This is my best & favorite build by far, everything works so well. Now on my forth Asus MB build, I decided to go ROG all the way. Included in my build, Rog Strix RTX3060-ti Graphics, ROG Ryujin 360 AIO Cooler, & a ROG Thor 850 PSU. Soooo fast, (28 sec from a dead cold boot, Including PW) to a full working Windows 10. Wow-ser... Now this is the way a computer is suppose to boot-up. Love It!

I decided to take the plunge and future proof my rig by getting DDR5. For this reason, I upgraded from the TUF Gaming z690+ Wifi D4 to the ROG Strix z690 Gaming-E. All-in-all, it is a great fit for what I want to do; however, it could add some features. I have the i9-12900k cpu and plan to do some occasional overclocking. This cpu runs fairly hot, so right now I have the ROG Ryujin II 360 cooling it; however, eventually I want to switch over to a custom cooling loop. This motherboard does have the headers to accommodate this; however, it COULD have dedicated headers (like the ROG Maximus line) to make it much easier. It would be a small design implementation which would make this board MUCH more attractive to overclockers. It has the power stage headroom (18+1), but ... MoreI decided to take the plunge and future proof my rig by getting DDR5. I have been building computer systems for others for years, so this was the first time I have ever focused on a build for myself. Most of the systems I built were in the enterprise space, so RGB was never a contributing factor until now. The board is very well laid out and labelled(though the USB3 header was a bit tricky to get the front panel connector of my GT501 seated properly without bending the plastic surrounding it slightly). Set up was very simple and straightforward. The motherboard needed a BIOS update immediately, but due to the fact that this is a 12 gen Intel board and the processors haven't been out that long, this is neither surprising, nor a bad thing. I have had absolutely zero problems so far and to be honest, I'm not expecting any in the near future.
I really like Asus Strix boards especially when selecting Intel K CPUs. I Just select AI OC and so far every system I've built has been super reliable and it is pushed to the limits. My only complaint is that there is no external power switch. For a board of this $ point it should however that is typical of Asus. You really do need to spend more to get more.
I upgraded to this 12th gen motherboard from an Asus Z68 / i7-2600k (yeah big upgrade) and paired it with a 13700k CPU.It wasn’t on the latest BIOS so I used BIOS flashback which ran smoothly to support 13th gen CPU’s but then during Windows 11 install it couldn’t find my 980 Pro NVME drives. To fix this I had to run a portable version of Windows and update the Intel ME driver, after that the drives were detected and installation finished with no issues. My only hate with this motherboard is it only has one USB 3.2 Gen 1 header which supports 2 ports but my case has 4 ports. To get around this I found a PCI expansion card.Scan had the best price for this during Black Friday when everyone else was ripping us off. I really wanted the Hero but the prices are a ... MoreI upgraded to this 12th gen motherboard from an Asus Z68 / i7-2600k (yeah big upgrade) and paired it with a 13700k CPU.It wasn’t on the latest BIOS so I used BIOS flashback which ran smoothly to support 13th gen CPU’s but then during Windows 11 install it couldn’t find my 980 Pro NVME drives. To fix this I had to run a portable version of Windows and update the Intel ME driver, after that the drives were detected and installation finished with no issues. My only hate with this motherboard is it only has one USB 3.2 Gen 1 header which supports 2 ports but my case has 4 ports. First time using ASUS MB's, been using EVGA. I like it! Lots of features and well laid out. Very nice utility software. It mounts nicely in the ASUS Tuf GT-501 Case. Easy to install the Processor.Cons: There is only one RGB Header at the top of the board, there should be one, maybe even 2 more. Before you install the graphics card, make sure you connect your SATA cables, they are blocked by the graphics card when installed.3 stars is for, a terrible manual! Thank God for You-Tube, and SATA Port layout, manageable but difficult. The real test will be about a few years from now, my last build is now 5.5 years old. I was ready for a new one.
This is very well optimized for the pricepoint.Warning to buyers: I ordered the Be Quiet! Black Rock Pro 4 as a CPU cooler (my bad, haven't checked compatibility), and it does not fit the Mobo... the one I ended up chosing and that I highly recommend is the Noctua NH-D15S chromax black. It's not listed as compatible, but it works wonders, just have to turn it around (180°) for it to work properly (with the "Noctua" logo upside down, the logo is almost not visible anyway).
I bought just over a month ago. Seems to be alright except the chipset runs extremely hot out of the box in idle 76c when i got it. I've taken the heat sink off several times . Which means a entire disassembly of computer and reassembly to inspect add new heat sink materials. I have achieved a idle temp of 52c I'm thinking should be more in the range of 40c to 45c. the next step I take will be to mill fins on the top of the heat sink to give more cooling area. Frankly its just bad design. the chip set and heat sink area is right below my GPU PCI slot 1 where its is supposed to be. so double whammy. I would avoid this product in its current form
This has the same features as much higher end boards. This is one of the first mobo's that I've used that just works straight out of the box with absolute minimal setup, but also very easy and intuitive if you want to overclock or undervolt. If you're considering this board, buy it - you will not be disappointed.
