Nice, lightweight adjustable walking stick. Hand strap is comfortable and easy to adjust. I'm a fan of orange, so the color was nice as well. Comes with snow pads as well. The locking mechanism for the adjustments could be a little more study, there was some slippage in the locking. I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.

These trekking poles are a great all-around option. The FlickLock technology makes them easy to adjust and to collapse for easy transport. And the poles are well marked making it simple to extend them to the correct length when in use. The grips are a very comfortable size and shape and the lightweight poles are quite suitable for a hike/snow shoe excursion. Overall I think these are a great product. One thing to consider: the carbide tips that are included worked great on dirt and softer surfaces but are not well suited for pavement or boardwalk surfaces. I would suggest acquiring rubber tips for use in those conditions.

Overall these Trail Back Trekking poles are ok after some adjustment and do a good job.Locks were slipping on first two hikes. Was easy to adjust lock tension with Phillips screw driver but took a few tries to stop slipping. I feel these locks on lower section should have been adjusted with more tension during manufacturing checks. A little more annoying is a subtle vibration in the pole at the length setting I use. This becomes more noticeable on a longer hike as pole vibrates a little with every step transferring this sensation to my hands. Probably would try a more expensive model if I were to buy another pair down the road.

The clouds parted and we took the dog to one of our favorite local hiking spots that has some elevation gain and loss. Some of the trail is worn smooth which makes the poles very helpful for added stability. As a fan of orange in all its forms, the burnt orange was a perfected color for me. I love the simple design, flexibility to customize the length, and for me it was the grips that really made them more comfortable than ones I’ve used in the past. The smooth foam texture was pleasant for extended use. I can’t wait to use them while snowshoeing as well.
I started using trekking poles for hikes a few years back as my knee started having issues with descents, and these have quickly taken the place of my previous pair of poles. The grips are more comfortable in my hands, and the two levels of adjustability are great for my height (I'm 5'9" and just tall enough to need the second set). Adjusting length was easy, and the poles are light in hand. I do wish these came with rubber tips, but they did come with snow baskets, so could be easily used snowshoeing as well.
I've used these poles for 3 mountains so far:-Pichincha Integral: 12 km treck at avg 4500 meters-Imbabura: 7km treck with +1500 meters elevation change-Iliniza Norte: summit at 5100 metersSo far, great. they are light, easy to pack and stow. They feel sturdy and well constructed. Tip seems durable
Prepping for the Tour du Mont Blanc and needed new poles. These poles are a real help training. BD trekking poles are built perfect, light as a feather and strong. Excellent assist on balance during elevation changes and different types of terrain. Added rubber tips for street and hard surface walks not to mention eliminating the clicking of the metal tips! Excellent purchase.
I used my new trekking poles for the first time last weekend and found them to be light, solid and well made. First thing, they were very simple to set up. I was able to set the height without using any instruction's, setting them up was very intuitive. I felt very stable on rough terrain and didn’t fell any slipping while moving quickly through varying terrain. Overall I was very happy with the product. They look great too!
I love knowing these polls were built for a work out, so I could work out without worrying about them! Once I got the measurement numbers down, they were easy to collapse and readjust. I found them to be extremely lightweight when going through moments where I didn’t need them. My next plan is to buy rubber tips or walking tips for using on asphalt, as well as snow baskets for my new hobby, snowshoeing!!! my husband, and I are extremely happy with our Black Diamond Trail Back poles!!
Have you ever used a product and thought, wow this is durable and well thought out? This is what I like about these poles. While I can definitely see regular and long-term use of these, they are heavier and not carry-on friendly. They are however, the perfect sturdy pair for the muddy switchbacks and up and down slopes of Oahu, Hawai’i!I have two other pairs that I regularly use for travel and local trail hiking each. This Black Diamond pair is not my first from the brand but definitely the most sleek and durable of the two. I like that the hand loops (vari-width comfort straps) are adjustable and that the pole tips I have from my other pole brand works perfectly as well. Possibly my favorite feature is the flicklock adjustment of the poles that extend or collapse ... MoreHave you ever used a product and thought, wow this is durable and well thought out? I like that the hand loops (vari-width comfort straps) are adjustable and that the pole tips I have from my other pole brand works perfectly as well. Possibly my favorite feature is the flicklock adjustment of the poles that extend or collapse them—fair warning though - use your thumb to secure the grey part with the sort of thumb print, so you don’t accidentally touch the tip end point - it’s hard plastic and quite sharp!Having received these last week, I was so excited to try them out in the wilderness and have managed a few muddy hikes. These poles clean up well with a good shower down and dry. A notable is that you’ll want to spend extra time detailing the adjustment and the straps and grip area since the trail bits really seem to stick. I can see why the more comfortable to the touch materials were chosen vs harder plastics or the lighter cork for example. Again, durability. I was happy that the poles extended and collapsed easily although it was helpful that I practiced using the flicklock ahead of time because I found myself adjusting on the trail to let another hiker use one of the poles for some challenging legs of our hike. Now that the poles are clean and have become a part of my rotating trail tools, I’ve packed them up for an end of summer over night camp trip to the North Shore. The slightly sad part is they don’t fit inside my pack but do secure nicely on the sides. Since we will be driving over, that shouldn’t be an issue, although I can imagine some might want to measure and plan for the extra length and weight.Overall, a solid product that I’m looking forward to using for many years and trails. Thanks Black Diamond!
