They were easy to use. Easy to compact. Good quality and very sturdy. Light and comfortable to handle. They did very well on our 80 mile Everest base camp hike. They have snow baskets too so I will try them out with skis whenever I get my own pairs of skis. Black diamond has never let me down with their products. I would definitely recommend their stuff! Pricing on these were fair too. Did not feel like we were breaking the bank.

I bought these trekking poles for a thru-hike and I am SO HAPPY I went with these. I used them through the entire John Muir Trail (200+ miles) on every kind of terrain and they never let me down! The hand grips are really comfortable, and the spikes at the end are extremely durable. I wasn't sure about my purchase choice in the beginning but I actually passed a number of trekkers who had the same poles and all thought the same about them! They are also light so putting them in my side pocket when not using them didn't feel like it was adding a lot of weight. My only issue with them, which was extremely minor was my right pole would shorten anywhere from .5-1.5 inches throughout the day at times, even though the two places to adjust were completely locked. These poles are amazing! I like that they are light, however strong poles. I was using heavier poles suggested by my Physio therapist which felt too heavy to produce any results. I use them on city sidewalks and local parks. Anyone who would like to improve their fitness would really benefit using these trekking poles. The quality is outstanding and very easy to adjust the height. Very happy with my purchase!

I was happy to find these poles again!!My young lab chewed the tops of both my original poles that I have had for many years. I love the wrist straps, soft and cushioned. They are very comfortable and give extra support when using poles up and down steep hills. They are light, easy to adjust and pack reasonably small.
Like the other reviewer here noted, FlickLock slips. Over the hike the pole will just get shorter and shorter. You can tighten the screw on the FlickLock to increase tension, but it requires a screwdriver, something very few of us carry backpacking. Leki, MSR, and even REI have field serviceable locking mechs that can be hand tightened. Black Diamond could have updated this design for years, they just don't care.
Black Diamond is my favourite company for trekking poles and I trust them above all others in providing a sturdy, affordable and reliable product every time. These poles are no exception. I have used poles that just collapse on their own during a hike in the first use and I never feel like I have to worry about that with BD. They deliver time and time again.
First time I hike with poles - and I will never hike without them from now on. I absolutely love them. THEY MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. They make hiking easy. And safer - going down steep inclines and up as well. I read lots of reviews before choosing the black diamond ones. They are light. Strong. Adjustable. I like the color. The foam at the handle. The strap is soft. Etc. Long story short: GREAT PURCHASE!
I had a similar issue to what a few other reviewers noted. I bought brand new poles for my partner for a 9 hour hike through the Rockies. Unfortunately we discovered within the first minute of our long hike that the FlickLocks failed to lock on both poles. Putting even a little pressure on the poles would cause them to quickly slip back up and reduce the length.

Picked these up for a five-day backpacking trip at Mt. Rainier NP. They are lightweight but very sturdy and durable. The easy adjustment with flicklock allowed us to shorten them to strap to a pack, or deploy them easily. Also, no problem to add a few inches when moving downhill over steeper sections. The grip is comfortable and extends for lots of options. Comfy padded wrist straps too. Switching out the baskets, these piles would work great for a backcountry ski tour or snowshoeing.
