AKG K240 MKII Semi-open Studio Headphones

Best Feature:best value at this price rangeGreat value. Not as resolving as other more expensive mid-fi headphones, but very much enjoyable. Bass might be lacking for some. Slight eq boost in the lower region will slightly thicken the sound and make the bass a bit more pronounced. If you are a basshead, this isn't for you. Volume wise, it's loud enough but sounds thin when plugged directly to a laptop. The k240 needs to be amped to shine. Decent comfort. Light and doesn't clamp much. But the pleather pads are a bit stiff and shallow. Comes with an extra coiled cable and velour pads.Long shipping time but worth the wait.

AKG 240 MK 2 Headphones

Disappointed the frequency range was not advertised at time of purchase.Purchased due to appearance.Hollow in sound even when headband is applied.I suppose with hindsight should have purchased a closed back sort of headphones with low end frequency and adequate mid and high frequency range.Albeit i have problems the solution may have been to find store even though now living a few miles away.Thank you all for what you have achieved in the past now and in the future.Your contributions to the Music industry has and always will be appreciated.

Affordable high quality comfortable headphone

Bought this headphone to use in my "studio". The sound is really good, airy, open, enough bass, good definition. It is semi open which I like better than a closed. Fits very well and is comfortable to wear for several hours. Nice to have two options of cushions (velvet and leatherette) and two different cables with miniXLR connection. Definitely an upgrade to my MkI. I would recommend it.

Excellence just got cheaper!

Great headphones

Well made, comfortable with a clear precise sound. Very comfortable to wear and self adjusting, better than most with plastic earpiece mounts that can be more fragile. Comes with spare soft material ear cushions and two interchangeable leads with mini xlr plugs and one sided cable, less to snag. Trusted manufacturer and should last for years, unlike my more expensive Denons which had none of the above equipment and strength and are bass heavy for mixing.One earpiece y support broke on my Denons after a few months and now is glued togther (twice) and now bodged up and reinforced. I now avoid anything other than the AKG type.AKG also beats Beyer in the same price range in reviews, which is one of my favourite makes for microphones, but lthe Beyer lacked the ... MoreWell made, comfortable with a clear precise sound. Lightweight, super comfortable, durable

These are studio headphones, so don’t expect to have the bass and kick drum pounding in your ears. That’s not whar these are made for. These are great for monitoring, mixing, and even recording. Semi-open, so while they have some external sound bleed, they do not give you ear fatigue from hours of listening.These are durable, too. Probably because they’re so lightweight. They certainly won’t break under their own weight.These are the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever had on for hours and hours.They come with 2 different types of ear pads and 2 different types of cables. Those should be the only parts you ever need to replace. Not not bad at all

I use this product for mixdowns and tracking. Bought It new under 100. Highs are clear and slightly colored, but the lows are a bit low so mix downs will be bass heavy so learn your headphones. over all I use them with Mackie HM-4 Headphone Amplifier. Recommended

Still good

Purchased these a week ago to replace a pair of other headphones that had come to the end of their useful life. I owned the original model way back in the 1980s and thought that the new MK-II model would be worth a try. Compared to what these replace, the bass seemed rather too full, but I listened to some old recordings by Grace Jones and Robert Palmer and Steely Dan, to be sure that all was okay. Very surprised and impressed with the level of accessories that these phones come with: Spare lead and ear cushions, along with the 1/4" adapter. Also appreciate the light weight and the comfortable feel. An insignificant amount of acoustical leakage from the semi-closed design.

Very dull sounding

For tracking and mixing, I use and have used, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x as an additional tool to my old NS-10s and my KRKs. I wanted to try something else that would be lighter and a bit more comfortable over long sessions of mixing - I was hoping these would be the ones but the just sound dull - not flat, just dull with no life, no clarity, not flat, just very dull. In all the other headphones I have used, open back and closed, the Samson SR850C Semi-Open Studio Headphones at half the price are a better purchase over the AKG K240. These are not for me.
