My thanks to CCL who promptly despatched the well packaged ROG_Strix_X570-E_Gaming motherboard, which was safely received the next day.This sturdy and well equipped motherboard was easy to install and set up. I have not yet had the opportunity to test the 8-Channel functionality, but expect it to match the high quality of the other components on this motherboard.The BIOS correctly identified my installed graphics card and drives and my USB 3.2 Gen2 case front panel functioned perfectly using the connector on the motherboard.I look forward to testing the M.2 Socket capabilities when I have acquired a suitable drive.A BIOS update (1405) was available and was easily and successfully installed using the BIOS Flashback USB port.

I've been running this board for approximately 3 months, and right now I can say that this is the best looking board from ASUS that I've ever purchased. Very nice board layout, and has all the features that someone would want. Even though this board looks nice, it does have a problem. I have Gskill FlareX 3200 mhz 16 GB CL16 RAM, and when I initially turn on DOCP and reboot, the system will reconfigure itself and do memory training for the DOCP, then after a restart of the system, it will do its fast boot during post, bypassing memory training. After about 30 to 40 reboots "or shutdowns" The Motherboard Q code readout will show code 90, then will start memory ... I tested the CPU and RAM on my ASUS Prime X470-Pro, and I have no issues with DOCP on that board. The RAM sticks is not on the QVL list for this board, but is on the QVL list for my X470 Board. However, since it is AMD optimized memory, it should work just fine on the ROG Board. I updated to the latest BIOS revision, and im hoping that will help improve the memory issue. Right now its been running at DOCP for 2 days since the BIOS update. Ill post an updated review if anything changes. For a Motherboard at this price, I expected better stability than this. Right now I cannot recommend this board for the memory reason alone.

Feature Rich when it worked, but mine died after 18 months. Just one day, it wouldn't power on. Very dissatisfied. What was worse was that I processed an RMA, and ASUS sent me a dead replacement on arrival. So, my rig has been down for a month. I contacted ASUS, but they don't seem interested in giving me a satisfactory outcome. They offered to pay for shipping, this time to RMA, the broken mobo. No working computer for a month, wonderful; it makes me want to shell that ASUS tax for their next supposed premium product. I've owned several ASUS products, but this experience has soured my opinion of their products and them as a company.

It also has a warning light next to the CPU power pin which actually drew my attention to the fact I hadn’t used both power cables for my CPU.Assembling the board was also very easy, I used 2 M.2 NvMe Samsung drives and so I had to unscrew the heat sinks near the PCI slots and it all came out very easy (Just a side note, if you are using M.2 SSD NvMes don’t forget to peel off the plastic cover if the thermal pads on the heat sinks before you screw them back on to cover your SSD’s)I also managed to daisy chain all my DRGB fans and my DRGB AIO pump off of just one of the two of the DRGB headers available.The board also has ‘WiFi 6’ and comes with an antenna that can reach a reasonable distance but you can possibly find better antennas, however it does the job just fine.CONS: I had to sacrifice one of my fans on the bottom of the case as the USB 3.2 header for the cases front panel is at the bottom of the motherboard and the cable head is very solid and couldn’t be bent. It hardly upsets my system in anyway and isn’t much of a problem at all. Not only it is inaccurate based on colour code, but even different parts of the boards have different shades. Overall, I am not big fan of RGB, but I thought I just set it white like AiO, but as it happened the worst colour reproduction is white (because it is not WRGB) and Asus spend no time in adjusting it, in short you will get pinkish, yellowish or blueish light no matter what you do - so white is out of question. When using more bright colours, like Red, Blue or Green, this issue is less noticeable, but shaders won't match anyway e.g. the Strix lettering colour is ... For comparison free included AMD Spire RGB has perfect colour matching as well as Corsair Vengeance RAM - so RGB colour could be made accurate, ASUS just did not bother with it.The other issues are not as much ASUS fault, X570 chipset is very annoying due to active fan which is not only loud, but as well collects dust. As well Fan should makes access to M2 slots rather awkward.In terms of overclocking I was not amazed at all despite claims that this MB should "almost do it by itself". Now this may be silicon issue on my 3800X, but even on default settings my system scores far lower than expected. I have updated latest bios etc, but if you expect more performance by buying more premium motherboards that is certainly not the case.
Overall I like this motherboard. It's reasonably fast and has all the features I wanted. But at the same time, I'm disappointed with Asus. The motherboard manual is terrible! It's like it wasn't even written for this board. This was made even more evident by the fact that I have very similar Z590 motherboard. It's Manual is very detailed. Even making suggestions for setting up your system. But this board's manual has things that are incorrect. Like indicating that there are 3 PWM Fan headers above the CPU socket when there are only 2. And there is one other small annoyance. The BIOS based RGB doesn't function properly. If I set to turn off the RGB, when the system is off, then it turns off the RGB all the time. But at the same time, I'm disappointed with Asus. The motherboard manual is terrible! It's like it wasn't even written for this board. This was made even more evident by the fact that I have very similar Z590 motherboard. It's Manual is very detailed. Even making suggestions for setting up your system. But this board's manual has things that are incorrect. Like indicating that there are 3 PWM Fan headers above the CPU socket when there are only 2. And there is one other small annoyance. The BIOS based RGB doesn't function properly. If I set to turn off the RGB, when the system is off, then it turns off the RGB all the time. Otherwise it has the RGB, on the back panel cover, on all the time. This means if I don't cover the computer with a cloth it's glaring in my eyes when I'm trying to sleep.
For providing this review, ASUS is providing a 90-day warranty extension onto the warranty for this motherboard. That is nice of ASUS, and I thank them for the added warranty.We completely rebuilt our system, buying the majority of the components from Newegg. With help, the installation of this motherboard was easy and relatively quick. Mounting holes were in the correct places for our ATX case, as were the screw holes and pins and sockets for other added components. Software installation was straightforward, insert the CD and chose what software to install.So far, since the system has only been up and running for a few days, I'm very satisfied with the motherboard, and other components. Should we want to add more components, there are still sockets and pins to use.

I chose it because I wanted a motherboard that made no compromises. I didn't care about RGB or any other accessories, but I still wanted a board with top of the line performance. Well, if you're like me and just want a board that performs well, this is it. That being said, I'm disappointed that Asus didn't take things further. A lot of the press around this board emphasizes that it's a server board made for consumers. Well, I've seen server boards, and this isn't it. Performance was sacrificed in order to make it look sleek and modern. The only thing that makes this a server board is the sheer number of sockets it has. While I'm impressed with the number of sockets this board has, the functionality they provide leaves me wanting more. The accessories that these sockets support tend to be extremely niche. Meanwhile, there's not a single USB-C socket on the motherboard! They included a Serial output socket, but couldn't be bothered to add a USB socket!? Luckily there's PCIE cards that add USB-C sockets, and this board has no shortage of PCIE slots. The PCIE slots are definitely the highlight of this board. There's three 4.0x16 slots and one 3.0x1 slot. Assuming that you've only got one GPU, you'll be able to add tons of accessories to this board to help it keep up to date. That's a benefit very few motherboards can boast about. On top of that, the 4.0x16 slots are reinforced, so you're unlikely to break them. However, the bottom 4.0x16 slot is directly above some of the motherboard's sockets, meaning that you can't use them if you want to run 3 GPU's, unless your GPU's have narrow shrouds and heatsinks. These ports include the front audio socket and rtc ram/lan password clear pins, so there's no way around it. There's also a case fan socket down there, which is another problem entirely. The arrangement of case fan sockets on this board has no thought behind it. There's 3 sockets on top of the board, ONE on the right, one on the bottom, and one in the middle for the CPU cooler. It makes this board feel incompatible with modern cases, despite this board coming out in 2019. Routing the fan cables sucked, and I wasn't even able to install all of my fans. I'm planning on adding a fan controller eventually. TL:DR Buy this board if you like the way it looks. While it has some seriously overkill features, it's lacking a lot of the modern comforts provided by other boards. If you want an actual minimalist motherboard, check out MSI's PRO catalogue. If you want an actual no-frills motherboard, look into ASRock Rack's selection.
Final Update! It's now 5 stars. I had to nuke the cmos in order to get my ram to post. Left a screwdriver over the jumper for a minute and left the battery out of the motherboard while I worked with my case. Put everything back in and test benched again and everything works with both the new and old ram kit. Other than that the only thing I'd say is the motherboards auto cpu voltages are ridiculously high, mine being at 1.48 volts on a 3700x. Easy fix but still something to keep in mind. Old review posts Would've loved to use the board but I can't get it to post. I'm stuck on post code 0d with the ram dbug led on. For now I'm going to try to get a slower kit and see if that works but I have to wait for it to come in which means I'm down a computer. To clarify the board lights up, the fans spin, but nothing displays on my monitor so I can't even see the bios settings, I'm just stuck with a post code and a black screen. I've tried -Clearing cmos -Testing with 1 stick of ram and changing through each out of the 4 sticks to see if any of them would give me a display -trying display port and hdmi -Removing the gpu -Bios Flash(completely failed, flashed 5 times and then stayed green indicating failure -Reseating the gpu -Reseating the cpu -Checking and re-inserting all the power power supply cables including the 24 pin and 8pin cpu power We'll see where I'm at when I get another kit of ram Update So I ordered G.Skill 3466 ram straight off the qvl list for this motherboard, put them in and post code 0d with the ram dbug led still on. At this point it's either the motherboard or the cpu, and I double checked the CPU to ensure there were no bent pins so I highly doubt that's the problem. Not sure where to go from here. I'd like to get a different motherboard entirely but with everything going on there are non available. I'm going to try a few more things and see if I can get a post but if nothing works after that I'll be returning this motherboard.

All of these have ARGB components and the ASUS Armory Crate software works well in controlling the addressable LEDs. The software also handles driver updates and support, however, to get the latest BIOS, I had to go to the ASUS support website directly. With my build, once everything was connected, BIOS setup was a breeze. DOCP was set for the memory clock, saved on exit and that was it. I also have AMD Ryzen Master set to Auto and seemed stable enough for the CPU. Cooler Master's Masterplus+ software for the LEDs on the case integrated well with the motherboard and had it configured to allow the motherboard to control the case lighting effects.There are two things that I think would have made this motherboard the best one in the market for its pricepoint. One is that it lacks the support for dual USB 3.0 headers as my case had 2 sets of USB 3.0 front I/O ports (4 ports). I had to painstakingly look for a header splitter that works. And two; it woud have been nice if there was a dedicated power switch and clear CMOS button on the motherboard itself.In conclusion, the motherboad lives up to its name in terms of performance and hardware support for the latest components. Anyone who could afford to should definitely consider this component in their builds. I would definitely recommend it.
