressed several times before it popped up. I have yet again contacted Smeg and as the original purchase was still within 12 months I received a replacement kettle within 1 day. Excellent service by Smeg customer services but unfortunately the 3rd kettle has a fault with the lid too, which this time it keeps popping up open. 3 kettles in 12 months, all faulty and now out of original guarantee so stuck with it. Really not worth the money. For this price I would expect top quality product and certainly a ... MoreI have bought this kettle 12 months ago and 6 months later it has developed paint blister. Looks good but having to return again

We bought the Smeg kettle and matching toaster in the summer last year, ready for moving into a new house. We ordered online and the toaster was fine but the kettle was already pitted on the chrome on the lid so was returned. A replacement was sent to our house as not available in store and exactly the same issue. I arranged to collect the 3rd from our local store and checked the kettle on collection. This one was fine. Not yet 6 months of use and the chrome is now pitted on this kettle too and needs returning. Not what you expect from a premium product like this.

Review of Smeg Jug Kettle 1.7L Variable Temperature Pastel Blue

Looks great, and does what it’s designed to do. Not much more to say really. The handle could feel a little more premium, metal instead of plastic for example, but that’s a minor niggle.

Unsatisfactory Kettle

After returning our SMEG KLF03 kettle after eighteen months due to a fault John Lewisexchanged it for the SMEG KLF04. It is a very different kettle. Our SMEG KLF03 was excellent and we would be still using it had an electrical fault not occurred. However, the SMEG KLF04 is not as good. Having multiple temperatures options it takes quite a while to boil. Also the amount of steam generated is excessive, as it reaches one temperature, it boils, switches to a higher mode and carries on boiling. There is so much steam it billows up the kitchen wall and across the ceiling. A dangerous feature is that if you start to pour the water before it has reached the set temperature it creates a bottleneck near the spout and hot water splutters and splashes out, we are unsure if ... MoreAfter returning our SMEG KLF03 kettle after eighteen months due to a fault John Lewisexchanged it for the SMEG KLF04. A dangerous feature is that if you start to pour the water before it has reached the set temperature it creates a bottleneck near the spout and hot water splutters and splashes out, we are unsure if this is because the boiling mechanism is still active. You can hear the kettle being switched on and then again when it reaches its optimum temperature with a long ringing sound, it is loud enough to be heard all over the house. Could not recommend.
