BIOS driven water cooling is unstable. In half year occurred 3 times that the #0 core reached incredible high and strongly damaging temperatures, which should not occurs since a total stress test can not increase the core temperature over 80 Celsius after running half hour in a warm room.

I have now been using this for six months and it has proved an excellent purchase. It has every fair that you could wish for from a premium device and it's perfect for those who appreciate smaller form factor machines without the any of the compromises. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is considering including this in a future build.

It uses a slightly larger format, mini DTX which may cause compatibility issues with some cases, and due to the M.2 daughter board compatibility issues with some coolers is to be expected. It is definitely made with liquid cooling in mind. The IO at the back is great and offers a tonne of features for overclocking, and the M.2 board even allows for additional fans to be added to the case or radiators, in addition to the headers already present on the board. BIOS driven water cooling is unstable. In half year occurred 3 times that the #0 core reached incredible high and strongly damaging temperatures, which should not occurs since a total stress test can not increase the core temperature over 80 Celsius after running half hour in a warm room.
I have now been using this for six months and it has proved an excellent purchase. It has every fair that you could wish for from a premium device and it's perfect for those who appreciate smaller form factor machines without the any of the compromises. I got the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact (what a mouthful!) for an AMD 5950X CPU in an ncase M1 case. This mini-DTX mobo fits well in this case and is a premium board with premium features. Some of them are nice to have, but are terribly useful after putting the system together (unless you are overclocking, which I am not), like the digital diagnostics on the back and the start button on the board, but I'm glad they are there as I did use them on install. Other features are just nice to have like the front USB Type 2 Gen 2 connector from front-i/o panel, quality board construction, excellent VRM, a pretty good number of USB connections, and more than usual number of fan header on the board and SO.DIMM card (compared to other mini-ITX boards). So if you want this MB and watercooling then look elsewhere or get a sandwich case with riser support. (You could do what I did, cut the backplate to fit)Then there the chipset itself, mine runs over 90CThis is due to poor quality control on the thermal pads used. I can confirm this motherboard fits great inside of the Meshlicious case, even with it's tall M.2 daughterboard, but you will need to use a SFF power supply. It has just about every high-end feature as it's ATX cousin, just in a smaller package. The tiny heatsink and chipset fans are basically silent. Tons of IO and many convenient surface-mounted and rear buttons.
I originally had an X570-I STRIX to use in my mITX build, but the board had weird computability issues with the processor (Ryzen 5900x), and it wouldn't boost much above 4.1GHz despite having thermal headroom.OptimumTech also reported this issue, and it is currently without a fix, aside from replacing the board. It is a shame that the STRIX underperforms as much as it does, but this board more than picks up for the slack.
Good competitive pricing on the ASUS Crosshair Impact VIII motherboards
I have been a long time user of ROG boards. I was looking for a board that was small but still packed with features. This board delivers. M2 riser card to keep two M2 SSDs cool (and easy to access). And an M2 type Supreme FX sound card keeping things compact but feature full.Tasteful RGB options and a very good thermal solution for the chipset.The bios is up to the usual high standards too. Not cheap but well worth a punt. Runs my 3900x perfectly.
Why was sent an open box motherboard but still paying full price? This is more a review of the sale rather than the purchased motherboard. The boxed wasn't even sealed and a plastic insert has a spot where it looks like someone mixed something on it.
