Fish are relatively low-maintenance pets since they don"t require walks or grooming and they don"t take up a lot of space. In addition, they can be believed to bring good luck and a calming influence to a home. It becomes problematic when you have to take a trip. Fish require consistent feeding in order to stay healthy and without someone to feed them while you are away, they may not receive the necessary food that they need and become malnourished.Automatic fish feeders can help solve this problem. This API Holiday Pyramid Fish Feeder is designed to slowly release food into the aquarium, allowing fish to feed multiple times throughout the day. It also helps prevent overfeeding. Vacation feeders contain minerals, cereals, derivatives of vegetable origin, and vitamins. Not to mention that with a single pyramid fish feeder, five to ten fish may be fed for as long as 7 days. The API weekend pyramid fish feeder is ideal for cichlids, goldfish, tetra, betta, and angelfish. The food is designed to provide the essential nutrients your fish needs to stay healthy and active, and it will last for several days without spoiling. It also helps reduce the amount of waste that can build up in the aquarium, which can be harmful to your fish. As a result, you can set off on a trip without worrying.

Awful product

I wish I'd read these reviews before I bought this product. I didn't even think to do any research, because I've bought from Pets At Home before and everything else I have bought for my Goldfish has been fine.I went away for 12 days, and left the tank in clean and pristine condition ... with a perfectly happy Goldfish PLUS (of course) the API slow release feeder which was supposed to feed him for two weeks. Got home at 2.00am this morning, checked the fish tank, and the feeder has barely dissolved at all. So the poor fish has had to resort to eating some of the plants, demolishing two of them and turning them into mush in the process, the tank had all bits of plant which at this point were beginning to rot and the water was distinctly murky. He's practically doing back flips now that he has recovered.Appalling product. Don't waste your money. And OK, it's not expensive. But that's not the point.

Day before i left i did a partial water change and cleaned the filter. Day i left i fed them well again then dropped the full block in the tank.I returned today to find the water a little cloudy and half the block remaining - which is expected because the block lasts for 14 days and i was away for 8. All my plants have survived with no signs of nibbling. Tested water and all is well so 5 stars from me.

Do Not Use!
12 September 2015

Used this feeder while we went on a one week holiday. Healthy fish and clean tank before we left but returned to find feeder had only partially dissolved and fish very lethargic with tell tale white cotton- like growths. Fish also very bloated and excreting continually. Had tonise sick fish water treatment and luckily saved them, but aftervreading other reviews I see we have been lucky to get this outcome.

Excellent feeder

Bought this after reading good and bad reviews but have to say this is a great product. Left in our tropical tank with catfish and tetras for a week. Placed other end of tank from filter, came home, all fish alive, pyrimad partially dissolved, all fish happy and alive, tank water clear, filter clear, will deffo use again.

Fantastic!
14 September 2019

Was very apprehensive about this product but it was fantastic! We were away for 7 days and the fish were still swimming and happy on our return. You could see it had been dissolving over the days and didn't make a mess in the tank. Definitely recommend!

Great if you dont want your fish to eat!
20 September 2013

I placed 1 of these in my tank before i went away, after reading some of these reviews i decided to put another one in with it just for back up should the 1st one not work. The 1st one placed at bottom of tank, 2nd one i placed directly over the oxygen block as a tester really. To my (not very) surprise I came back from holiday and both of the feeders had done precisely.......NOTHING..Absolute rubbish, would like to here some feedback from Pets at home as to why this product doesn't do as described??But somehow I doubt they will bother..

Holiday fish food
26 February 2020

Bought two of these for our cold water tank and tropical fish tank. We used the pellets the last time and they didn't touch them over a weekend away. The staff member in shop told us the pyramids were the best for both tanks. We went on holiday for 1week and I'm pretty sure the fish didn't touch them as they were almost the same as we left. I've gave a 3 star rating as staff were friendly but I'll not buy these again.

I wouldn't use again
1 September 2015

Usually use the round disc type holiday feed but couldn't get it this time so used the pyramid. Tank clean and healthy before a weeks holiday. Came back and all fish lathargic and then developed white fluffy fungus. Used "sick fish" treatment but all fish dead within 48hrs.I would of done no stars but couldn't submit review without any stars rating.

Still alive and energetic - does the job
17 April 2015

Provided this for my six danios (zebrafish) for a period of 6 days.Returned to find the block has dissolved to about 3/5 of its original size. My fish are all as energetic as usual; no unusual behaviour or appearance spotted so I can conclude that the block does the job in satisfying them for a week. They were very excited to be fed on their usual food. But I imagine I would also be pleased to be given solid food after a week of what is effectively soup, regardless of the nutritional value.
